If you claim credit for halving inflation, then you have to accept responsibility for it hitting close to 11% in the first place.
What did Sunak actually do to half inflation?
@@jorgkuijt4735 exactly.
@@jorgkuijt4735 "What did Sunak actually do to half inflation?"

2 simple rules for life;
No.1 - Never trust a tory
No.2 - Never forget rule number 1
I think you might find that the Tories are going to change them rules.

@@davidhamilton7216DO you mean Ban the rules? (Joke?)
The rules sound right 👍💯 .
The stupidest pledge was the one that matters the most to me: reducing waiting lists. My grandmother spent over six months on a waiting list in 1996 after it was discovered she needed a quadruple bypass, or she would die any day. Still took over six months and by that point she was so weak she died on the operating table. Waiting lists mean innocent people dying unnecessarily. Shame on him and the Tories for the devastation they have wrought upon the NHS!
It’s the doctors who disappeared during Covid and then decided to strike when they should be reducing waiting lists; all to try and damage the NHS and blame it on the government.
Simply mind-boggling to Americans where we stringently fight for our right to private health insurance.

Sunak will pass a policy to say he is a tall man next.
Ant man without strength. Suprised he can manage to carry his big head.
He'd have to be a liar - I can't fathom either
The stupidest is that he even got the chance to make a pledge at all.
If anyone actually thinks Rishi cares for what's best for the British people, Boris Johnson has a magical bridge to sell to them.
Will I finally get the unicorn with the bridge?
London Garden Bridge, Tunnel to Northern Ireland, HS2 & 3, Levelling up in the “North” and 40 new hospitals with a free unicorn for every Tory Donor.
I'd change that to "if anyone actually thinks the conservative party cares..."
The same people want Boris to make a return... They would buy that bridge, believe it exsists while blaming labour for any ill effects that comes from believing in Boris and his scam "bridge" and other exploits.
And James does? He took money to lie to the sheep about covid
Rishi Sunak couldnt care less about anyone or anything in the UK,if people believe that he a multi billionaire and the rest of the multi millionaire goverment MPs care about you or anyone else then you are deluded
Don't forget Kid Starve in your comment next time 👍
Exactly ... why would a multi millionaire work for a mere 170 grand a year... if it wasn't lining his own pockets ...
And dont forget the multi millionaires in opposition , forgot to mention that , they also don't give a flying fig
@@craigbaxter8619 .. yeah I know all of them .. and the house of Lords...problem is don't think its going to change..
He doesn't even care about his own kids future. He tells them he's committed to saving the planet whilst reducing fuel duty on internal flights & issuing new oil & gas licences. Just shows how untrustworthy he really is.
So they tell us now the people have lost faith in Rishi Sunak. Well the surprising thing for me is that anyone had any faith in him or his rotten party in the first place.
Labour is the alternative, so no wonder the Tories keep winning.
people have such short memories.. At the time he came in the hope was that the Tories would not lose quite as badly. Now people think he is a failure if he does not win it.
I don't envy him as he tries to look confident and in charge while checking for the knives targetting his back.
Sunak DIDN'T halve inflation, external forces did that, but he will take credit for that, while blaming external forces for increasing it!
Its like saying I'm going to make it warms and sunny in 6 months and thinking it's some kind of bragging point.
The Tory manifesto is a joke. The five pledges are also a joke.
These are not serious politicians. They are a bunch of bad comedians.
There are no serious politicians in the UK. This is a direct consequence of outsourcing all major decision making for over four decades. We now have a political class that are semi competent middle managers...
And the joke’s on us 😡
They're a bunch of children! They literally get away with mucking about, because: you can't hit children!

A lot are though
@@neiltitmus9744Especially the brexiteers. Fking stole my future.
Tory gvt since 2010.... yup not idiots
@@thebrowniestjohnson3244 The Tories have almost exhausted their media war-chest and even their newspaper allies can't help them as much as they have in the last 15 years - the 2008 Subprime Mortgage Lending Crisis was a gift to get rid of an almost unassailable Gordon Brown (the Iron Chancellor) & Labour two years later. Since, we (the general Electorate) have been managed and maneuvered by way of emerging media manipulation - Cambridge Analytica is an example of this but Think Tanks set up since 2005 have been slowly working to gain both credence and media presence by using, for example, the BBC's balanced political discussion policy as a means to that end; all the while building contacts and connections with gullible & corrupt politicians who see Parliament as more a money making opportunity rather than a matter of constituency representation. The iPhone and Android have been essential tools to this end: beaming a subtle, or not so subtle, repeated message into our ordinary digest of news everyday we look. As Lincoln said: "you can fool...all of the people some the time" and it's those few minutes a day that these people [Nudge] us to a cumulative effect over months and years. The clever part is: divining what the ultimate objective is?
food inflation is still around the 20-25% mark on almost all 'basic necessities' and even moreso on 'luxury' items, so it depends what type of 'inflation' you're looking at, and trying to take credit for something that is under the purview of the bank of england and has nothing to do with government whatsoever is asinine, rishi sunak has failed in all measurable metrics and the tory party have failed in every single facet of governance since taking power back in 2010.
That is the problem I have with so called "core" inflation, which is inflation ignoring food and energy, two of the very most essential things for living!
My mum died on the waiting list this autumn after a couple of bungles by the NHS which caused an infection which she passed away from and an allergic reaction, where she had to be resuscitated. Plus she caught covid at hospital too
James took money from the government he pretends to hate to lie to your face about the severity of covid and the need to be medically experimented upon. Wake the F up.
The reduction in inflation doesn't make my shopping any cheaper, It's still going up. People's mortgages/rents aren't getting any less.
LITERALLY getting cheaper on basically everything in the supermarkets. Mortgages and rent has nothing to do with inflation and are linked to interest rates which you should have looked at affording if they increased when you signed. Fuel is down, energy is down, interest rates will fall next year guaranteed.
Well for me bringing down the waiting list was the stupidest as they've done sod all to bring the waiting list down. We need more doctors and nurses to bring the list down yet this government have done everything to prevent any more doctors and nurses coming here. The most important is the same one in my view.

