I use rice water in benzonite clay mic with some olive oil and apple cider vinegar and my hair has been flourishing👸🏾
Im sooo glad you said that!! Im ive been thinking about doing that.. Killing 2 birds with onw stone. :)
Missy Vintage Esq. How often do you use this mixture?
yashica'slogic about once a month to really clarify my hair.
Missy Vintage Esq. that sounds like a great idea. Thanks 😁
Missy Vintage Esq. wonderful idea!
This grew the back of my hair tremendously. I can finally get it in a ponytail.
How often do you rice rinse?
How long did you use it?
Latrice1123 Took about 3 uses till I notice growth, so 3 months. I been doing it for a year now after every shampoo.
Really?? Does it really work?
Sanna Kruger Yes it does! Before I was using the rice water my hair was growing slow.
You need to tell them the full secret of the Yao womens hair. They only use wide toothed wooden combs or fingers to comb hair. They only use rice water to wash hair. Once a week, during the winter. Once every 3 or 4 days, during the summer. They leave it in for 20 to 30 minutes, then they rinse it out with cold river water.
While making the rice water, the rice must be washed very, very well by rubbing it between your hands. Use at least 4 to 6 cups water for every cup of rice. The more you rub the rice, the better the rice water will be. Strain the water, stirring the rice well, into a pan. Add a couple handfuls of orange skins, or the Yao women use pompelo skins, which aren't that hard to find at grocery stores, but they are much more expensive than oranges.
There are 3 reasons for these citrus skins. 1-The oil from the skins help keep mold and bad bacteria at bay. 2-The citrus oil is the primary cleaning agent for the hair, and the nutrients in the rice water is the conditioner. Kind of mother nature's 2 in 1 shampo/conditioner. ;-) 3-The natural citrus sent covers up the sent of fermented rice water.
Bring rice water and skins up to a boil for a couple of minutes, no more than 5. Let cool. Yao would put water and skins in a solid barrel, covered. A good way is in large jars, with a loose lid, kept in a dark, cool place for 2 weeks to a month before using.
Because it's a fermentation, a build up on, or near, the bottom, even a milky, or off white film on top is normal. IF, a darker mold or film starts to form on top, just scoop it out with a clean spoon, tighten the lid, give it a good shake, carefully loosen the lid, remember it's fermented, then place it back in a cool dark place, giving it a shake once a day, until its finished fermenting.
Just remember to start a new batch when you start using your first, so you won't run out. ;-)
I just use a peppermint tea bag and it works really well.
Oh really? Wonderful.
I bring some water to a boil in a pot, then turn off the stove drop a peppermint tea bag in my mason jar with my rice water and put the jar in the pot it gets warm enough to let the tea bag do it's thing...NOT HOT!!! warm enough..Also I ferment my rice for 4-5 days..
do you think rose tea bags can do anything ? I have some that smell really good ? and I don't have any peppermint
Brittney Thompson
Look on amazon.com for your rose tea bags
UPDATE nevermind rose tea don't work it still stink

One of the best CZcams personalities I ever watched. Love this video! And thank you for the clear explanation on how to use rice water. I will definitely start using it from now on.
Thank you Boo. You are the REAL DEAL with all that long thick hair.
my hair grew already it's like a little bit long thx ur the best live y'all 💖 💕 💖
you can also drop some lemon peels in it before fermenting it, then you ferment it (and don't forget to strain out the peels as well as the rice) and it smells like lemonade (the smell won't stay in your hair tho)
Awesome, thank you. The lemon is meant to be good for hair too. Although some find it too drying. I've yet to try it 😊😊.
You have the best rice water channel by far and your demonstration is excellent. No confusion and nice to address how to avoid the dreadful smell that is due to fermenting. Thanks.
Thank you for all your information on the benefits as well as the strength for growth. Appreciate it. Can’t wait to try it
The thumbnail already got me SHOOKETH!!!

Ops! Hi there! Thank u very much for share this recipe with us! I just socked the rice. Looking forward to try it. I really believe in it. My mother and grandmother, use to wash the rice before cooking it. They would save the water and later on, they used it on their face. I used to think they were crazy. It worked , they had a very nice, clean skin. They never tried in their hair, now, I will. 👍🏽♥️

Love the idea of adding essential oils to the mix. I will try this. Thanks!!!😘
Putting it in the refrigerator does not stop fermenting it only slows it down
Thanks for sharing for rice water enhancement. That's a great idea to add the essential oils they all smell great and simulates hair growth as well.

I add essential oils like rosemary, peppermint, lavender, and tea tree when it’s fermenting. They’re also beneficial for hair & scalp.

adding essential oils + applying ON TOP of conditioner are what I was missing. Great video and thanks for the useful tips!
I have these same oils and I was going to use it in my rice water to make the smell better. Glad came across this video. Tfs 😃
Great video! I've tried rice water rinse but only once. I'll be adding this to my regular wash day routine. I'm curious to see how my hair will benefit.

"And a couple of drops of peppermint..." - pours half of the bottle... lol great video
Just be careful with how much peppermint oil you add. Peppermint oil can have a drying effect. Great video and thanks for the tip!
Thanks for tuning in ❤
Thank you. I think i was a bit zealous on the amount of peppermint I've added to my spray bottle and I couldn't understand why my hair kept begging for moisture. U DA REAL MVP HERE SIS.

