For my son's birthday (he will be 3 in March) we do the 5 gift rule- something he wants, something to read, something to wear, something he needs and something to do. But if I can double up these I will so if he wants Duplo then that's a want and do. I'm not being tight with it it's just how I like to do it, and sometimes I will ask like his Nan to do something to read. He has a lot of stuff and we have a small house so I don't have physical space for him to have millions of toys.

Could you please do a video on your food shop, how you keep it down, meal ideas etc? That would help massively as I always struggle with this! Love your content, finding it so helpful 😊

Yes 100%!! We found it one of the hardest things for us to bring into a budget so I'll happily share!

Variable spending is the hardest category and especially when two partners each have their own budget, but a shared child. I see you split the childcare, but how do you handle expenses related to your daughter like shoes and clothes, toys, books etc. Girls get more and more expensive... before you know it, it will be the fashion must haves, nails and hair appointments! Ha!

I tend to aim for around £50 for gifts for my sons birthday but then will spend extra on a party or a special day out. I’d rather spend on experiences but I think it all depends on the age of your child. I also save into a pot year round so when it comes to birthdays I don’t have to stress 😊

Hi Beth, I have a tip if you are sim only,I believe you may be able to get this cheaper. I went with a sim only and you are better off checking uswitch and then going direct to the provider to see if they will match. I only wanted 30GB of data but Three would only do a tiny amount e.g 1GB or a crazy amount of 100GB or unlimited. I found 30GB for 2 years on 3 for £8 a month and went direct to Three on their online chat and they matched it! If I had just by gone by their options, I would have also been paying £20/£30 a month. Just a tip for you or anyone else, as £12 doesn’t seem a huge saving but over two years it is a lot of money!

@@bethmfuller defo do!! It works!! First person I connected with said £9 a month and I said why not match it,then weirdly it disconnected 🤣 second person matched it no questions asked, so might be worth trying someone else if they don’t match it exactly ☺️

Why do you use your credit card for normal spending and pay in arrears? I budget my petrol/misc spending for the month going forward that way I’m working ahead and not behind. Interested to know

I do this as well but its to earn points on my CCs since I know I have the money to pay it off when due so don’t acquire any debt/interest. The points add up over the year & usually enough to cover a couple flights/hotels

£160 per month for food? Do you do top ups too? That seems drastically low. Just discovered your channel, its fab!

Just out of curiosity, why do you use a credit card for miscellaneous spending? It looks like you'd be fine just without it. I got rid of mine and just count on what I have coming in.

Realistically we normally spend about £200 on kids birthdays all in - gifts cake balloons etc. Question, have you stopped your Trading 212 investments this month?

thank you so much!! And I kept it aside just for this month with having a little bit more spend for the new baby in the family and my daughter's bday!
