  • When we first became aware of it in 2020, COVID-19 had a significant impact on churches throughout the world. For some, it brought to the forefront questions about who decides when the church can gather. For others, it revealed a deficiency in our understanding of why the church meets. For everyone, it caused us to reevaluate why God calls us together in the first place. In this episode, Bob Kauflin, David Zimmer, and Devon Kauflin talk about the consequences of COVID, both good and bad, and the importance of remaining firmly planted in the unchanging truths of God's Word.

So many different thoughts on this. The lack of gathering did show our _need_ for gathering. But it also really pushed people away because some locations told people without words "we don't want you hear - go online" ... and the people listened and stopped coming altogether. There was also a LOT of disunity fostered during those times ... masks vs no masks ... jabs vs no jabs ... do we dare actually meet together ... etc. I appreciate some churches that just posted a sign/notice of "we're meeting just like we used to - come at whatever risk level you feel is appropriate".
I will say that it seems those showing up for worship now appreciate that gathering much more so than back in 2019. We took that gathering for granted, not realizing how beautiful the community of the saints really is. I know I get to look out from choir or praise team to see everyone gathered together and thank God for those people of all generations and backgrounds - all coming together to magnify God. I definitely didn't have that same sentiment as often before it was all taken away.

There are a lot of negative things I'm thinking as a result of the Covid era, but won't be gnarky here.
One thing I really liked is the ability to log on to other churches' live streams and resources in addition to attending my small church on Sundays. The majority of churches still do this, and I religiously supplement by listening to parts of other church's livestream during the week.

It's so good to hear you men of God discussing important aspects of our worship gatherings in your new place. I just want to comment about your lighting there. In this setting the lighting is only good on Bob. The others have racoon eyes from overhead lighting and the picture is kind of fuzzy. I'm not an expert, but maybe more horizontal lighting might help. Thank you again for the wonderful content you share for the building up of the Church!

I believe God exposed the condition of many believers within the body of Christ.
The same way many believers don't study the Bible, they are distracted and inundated with worldly affairs, the same way they did not carefully read and analyze the information being presented and they end up in many errors.
Fear was huge - Many were making decisions on fear and they threw faith and logic out the window.
True biblical love was twisted - "If you don't get the Phaushy ouchie, you are violating 1 Corithians" or "You don't love your neighbor", etc. (Believers became extremists too, "Everything is the mark of the beast!"
Prejuduce within the body was very evident - "If you don't follow the orders then you must be a so so so" OR if you follow you must be a so so so (Political Party, Extreme group, etc.)
Romans 13 was sadly taken way out of its context - "Follow the experts, God put them in place"

Amen! Maybe one of the greatest things that came out of the last 4 years is that some learned a great deal about discernment. I think faucci's statement that " science is truth" was an eye opener for many of us in the faith.
I pray for the lukewarm who left their churches and haven't yet returned and those who, without full faith, who will live out their remaining days here wearing masks and in abject fear.
Interesting note... Take notice of the beast system COVID disclaimer below the title of this video.
