I think we all tacitly understand that ESFPs are commonly regarded as the stupidest type, however untrue it may be. It's the elephant in the room. I always associate that resistance to being "put in a box" with Fi, though I can't remember exactly how I first arrived at that conclusion. It seems more common for Fi types to never be fully satisfied with typings and type descriptions. They feel it doesn't resonate with their identity as closely as they were hoping or doesn't pay homage to their individuality enough. This could also be an enneagram 4 thing, which is likewise correlated with Fi though.

As an ESFP we are really amazing at feelings particularly, our intuition is extremely high with a dangerous level of accuracy, we are open, we love life, people and things, we are supernova types, you just have to find us. We can look at something and pin point exactly what it means, if you have a fear or feeling you can’t describe, then we can understand your “I’m not sure how I feel” “I don’t know how to describe it.” THATS us, and I love me so much. Im an ENTP and my dad is an ESFP. Super fun for a few hours but after a few hours the ENTP ESFP crash becomes real. You do not argue with my dad and as an ENTP who likes to challenge ideas and it becomes a real power struggle between types.
He can be the most fun person on the planet and I have heard some insane stories from his friends and people he knows, and he knows everyone and everyone knows him lol. One person told me (This is no joke) that he had, while being sober according to this person. Rolled down the window while he was in the passanger seat, stood up and he pulled down his pants and underwear for the world to see.
Another time, in school we had this this assistant who one time gave a story time about the first time he met my dad in front of a bunch of my classmates and me. He knew my dad, bc my dad knows everyone like I said, and told a story (im gonna repeat again, Infront of my classmates) about when my dad had pretended to be severely mentaly ill and have tourettes syndrome to scare him as a joke. He said he was scared of my dad a while after that before he realized he had been pranked.
On a school trip my dad had decided he wanted to go, this was in 6th grade. They has asked if there were a few parents who wanted to come so there could be more adults to keep in check of the kids. In each car there were two adults so they could switch driver, it was a long drive. The teachers had decided to to put my dad in the same car with this mom who was also super outgoing and a bit crazy. This mom and my dad were known by the kids and the teachers as being "The fun parent" Idk what the teachers were thinking putting them in the same car but every single kid wanted to ride with my dad and this mom. The kids were so upset the teachers had to make the decition that for each stop we had to swich car so everyone could ride in the same car as my dad and this mom. My dad and this mom convinced a kid in the car to pull down his pants and put his butt against the window while we were driving past the car were one of the teachers were driving.
My dad def comes up with the most outrageus ideas, he is the fun dad. But I have been with him to work and he is a savage group leader. He has this intense no bullshit attitude and he can't stand my philospical disscutions, he will get downright mad if you mention anything the he thinks is "Fluffy" and getting the work done is important and getting shit done ,while having fun.
When you said that an ESFP might be the right person to have when shit hits the fan, I totaly agree. My dads no bullshit type of attitude and his ability to think on the fly and living in the moment is always what I need when my ENTP brain has truble living in the moment. I think very quickly and can think on the fly, but my dads ability to completley focus on the practical and living in the moment is very useful when I get way to theoretical. Hanging out with my dad is always so relaxing and uncomplicated, however after a while it can crash. We are both very intense people, so if we are in the same room for to long there is this friction kind of builds that sometimes explodes into a huge argument. I am my dads daughter 100%, more than my moms daughter. If I have problem I will go to my dad everytime and he solves the problem instantly.