Hello, love the video, do I have to wash the rice first or O don’t have to? Thank you 💕
Thank you for the rice water recipe tutorial and the hair application demonstration!
You're really pretty, I love your skin! Are you from the Caribbean or Africa?
I have been using rice water for about a month and its impressive. My hair grows really well , but I seem to have a lot of hair loss after washing and my hair tabgles. My hair grade is fine so this concerned me. The rice water has drastically reduced my hair loss to what I consider an acceptable amount.
@Erie B how do you use rice water? How many times a week and do you use it on clear hair?
This might potentially sound dumb, but arent you essentially just making starch mixed with water? Because i remember when I was very little I made glue out of rice water and my teacher said it was because of the white stuff(starch)
@sharon Mauricio yes you work it through your hair in sections, covering each strand. Also massage your scalp .Let it sit for @ least 30 min to an hour or more. The bentonite clay draws all the toxins from your scalp. You can also use bentonite clay to do facials with. Anyway I've been doing this for years now and my hair has grown soo much. My curl pattern is popping and my 4c hair looks silky like 4a. Also if you do this you don't need to wash it with shampoo. After you wash the clay mixture out then you condition it. But make sure you always add moisturizing ingredients to your clay mixture like coconut milk, aloe vera powder, avocado oil, hibiscus powder, things like that .. as bentonite clay can be drying if you don't. Hope this helps!!🤗🤗
I am going to try this with Black rice until Christmas, since it's healthier and richer in antioxidants...
Honestly essential oils are very very powerful .
Please use 1 drop of two or three different essential oils.
I have studied botany for many years. Be careful.
Thanks for your expertise.
Valerie Price what are the dangers of using too much? I tend to add a lot myself sometimes like 10 drops and i have been doing so for more than a decade. I have always been aware that they are super concentrated and need to be diluted in a carrier oil. Nothing bad has happened so far. Is there any scientific evidence to show that using too much is harmful? If not i don't see the problem with being heavy handed.
i just wrote a comment on that. I totally agree...
Is there some reading material you can recommend? Thanks
I have to agree with Valerie & Sophie; although I'm a biochemist, not a botanist. You have to be very careful. It can be hard to keep them away from your face when applying to your scalp. This might be an issue for those who are sensitive to the comedogenic oils. And oils that stimulate blood flow, like peppermint, might get too much of a good thing & find themselves dealing with headaches or migraines. Ijs
Wonderful video, I have tried rice water but not consistently. Your video encourages me to use it more and I like that you had your conditioner left in after shampooing. Very useful and helpful. Thank you for sharing.

Awesome! Thank you for sharing your technique on the rice water treatment! I use it too for myself, daughters and granddaughter. I was definitely helpful about putting the scented oils in the rice water, because it REALL DOES KICK YOU IN THE FACE! LOL! Thanks again!

HOOOOO MYYYYY GOD , that is toooooo much essential oil hahahahahaha. !

Just found this video, its very helpful, thank you. You have really nice hair.
It works. It detangles, grew my edges. Stopped hair shedding.
My hair can smell like rotting fruit, I want growth cause the smell go right out with my shampoo...
I add orange peel. It takes away the odor
Always use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner
@@blackistheshitboyy5597 um.. no. That sulfate nonsense is gonna leave everyone bald. Use sulfates they're good. And most conditioners dont even have sulfates so I dont know why you put the word conditioner in there. Sulfates are good because they remove residue and buildup and clean your hair unlike a non-sulfate shampoo. Plus, if you're afraid of "drying out your hair" the moisture all comes back in with conditioner and leave in/oil/grease and etc.!
Stacy Joseph ok u must be a non African American woman because I have been using non sulfate shampoo and CONDITIONER ever since and my African American hair has been flourishing beautifully some conditioners contain sulfate I don’t know y u commenting on my reply to another African American woman for anyway .. if u don’t have the same ethnicity as me u and me don’t have anything in common when it comes to our hair textures and secondly I have natural curly hair which is low porosity at the moment from using sulfate shampoos and conditioners and what I really wanna say I won’t because using shampoo really is not a must in African American hair due to the shampoo stripping our natural oils in our hair when I speak about some u trust and believe I did my own research and experiments on my own African American hair so learn something before u try to come for me
@@blackistheshitboyy5597 why are you assuming that I'm not black because I use sulfates? The hell is wrong you? I'm black, and I have the most coiled hair around town! But since you've done such extensive research on why using a non-sulfate is good, give me the links and cite your evidence. Have fun with your goddamn build up.
Can I use coconut oil instead???

Wow!! I always thought you needed to boil the rice to get the rice water..😲 this is easy. Thanx. I will be trying this today. How often can i use it in my hair and how long after i make rice water is it good for before it goes bad??
Hi, can you tell us where the hair oils can be purchased? Great Recipe n Video! Thank you so much!
Your hair are gorgeous, l use rice water to thanks for how to kill that sour smell.
Thanks for the video, Iam following your advise and my hair is growing again. I use rice water almost everyday to keep my hair moist, Is there any effect???
My hair is 4b and 4c, and it's dries quickly.
You have to listen to your hair, if it is not responding well with the daily usage, you should scale it back and use it less frequent. Rice water does have protein, so I wouldn't recommend daily usage. Interms of dryness, moisture your hair more frequent, especially when using it often.
Girl it’s a pleasure to see you on iTunes
Hi. Do you have an idea of the porosity of your hair? I’ve read that rice water is not so good for low porosity hair.
Rice water really work I am use from long time and grow up wry quickly and strong 💪🏻 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So good to hear.
Good morning. Is this for natural hair only. Can you blow and style hair after the rice water treatment
No, you can use it on any hair, chemically treated or not. Yes you can style as usual.
Great video! Does the rice water have to be washed out or can it even be applied on braided hair?
You have such beautiful hair!
How long can you store fermented rice water? And where do you store? In fridge or out.
