  • #TheQuietGirl, is a delicate drama that follows a shy nine-year-old who has been separated from her immediate family and left in the care of two distant relatives for the summer. After sun-dappled days spent milking cows, peeling potatoes and fetching water from the well, the Initially uncommunicative child soon opens up to her foster parents. Textural and tender, this award-winning film shows that home is where you feel loved.

I fell in love with this film..the Irish spoken language made it ever more special..I was championing for this little one all the way through, the neglect & the suffering in silence..then moved into somewhere strange and watching all three of them flourish together as a little family. Each knowing this was the best thing for them all. Taking little one back I was pleading 🥺 all the way in that car journey back that they would ask if they could keep her permanently...then they left and I literally sobbed saying NO this can't be it surely..then she runs after them like she's running for her life..she runs into he's arms & grabs onto him to tightly never wanting to let them go..then dad comes towards them...she whispers it dad...dad. my ending was she went back with them and stayed there at the farm. Being loved and looked after properly the way she deserves. This film was Irish cinema at its beat.. it was my best film in 2022. Brilliant.

I don't know how the credit should be split between the child actor and the director but there's plenty to go around. This film oozes with talent and humanity.
And those trees...I paused here and there and lost myself in the scenery. Isn't Ireland special?

The sensitivity and life story of the main characters Cáit, Eibhlín and Seán enchanted me in a way that few films have done and in this, there is a lot of merit in the script and the actors' performance (Catherine Clinch, Carrie Crowley and Andrew Bennett respectively). A girl went in summers to spend some time with her relatives and she found it enticing and want to spend more time at that place........while the relatives lost their child so they love her like their own......how poignant it is😭........oh my god .... please let her stay for more days......my heart is crying......

I was balling at the end of the movie. SPOILER: I kept yelling inside "Don't leave her there!" It's horrible, but it's realistic. Most children don't get their fairytale ending. I also grew up abused and I'd have given anything for a loving, safe household. It just felt like I was back in that abusive environment and just like Cait, I wasn't saved.