I was married to a man who was an ESFP (some chance he may have been an ISFP but he tested ESFP). I’m ENTP. I think the dynamic being different helped us. There was really no question in our relationship who was the logical one, who was making that sort of decision, and who was in charge of the day-to-day stuff (since I have no interest in being in charge of what was in the fridge and such).
Although we are no longer married, there were a lot of life stuff as opposed to compatibility that is behind that and we were together many years happily. I can think of many things I did admire about him. But one anecdote stands out. We were moving across continents from a major European city. I was the first one flying out at the crack of dawn one day and my (then) husband was coming with me to the airport. We had been living there for several years so had a lot of belongings. I had with me that day three suitcases, plus a pet in a huge airline sized carriage, and we could not afford any delays!
We had hired a car service days earlier, as we usually did, but as it happened, this particular day, early hours of the morning, the driver decided to take us further out of the way to a remote location and asked for more money. Of course, I started to work the mouth and started arguing with the man, mainly to suss out how dangerous/serious he was, as well as to buy us some time. I was threatening to call the main office and tell on him (fees to airports were fixed and he was asking above that and this being a reasonably reputable car service I’d figured he was acting alone in this). He said good luck the main office wasn’t open yet. Was he bluffing? Should I call?
Just then, my ex husband - and I still to this day don’t know how he acted so quickly and how he was not scared - reached all the way from the backseat and grabbed the keys from the ignition!! I don’t remember all the details from here but the men got out of the car. I got out shortly after.. it was a sort of standstill. My husband had the keys. The driver however got in front of the trunk of the vehicle so we had no access to our luggage and more importantly, our pet. We were in the middle of nowhere with this distressed, now furious man, who may have a knife for all we know! After a while, we all reluctantly made an agreement and got back in the car.I don’t remember the specifics, even though, of course it was me who (logically) negotiated the terms. My ex moved to the front seat and I think kept some of his keys (or maybe his drivers license) until we were dropped off at the airport at the right terminal or something similar.
I do remember the driver asking as his part of the deal that I was to stop talking the rest of the way! 🤣 But then, *he* couldn’t let it go and kept talking out loud every few minutes about what a bitch I was and whatnot and things would get tense all over again! (Not only did he not like me for me, but he was directing all of his frustration that he had been bested by my ex about the keys to me too🙄), which led to me responding (well, it made no sense to blame me for that and I had a hard time with irrational stuff, you know…), and also led to my ex defending me (with only a few with words and maybe a firm jingling of the keys), heavy sigh from the driver, a sigh letting go of a failed plan, but he couldn’t let go. Rinse and repeat. I did make my flight in the end… ESFP saved the day, quite literally!
Edit: I wonder what type that driver was… 🧐

I'm an ESFP, and this is perfect.
I dunno why, but I really like the way you make your videos, they seem...straight forward, accurate, highly informative and involving, and they seem to just keep me pulled in and wanting to watch more, which is why I've binged a few series on this channel. You are my favorite MBTI centered channel, and I've turned on notifications.
I also for some reason want to tell what my main friend group's personality types are.
We have...an ENFP, ESFP(me), ISTP(one of my bffs/face of the group), INTJ(second in command), ESTP, and an INFP.
I am apparently, according to the ISTP, the "heartbeat" of our group. He's very cool and fun to be around. Kinda mysterious too. And whether they like it or not, I'm going to try and keep the group alive and happy. The INTJ, is the mind of the group and the "leader", cause he's the smartest. Whenever the ISTP isn't at school, everything is off, and usually low, cause ye they're my best friend. But I do have the INTJ and INFP there, so I'm fine. I have been friends with them all for many a year now, and hopefully will be forever.
When the ISTP said that he was moving houses, I thought immediately that he was moving like halfway across the U.S. and got very worried.
I brought it up with him when he said he was moving, and he reassured me that he will be at the school still, and he is actually probably moving CLOSER to the school.
    So, I sighed in relief.
My friends are my family, if they leave, well, really "I" leave. In the metaphorical sense. As probably my near endlessly shining spirit would probably die out.
Sad, ye, but they're mah family, and my family is my life.
Now, I probably need to sleep, so goodnight.

