- Hey everyone! This video is all about setting my first proper hamster cage. The cage dimension is 40 in x 18 in x 18 in and around 720 square inches. I am based in Philippines and all of the stuff shown in the video are from Shopee. The cage is customized from EC Enclosure in FB. The total expenses that I have used is around $328.

this is a great cage, applaud u for upgrading ur hamster’s cage (even if u went broke).
i think the cage is nice looking already but some suggestions if you’re not satisfied would be:
1. adding moss, like pillow moss (adds color and texture and is safe)
2. cork wood and grapevine wood or any organically shaped woods (can really help to bring the natural theme together)
3. ecoearth/dirt digging pit (adds new stimulation plus different texture and color)
and 4. plants [planted in pots]! (there safe plant options for hamsters like spider plants and oat/wheat grass and even herbs like thyme that would look pretty and unique)
setting up cages can be difficult and frustrating at times ..... i find it helpful to take a photo of any cage set ups i have done that i really like so i can re create them again at a later date .
Hi! I’m getting a hamster too, I spent quite a bit but it’s so worth it if my hamster gets a good life. I’m from the Philippines too and I agree, it’s so sad to see hamsters living in tiny cages that drive them insane. Anyways, I love ur enclosure!!!

I really recommend adding ceramic hideouts for the summer because your hamster will enjoy cooling down in it! I looove the whole enclosure, you might be worried because you said It’s your first time setting up a proper cage, but let me tell you that hamster is surely going to love all of the enrichment!

I love your habitat! It's so similar to mine! I have a 75 gallon aquarium that I use for my Syrian hamster, and he's LOVING his upgrade! We used to have a 40 gallon DIY bin cage for him since we don't have very humane hamster regulations in the USA. I'm happy to say with the help of CZcams, I learned how to care for hamsters properly!

nice work my acrylic cage is roughly the same size as yours and I use the exact same transparent niteangel wheel. I've also added a digging pot with some wooden cork/gravels from the shop

Your cage looks great! It’s so nice to see someone spending all that money for good care! I did the same for my hamster and it definitely wasn’t cheap. I can tell you did your research, and I’m sure your hamster appreciates it 😊
i personally liked the first setup best because it had the deepest digging area. but it’s really good for your first one!

I'm from Philippines too. That's why I keep discouraging newbies to get a hamster without providing a proper enclosure. It's sad to see that hamsters here are living on small bar cages and were actually supported by many.
if you could I recommend adding a dig box with hamster safe dirt such as the brand eco earth. its a good source of enrichment! i love the hamster home!!!
Thank you for that suggestion! I’m actually planning to have the other side built with a big digging box for him, since I noticed lately he loves burrowing and digging! I’ll keep that in mind.
I would get a rodent block in addition to the seed mix but besides that everything looks great!

boiii just got a hamster on january too and the amount ive spent on one single hamster is ridiculous but no regrets as i wanted the best life of them and it is my responsibility to provide them with the best life ever

Your Hamsters 🐹 house is gorgeous!! I uploaded a vlog on my channel about our journey creating a hamster house fir our baby dwarf hamster!! We love our hamster soooooo much but he is super snobby lol!!! Its so funny how he is very particular. Since our hamster is a baby dwarf we went with a smaller set up but still big enough for him right now. Eventually we will get one as big as yours. It is very hard creating not only a healthy stimulating yet cozy and aestetic house for a hamster!! I'm not fully satisfied yet either and plan to order some other things as well. You did amazing!!!

Yup it could hold tunnels well since aspens are quite firm. But personally I prefer paper beddings.

You can build something really big and cool out of a large clear bin, and a diy mesh lid. There are lots of tutorials on budget friendly large bin cages here on CZcams. You can also diy a ton of cool things for enrichment in the bin cage. Wish you luck :)

I wish hamsters were legal in Australia. I would love to spoil a little hammy but the law says no 💔💔
