    I love how Perlemuter made Ravel sound like the de-constructed, moderm music it really was, instead of the berlioz-ification that has been imposed on his music soon after. While Michelangeli's clean interpretation has become the standard, it lacked that connection to surrealism that only someone who had known Ravel, like was the case for Perlemuter, would have got.

    Bislang für mich ein unbekanntes Kleinod. Lt. Wkipedia (Dt.) war Perlemuter Ende der 1920er Jahre "ein junger Freund und enger künstlerischer Vertrauter" Ravels - was immer damit gemeint ist. Für den 2. Satz des G-Dur Klavierkonzerts hat nach meinem bisherigen Zuhören jedenfalls kein anderer Pianist das Tempo über den 2. Satz so konstant gehalten. Wunderbar!