Not sure america has the same non dom visas that rushis wife uses to avoid UK taxes.
The further away the better and pack boris in your case.
Gary Stevenson called out Sunak the moment he made the inflation pledge and said it was the equivalent of doing a speech in January and saying I pledge that by July the temperature will rise by at least 5 degrees.
These 5 pledges. If any have been met and the government want to take any credit, they should tell us how they achieved it. What did they actually do to make it happen?
Fiddled the numbers and the gauge they use.
Its all in the way they say it ,its just words used incorrectly and people dont notice
All they had to do was redefine reality and let the client media take care of the rest. Simple, really.
Reduce the National Debt was one of the five.
Did he mean reduce the actual monetary amount of debt that the UK has built up over generations?
Did he mean reduce how much borrowing the government was doing, and if so, compared to what year?
Did he mean reduce the amount of accumulated debt as a percentage of GDP?
Jo Public would think that it is the first one, because that is what reducing actual debt means, but I'm not sure if any UK government has achieved that.
He probably means reduce it as a percentage of GDP, which considering the huge borrowing that took place to support the economy during Covid (no longer necessary) and the huge energy subsidies to consumers due to Ukraine influenced energy prices (which are being reduced), should be relative;ly easy to achieve.
But whichever way you cut it, debt to GDP has more than doubled in the last 15 years, and even allowing for inflation, it must be at record highs,@@neiltitmus9744

Totally agree the stupidest was inflation ..exactly as said ..treating the public as morons
Hmmm. But ‘17.4 million’ of ‘em are.
The Bsnk of England handles inflation, Not the government.
I agree with Mark in Millhill on cutting debt being the stupidest. They had no plan to get there, in a shrinking or stagnent economy. That was the most unlikely target to meet.
On the most important target, I'd say the waiting lists because it is directly felt by a lot of people.
Most people don't realise that the 'debt' is money owed to commercial banks in who's interest it is to keep on increasing 'debt' because that's how the economy works. We could end debt tomorrow by preventing commercial banks from printing money.
Sunak 'bet the house' on his five pledges but he can afford to lose at least one. With a combined personal wealth of some £750million, he and his wife own four homes, which are together worth at least £18million!

@@Dynasty1818 ohhhhh mildred! the five pledges mildred!
When the original "five pledges" were announced, it was made quite clear that what was meant by "halve inflation" was specifically the CORE inflation measure, not the Retail Price Index. The RPI is much more strongly affected by energy prices, and that one has indeed halved - because energy prices haven't gone up as much this year as they rocketed up last year. But CORE inflation has remained more-or-less steady, and certainly has not halved.
So that's zero for five, I think, on those pledges.
Government didn't do anything. They was just waiting for the next kick back....
Inflation is largely managed through monetary policy- so that is a pledge actually fulfilled by the BOE, not Sunak
Inflation was caused by Supply Side problems, TOTALLY outside anyone's control except perhaps PUTIN.

The inflation was even more s tupid because they did nothing that would help it come down quicker, they didn't do proper windfall taxes. Inflation was mostly caused by profits and they did nothing to reduce that. Which also caused the economy to get worse as people have less disposable income. People with less income cannot look after themselves as well meaning more people are ill. Not to mention that the only way they thought they would could a supply side inflation was by using demand side interest rates, which ups the amount the government has to pay back on debt upping the debt.
5 lies
Here are the 5 pledges he should have gone for 100% on all fronts
Increase UK Debts (currently 100% Ratio of debt to gdp and in 2010 it was 62%)
Reduce living standards (Currently were below 2006 levels)
Give rich people more tax breaks by taking it from the less well off (Millionaire pensioner tax break paid for with Fiscal Drag)
Shrink the Economy (Thatcherism + Austerity x Brexit = economic contraction)
Is that 5?
Not to rain on your parade but that's only four pledges.

It’s mind-boggling to have the government run all healthcare for a working person. The NHS is laughed at by normal, hard working Americans that love and respect our world class healthcare.
The funny thing is that you can pretty much solve all 5, or at least to some extend, by rejoining the EU. So the real question for mr. Sunak is: Why doenst he consider a new referendum if he is actually serious about his own pledges? And the only conclusion you can draw from that, is that he isnt serious and that his pledge to his own cronies to keep commiting to this trainwreck is actually the only important one to him.
