Davy Jones fight in 3 movie was awesome because jack went two to two with Davy Jones balancing on the vertical part of the mast and had a chest knot one hand
Exactly. Everyone applauds Salazar’s skill as a swordsman, but he fights a Jack that’s way out of his prime, likely drunk as hell, and is in all honest, pathetic. It wasn’t a fight. Jack got jumped, flailed his sword around for a little trying to stay alive, and then got knocked to the ground and disarmed. Salazar could be a good fighter, but from what we saw of him, there’s not anything to put him up with Will, Barbossa, or Jack in the first three films.
I think that's kind of his characters point. He acts like a silly fool who is out of his depth to hide his actual skill and lure his enemies into a false sense of superiority. Look at how he handled Davey Jones in number 3.
So true. Just to highlight the example for others: Jones: "You can do nothing without the key!" Jack (*acting like an idiot*): "I already have the key!" It always kills me when people try to Jack isn't a strong fighter. Barbossa was able to go toe-to-toe with BLACKBEARD, with one leg, and Jack outmatched him several times during this duel. Jack prefers to run over fighting sure, but when the chips are down and his back's to the wall, I doubt there are many who could actually beat him.
the really sad fact is that Barbossa was somewhat human inside. The first thing he wanted to do when the curse is lifted is to eat an apple an APPLE & that hits hard if you think about it. He was portrayed as a bad and unfaithful person but throughout the movie you can tell he always stick to his words. He’s no liar and he doesn’t betray his crew eventho they’ve almost went against him a few time. All he wanted was to be human again not just for him but for his buddies. I see people commenting on what a good fighter Jack was but what made this such a cool fight scene is that he actually isn't. He's just smarter. The only reason Barbossa didn't win the fight is that Jack was immortal and trying for a stalemate, stalling for time until the curse could be lifted. In a straightforward fight, Barbossa would've mopped the floor with him and Jack knew it. He played a very bad hand very well and THAT's why he wins against Barbossa.
I don’t think mopped the floor is the best term. The two are likely equal, with Barbossa maybe being slightly better. Jack was seriously holding his own here, even gaining the advantage several times. Also, don’t forget that Jack fought Davy Jones in the third film on top of a mast in the pouring rain at an angle over a Maelstrom while holding a chest, and still disarmed him of his sword. Jack is not given nearly enough credit as a swordsman. Personally, I agree with a lot of the praise in the comments.

What an absolutely fun, well crafted, and engaging movie. Flash in the pan, something that we will rarely see but when something like this comes around, they define generations.
When filming in the cave, excessive make-up was added to the actors so they wouldn't looked washed out on film. When the crew realized how cool the make-up looked on Johnny Depp, they continued to use it on him for the rest of the movie. The island "Isla de Muerta" is Spanish for "Island of Death", or "Death Island".
“Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly...stupid.”
I think I figured it out. The reason why Jack didnt die when the curse ended, must be if their human body takes damage and they transition in a skeleton and back to human, their body must fully regenerate. Thats why none of undead pirates ever retain their injuries and also why Barbossa doesnt bleed from his stab. He was shot in human form, stayed in the shadows while the curse was broken, meaning he retained the bullet wound
Here's some food for thought though. Captain Barbossa admitted earlier that for years he's been "starving to death and not died." That said, wouldn't being restored to normal have actually killed the entire crew from years of starvation and dehydration anyway? Would have made for an interesting twist to the curse. Like given all the thieves a period of time before the curse was made fatal to their bodies even if they did restore all the coins and the blood to be payed.
