I love the way Trevor and the others aren't trying to compete with her voice or the song. Think that's where Fairport slipped up at times.

Which Fairport are you referring to? The Fairport of Thompson, Nicole, Hutchings, Lamble/Mattacks,Swarbrick never slipped up with regard to giving Denny room to be heard. I would say they were very deferential - even when she shared the vocals with Ian Macdonald. Fairport Mark 1 should never be confused with later 'Fairports'.
So interesting reading the comments of long time fans! I don't know her work well enough, but I do love how the other singers and players complement her. The image that comes to mind is of a brilliant white diamond set in a black velvet box, opened to the light
