what a question. Of course it is. I just had my first flight this morning and there are so many improvements: toggling external view, smaller and better controller, better picture, more comfortable googles, longer flight time, better access to the SD card and USB part , less annoying sound etc. etc.

I bought the entire Explorer Combo and Fly More kit for the AVATA 1 two weeks ago, I haven't unboxed a thing and decided to send EVERYTHING BACK... including ND filters and extra props to purchase the NEW AVATA 2. 😂😂😂 CHEERS! 🍻

Easy acro is 100% software. DJI could add it to the original avata with a simple software update

It’s not, it relies on the two newly added cameras to ensure safety while maneuvering.

From Mads Tech’s video the FCC hack isn’t working like it did with the AVATA 1. Maybe DJI ended its support of it?

I've specifically waited years for this DJI FPV drone to arrive. The whole package is perfect straight out of the box. Now that the camera has been upgraded, there's no need for clumsy add-ons which degrade handling & performance. Just for reference, I still have the original Mavic Pro.

I’ve still got my Mavic Pro, Mavic 2 and have the first Avata and I’m considering getting it if there’s a good enough deal somewhere. I think this is a great design update for the price.

Those sensors are literally just position sensors. They don't have anything to do with easy acro.

So I updated the software on my avata 2. It allowed compatibility with the goggles 2, Integra and others including the old control.
I think if you buy drone only and use your old gear, definitely.
I brought the avata 2 with the impression that eventually dji will allow the goggles 3 to be used with the Mavic 3. Considering that they have allowed compatibility with the old goggles, it should be sooner or later.

Break anything on it besides the propeller will require it to be sent back to DJI. No way you can replace a prop guard yourself and it’s lighter because they use thinner plastic on it than the Avata 1. If you’re doing professional filming you’ll need 2 of them because there’s no quick field repair. With the AVATA 1 I broke a prop guard and had a spare and was back in the air filming in 15-20 minutes.
The other DJI camera drones are the same way but they’re not meant for close proximity flying like the AVATA and are a LOT less prone to crashing.
So if you’re a professional get 2 definitely

Any real comparison needs to address the messed up FC on the avata 1. You just can’t trust it not to fall out of the sky or go randomly haywire if it bumps into something. Unfortunately this not even addressed on this video makes it of limited value. But the candid discussion of the reduction of the god awful noise the avata 1 makes is helpful so thanks for that.

On my Avata 2 in Normal Mode getting about 26 mph and 36 to 37 in Speed Mode. Not very impressed with that. Would be nice if you could get close to 60 like you do in manual mode or like people do using the DJI FPV drone. I really do like the sound difference!

The motion controller 3 connects to the goggles instead of the drone. If your goggles die your controller loses connection too.

EU EC signal restriction is a dealbreaker for me. 19/ms in EU vs 27m/s in USA for the same price? LOL, my old mini 2 flies almost the same speed as new avata 2 in europe.

The fact that it is 100% nit repairable unless you send it to DJI kind of sucks. If I crack a prop guard on my avata it's like 15 dollars to replace the prop guards.

Yes. Its good enough for youtube/social media though. However it isn't a "massive" upgrade from the avata. Slightly better in color grading and slightly better in low-light.
I dont think it's worth buying right now, if you already have the avata. It's worth the extra couple hundred $'s if you're choosing between the avata & avata 2.

How can a better drone for less money be anything but good? Better design. Better goggles. Better speed and handling. Better firmware. Better sound. Better sensor. Better features… there’s no question this a better drone deal than the original, which I still think is a great drone!