Well, as an INTJ who once had an ESFP boss (yes, talk about irony and bad luck), I can testify that they get less credit than they deserve. However, my God, it was hell. She would not keep any agreement at all and making one with her was almost impossible to begin with, since she simply refused to set herself any kind of "future boundary". For most of the time, I'd feel like I was talking to a door and there were many times in which many colleagues, including some who were close friends to her, would try to help me make her understand that what she was setting us to do simply didn't make sense. We lived in a cycle that went like this: get order -> realize order would screw things up -> try to explain the situation -> get an answer in the form "How do you know that will happen?" -> see things fail -> see boss not realize we were talking precisely about what happened -> repeat. She was certainly an undeveloped and unhealthy ESFP, but it really goes to show the bad side of the aspects you brought up here. After some time, I just gave up and got another job

From Linda Berens: Over the last four years, in the MBTI® Qualifying Programs, advanced programs and elsewhere, we found a disproportionate number of people who had reported preferences for the iNtuiting process while their behaviors seemed to resemble the Artisan-SP temperament pattern. This raised some questions such as: What is the relationship between temperament and Jung’s typology?
Extraverted Sensing - Notices the rich detail in the whole forest - the trees, their color and texture, their sounds, their smells, the pattern of light and dark…Introverted Sensing - Notes that this forest has always been here and recalls being in a forest from childhood, smelling that smell and the fun of playing hide and seek behind the trees…Extraverted iNtuiting - Thinks of the fractal patterns, the wide range of possibilities in the forest, how this forest is part of the ecosystem and is affected by polllution from the city…
Introverted iNtuiting - Recognizes that the forest is deeply symbolic of all of life in its interconnectedness and constant recycling and growth and foresees that this forest will soon be torn down for a housing development…

Talking to a very bright fem in an ENFP group, she was telling me she goes with feeling over logic, so I thought that's not me. As we kept talking, however, she explained to me that by feelings she doesn't mean it as in "You are hurting me by not agreeing with me, even though I am wrong." sort of feelings that many people employ- only she used other words- but, she meant "gut feeling". To me, that's just the impetus to look for the facts that prove why it exists, so I know it is called "feeling", but, more physical than emotional. (sigh) Life is very complicated.

How familiar are you with the Jungian self-descriptions of types as in EGO-Shadow-Anima/Animus-Super EGO? I believe C.S. Joseph uses something similar in his type castings based on a Freudian interpretation of the self for an ENFP, EGO: ENFP, Shadow: INFJ, Anima: ISTJ, and Super EGO: ESTP. The reason, I ask is because of your comments on Napolean and Julius Cesar who I would type as ENTJs not INTJs, their unconscious plays a role in how they act under pressure and while experiencing novelty as well as their aspiration, though given differences in standards of ethics, violence, education, strategy as well as differences in culture and periods within culture influence the appearance of Cesar and Napolean both living in imperial warring states at times of major political contention? Also, especially when you look into the biography of Cesar his life was relatively brutal aren't their plenty of factors to explain why these individuals behaved the way they did under certain circumstances, but isn't personality how one is motivated to interpret and understand the world? Like yes this will affect behavior, but behavior seems way more contextual than things like motivation and interpretation and proclivity. For instance, both Napolean and Cesars were students of war and spent more hours planning than they did engaging in combat, Napolean felt comfortable freestyling, because he felt he knew what his opponent could and would do like Newton new the motion of the planets. I don't think this makes him an INTJ, but is this a typical strategy of an ENFP, or do you just think they are exceptions? Also both Napolean and Cesar were more interested in achievement and status as signifiers of who they were, you could say they both lived as what they did and achieved made them who they are and not something else.

I think they were opposing types, Caesar was an ESFP and Napoleon was INTJ. If you look at early life of both of these you can see clear diffrence how first one did not have problem with social contacts, held prestige priest function, wasnot purged during Sulla's reign and did his campaign against pirates. Napoleon on the other hand was clearly an introvert who struggled with getting along with others, was recluse for his whole life and focused on improving his empire not on reckless conquest( most of his wars were defensive ones), while he was sometimes reckless (Whole Spanish thing) he showed clear Ni-Se during his battles, he was also cautious commander when he was not confident in victory(Good example would be holding off guard during battle of Borodino). I think the link between those two come from the fact that they both were opposites of the other and in a strange way very similar
