Try shifting the banshee before it tops out. They tend to pull really hard in the midrange. Not sure exactly how yours is setup but it always worked on mine.

I've had or run them all through my life. I've seen a bunch of Banshees lose races that they should have won easily.
I've even seen a tecate' three smoke quadzilla like it wasn't a competition!
My quadracer 250 blew away a Banshee with me on it but got owned when I rode the same Banshee against it.
My comment was due to personal experience, not just talking smack.
@@Mkmike70 tri z is poop. Geometry is terrible because honda had atc wheel base engine position patented. And no one can or will compete with a honds atc. Not to say a tri z isn't fun and pretty cool. But not the same beast. Just a different league
@@kelmanadventures574 not poop did you know the 86tri-z led the way on the tracks all over the USA I loved it the 250r was great but the tri z 6speed took a back seat to no one I raced them all wether you believe me or not on the 3 wheel circuit and in the north east the Tri-z 86 ruled they couldn’t keep them stocked people were waiting for them from their local dealers and settling for 250rs that’s why in todays market there are still so many Atc 250rs for sale they were mass produced honestly I lived it

I need to get a quad asap haven't owned one since I was 16 (1994). I believe it was an 87 or 89 blaster. Lite bolt on mods, intake filter, DG type 2 pipe I believe. Don't know if it was the bike or my racing ability, but I damn near smoked everything I went against (on our home made tracks and hill climbs). The only straight up drag race I ever raced was against my older cousins Honda 3 wheeler. 83-84 200? Or did they have a 250x? I smoked him every time so I don't think it was a 250R, even stock it rips I'm sure. Was red white and blue.

That actually happened to my great uncle... he was out riding one day during the winter and his chain came off of the sprocket and he had to put it back on and his bike slipped out of gear and cut his thumb off but he didnt know until he got home that night because it was so cold he didnt feel it... his finger came off with his glove

I brought my dad's 250r back to life after 25 years, had it running like a champ, learned how to barrel roll it then it sized because I ran 1-8 e85 and 10-w40 and a dust mask taped to the carburetor as an airfilter

I have rode all my life , I was raised in Dyersburg Tn right on the banks of the Mississippi river . All of us in that area ride and faster and baddest possible . I’ve owned about everything from Tri z , 200x , Banshee , you name it , a 250r is one 3 wheeler I have always wanted , and I have raced a many of them . 250r a Banshee don’t have a chance again a 250r . That 250r was built to haul ass ! I’ve had one that would smoke it off the line until the power band kicks in and that motor comes flat out alive . I built a hell of a 350x that was something to respect and it was supper fast , still no match against the power band ! One day , some day I’ll own one ! I have to say the 2 I respect is the 250r and it’s tween the 350x . Wonderful job guy , you can add 4 muffler on the Banshee and it just can’t catch it !

Shit it’s just not working🤦🏼♂️ I know my lash is good for my valve clearance. So do you have any ideas?? I know the fuel’s good, I know the fuel in the bowl of the carb is good, I checked all my bases so good spark and everything so I don’t know🤷🏼♂️

@@burtmcgurt3584 I have owned both as well. They have always bee about the same to me with just the norm pipes/reeds/coolheads/etc... bolt-on type stuff. There's so much stigmata built up about the 250R that i think everyone just assumes they are the fastest things out there. Don't get me me wrong, they are fast as hell, but so are a lot of other things. What really made the R shine was its frame geometry, weight, and handling.

@@TimeMachinesATVs You said it's a 1986 and I just noticed the rear brake caliper link arm when the mullet had the fake hand stuck in the chain and that's a 1985 brake setup and the 86 doesn't use that brake link. Not that it matters but one of the few differences between 85 and 86 if you're buying parts.

Seen the same big bore on a 250r at the Oregon dunes, its definitely at contender out there. That 86 is a collector's bike for sure. The banshee big bore is no slouch, and you can probably make it faster! Get up in there!

I ripped the side of my shoe off when I was a kid. The local tuff guy had a CR 250 Elsinore and said if you can start it you can ride it. I got that bitch going but sacrificed a shoe. I was about 13 and took her for a rip. Love that ATC 250R
