      Exactly. Everyone applauds Salazar’s skill as a swordsman, but he fights a Jack that’s way out of his prime, likely drunk as hell, and is in all honest, pathetic. It wasn’t a fight. Jack got jumped, flailed his sword around for a little trying to stay alive, and then got knocked to the ground and disarmed. Salazar could be a good fighter, but from what we saw of him, there’s not anything to put him up with Will, Barbossa, or Jack in the first three films.

    the really sad fact is that Barbossa was somewhat human inside. The first thing he wanted to do when the curse is lifted is to eat an apple an APPLE & that hits hard if you think about it. He was portrayed as a bad and unfaithful person but throughout the movie you can tell he always stick to his words. He’s no liar and he doesn’t betray his crew eventho they’ve almost went against him a few time. All he wanted was to be human again not just for him but for his buddies. Barbossa will always be a LEGENDARY character and the actor who played him did one HELL of a job.. he set the bar so high that Jack Sparrow himself can’t compete. AYEEE CAPTAIN BARBOSSA !

    @laotasurfs1110 Před 5 lety +84

    I see people commenting on what a good fighter Jack was but what made this such a cool fight scene is that he actually isn't. He's just smarter. The only reason Barbossa didn't win the fight is that Jack was immortal and trying for a stalemate, stalling for time until the curse could be lifted. In a straightforward fight, Barbossa would've mopped the floor with him and Jack knew it. He played a very bad hand very well and THAT's why he wins against Barbossa.

    • @a_fine_edition2746
      @a_fine_edition2746 Před 4 lety +33

      I don’t think mopped the floor is the best term. The two are likely equal, with Barbossa maybe being slightly better. Jack was seriously holding his own here, even gaining the advantage several times. Also, don’t forget that Jack fought Davy Jones in the third film on top of a mast in the pouring rain at an angle over a Maelstrom while holding a chest, and still disarmed him of his sword. Jack is not given nearly enough credit as a swordsman. Personally, I agree with a lot of the praise in the comments.

    • @NoriMori1992

    I think I figured it out. The reason why Jack didnt die when the curse ended, must be if their human body takes damage and they transition in a skeleton and back to human, their body must fully regenerate. Thats why none of undead pirates ever retain their injuries and also why Barbossa doesnt bleed from his stab. He was shot in human form, stayed in the shadows while the curse was broken, meaning he retained the bullet wound

  • @DeadhunterThe
    @DeadhunterThe Před 4 lety +11

    Here's some food for thought though. Captain Barbossa admitted earlier that for years he's been "starving to death and not died." That said, wouldn't being restored to normal have actually killed the entire crew from years of starvation and dehydration anyway?
    Would have made for an interesting twist to the curse. Like given all the thieves a period of time before the curse was made fatal to their bodies even if they did restore all the coins and the blood to be payed.

    This is what the 4th and 5th POTC movies were missing, an amazingly choreographed sword fight taking place on a creative set with a great theme playing in the background.
    In Curse of the Black Pearl we had it for Jack vs Barbossa.
    In Dead Mans Chest we had it for the three way sword fight between Jack, Will and Norrington.
    In the third we had it for Jack vs Davy Jones
    For Stranger Tides we had Barbossa vs Blackbeard but that wasn’t the main focus of the climax and wasn’t too long or imaginative and for Dead Men Tell no Tales where Jack was up against Salazar it wasn’t really a sword fight, just Jack being clumsy and running away.
    The sword fights are the highlights of the first three movies along with the ship battles and getting rid of them or just not putting effort into them is why the last two movies failed

    • @mintysausage1771
      @mintysausage1771 Před 5 lety +1

      @@LucasBR702 The last two did have magic, On Stranger Tides had Blackbeards magic ship and a zombified crew, and Dead Men Tell no Tales had...a magic ship and a zombified crew, in fact all the movies have a magic ship or zombified crew, i mean you could say its a curse but it still has the same principles, if anything though this magic/fantasy element is one of the downsides to the franchise, for the first movie it worked perfectly, and the second and third one just about managed to pull it off, but i think after that it got a bit repetitive and over the top for us.

      Wesley Alison Dead Men Tell No Tales was absolute garbage. I've never been more disappointed coming out of the theater! Not only were their plot holes, not only was it rushed, not only did it have a terrible story, but from start to finish it was one disappointment after another!
      Also I'm tired of all the hate towards On Stranger Tides. It was probably the Third best out of the original four.

    Something worth noting is the curse takes time to become hell. You have to actually reach the point where you need to eat but can't, need to drink but can't, need to sleep but can't and cannot feel anything which drives you absolutely crazy. Barbosa's curse was agony after 11 years, whereas Jack only being cursed for a few hours basically just got super powers.
