    I like your methodology. There is something so charming about the whole process of propagating cactus from seed, especially the look of the tiny seedlings. Your results are quite successful. I do propagate from cuttings and offsets but as yet haven’t done much seed sowing. Nothing like creating one’s own hybrid! Maybe I’ll give it a more serious effort this winter when I have some time. ~ If your interested, I’d like to invite you to see my new garden which I created over this last year. I posted it in a video titled’ Exotic Cactus and Succulent Garden’.

I have a few Gymnocalycium mihanovichii Seedlings that are still so small, even after over a year since I sowed the seed! Great video Daz...😉 once you start washing seeds in water with the sieve technique it becomes the only way from then on 😆 its so much more satisfying, I think, and its nice to know your seed is clean before sowing; agree with Edith 👌👍🌵🤗

    Wow Daz! The fruit on the first one was HUGE!!! Taller than the plant!!! Looks like they both put out a lot of seed! The Water method seemed to work very well at separating the seed from pulp. I'll have to try that sometime. Looks like they came up well. Yeah it seems like I try my best to spread the seed evenly but some seem to always grow up together in a group, hahaha!! Nice little seedlings!!! From Morris park in the Ozarks , to the U.K. & Singapore, hope Edith and yourself have a wonderful day!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌸🌷🌴🌻🌿🌹🌳

      Yes spring and summer is always best for sowing cactus seeds, unless you have grow lights and can keep them warm with a heated propagator over the winter time. • @Cactimania
      @Cactimania Před 2 lety +2

      It’s a good idea not to sow too many in each pot, if you get a high germination rate you can end up with overcrowding issues and the seedlings will have to be thinned out earlier than is ideal. For a 9cm pot I’d personally sow between about 20 to 30 seeds for Gymnos. Larger seeds like Astrophytum maybe about 15 per pot.
