    UPDATE: This severely cutback Barberry created some concern when there was no sign of new growth for the first couple weeks, but one month later it has now begun to put on new growth from adventitious buds on the heavier "old wood" as well as from the smaller sprouts.

    Im in washington state. Ive had two of theese for over ten years. Yes i found out realy quickly That the thorns are VERY NASTY. leather gloves are a must have when pruning this Particular shrub.... This shub is very Resilient.... If planted in the direct sun the colors will be more vibrant Versus the shade

      This rejuvenated shrub would have done better if the shrub was growing in full sun. It came to a point where it had to either be ripped-out or drastically reduced, so this was the first step, in either case.
