- This is my 5 year old shih tzu, Latte, asking for more food immediately after his dinner. The vet put him on a diet since he's overweight.

Damn thing is greedy lmao 🤦🏽♂️ the fact people record this is purely for views, and the dog actually doing all this is extra as hell especially when you just ate, shows extremely poor training and that clearly the dog is used to getting its way and over eating, too often we disguise behavior like as “cute” when in reality let it be a human doing this and it’s immediately gluttony and etc, I wouldn’t have given him shyt either in fact now your on “time out” since we doing diets and everything else like the damn dog a human lmao go sit in the corner and try not to think about food! 😩😭😭😭🙏

He is telling them by putting his foot on his dish! They communicate this way and with the growl. So precious is this breed...yet HIGH MAINTENANCE!

Our little boy turned 4 this past Thanksgiving he is our first Shih Tzu. I do all his grooming myself. I have to say that he is no more High Maintenance then our 2 American Cocker Spaniels we had ( a female and a male they were 3 apart in age ) or the female Collie, or the Dachshund Poodle mix a girl or the German Shepherd and the Maltipoo we have had over the years. In the Summer I give him a very short cut almost a shave but not quite and in the fall I let his hair grow out for over the winter to about 3" to 4". He love to play with us and he is just as happy to play on his own ( very cute to watch ) and to just sit, lay down next to us on the floor or couch ect... while we are busy or a reading or watching a movie.
I have never been a small dog guy, However landed up getting a Shih Tzu 14 years ago and he is the smartest dog I have ever had or anybody else dogs I knew growing up. I am getting sad that he is on the declining part of his life. Still a great dog.

Dan Szklanecki I feel that Shih Tzus are the exception. I've never been a small dog person either having grown up with large gun dogs. 12 years ago, my first Tzu. She was calm, loyal, and smart as a whip. She loved water more than some labs I've owned and was very gentle with children. She was happy as long as we were together. We would hike with her, go to the beach, and be on the boat. She loved life. She crossed the rainbow bridge last year. I was devastated. We have another Shih Tzu now. She is every bit as sweet and smart, though she has more active personality. Anyone who tells me that Shih Tzus can't go certain places or do certain things, my dog can hike 5 miles without hesitation. She is also happiest when she is with us. She does make these little noises for food and when she needs to go out. Overall, she is a great dog. I hope that you and your dog have many more years together!

I have male 8, adopted a female 2 or 3 mos ago, she was dumb as dumb can be when we 1st got her, pottied on floor, was semi aggressive, kept rolling in duck/chicken poop, first mos I told my husband this dog is more trouble than she's fricken worth, not the nice words i just used, bottom line 3 mos later now she barks to go out, fights w her furry brother, snorts like a little pig, and has an abundance of new nicknames just like her brother weve had for 8 years. My suggestion start looking for another one, just like we did, at first i was skeptical also, yet through all her dumb stuff, she was abused, we dont regret our Little Snort!😊

Same here, when my 13 year old Shih Tzu throws a tantrum he barks and does this really cute Chewbacca sounding growl. Usually he throws a tantrum when my mom's chorkie won't play with him. This pup is being very polite.

We wanted to see a happy ending to this cute little one. And yes, like most people say, that wasn’t tantrum. That was actually patience asking for a some water.

My little girl looked like this as well. My family and I had to put her to sleep due to a tumor growing on her mammary gland. She was 11 going onto 12 years old. I miss her so much ❤
this is so cute, my little male shih tzu is eight years old and when he’s hungry/thirsty, he picks his bowl up and drops it in front of your feet. shih tzu’s are so smart! mine just had to get his left eye removed and we’re trying to cope with cleaning it, he’s having a bit of trouble taking his antibiotics and it’s hard to clean it. he’s such a good boi, i hope he gets better soon. edit: it’s been 2 years and he’s doing amazing. adjusted very well actually & i hate to say it but the missing eye made him even cuter i think hahah he has so much character

I had a shih tzu who died months ago. Whenever she was thirsty she would do the same thing. That's the way they politely ask their owner to remove their needs.

@Daulton Tawney Thank you, I did read the description; however, anyone who has ever been on a diet knows how hungry you are when you cut back on intake.
My dog gets 1-1/2 hr of exercise a day, but when injured myself running & put on medical restrictions I had to cut back on how much the BOTH of us ate-he was acutely aware of his cut in portion size. Hence, the low calorie snack which also has joint benefits.

I love Shih Tzu's...they have such big personalities. Enjoy your time together...2 days ago I had to put my Shih Tzu down as his heart murmur was starting to seriously impact his quality of life (stressed breathing, coughing, fainting) and I couldn't bear to see him go down hill and suffer...one of the hardest things I've had to do. I am thankful that the meds I had him on gave me 4 extra years I wouldn't have had. My house feels empty without him, but I dwell on our happy times together and it has become more of a celebration of life for him...makes the heartache more bearable. It's only been 2 days, but every day get's a little better...I know I will see him again one day and I will go with him to chase all the squirrels we see. Watching this video brings fond memories of my Sebastian. Thank you.
I bet you were a GREAT human to your dog. I think they love helps them longer. We have to be their guardians, and when it's time , we have to ease them on so they don't suffer. Hope it gets better.

I noticed a couple of comments claiming that the dog was overweight. It is simply not possible to tell that from this video. You can't say where the fur stops and the skin begins. All you can say is that the dog is not obese. It may even be underweight.

lynda renaud. He does. I start shaving him again in early Spring & everything changes. He looks so much smaller, he's got more energy & he seems lighter. Of course the 1st shave, I take a tremendous amt. of hair off him. 😁

We have 2 also male 8, female Bella 4, we just adopted cuz she was abused by the owner before the person we got her from, she was dumb as hell 2 mos ago, yet now she's a crazy trip. Wow are they SMART, A great breed of dog, we so love our Jack and Bella. Our furry kids, we have 4 other semi normal kids...lol

I understand what you're going through. We have a Shih Tzu who is 6 lbs overweight. Our vet wants him on a diet. Our hearts are breaking seeing him ask for more food, chasing every crumb he can find and begging for our food. But, we want the little guy around for the life he deserves. We show him lots of attention and affection, and we're walking him every day to drop the weight faster so we can give him a treat now and then. It still hurts because we can't make him understand, but hopefully he'll have a longer life.
