    You need to tell them the full secret of the Yao womens hair. They only use wide toothed wooden combs or fingers to comb hair. They only use rice water to wash hair. Once a week, during the winter. Once every 3 or 4 days, during the summer. They leave it in for 20 to 30 minutes, then they rinse it out with cold river water.
    While making the rice water, the rice must be washed very, very well by rubbing it between your hands. Use at least 4 to 6 cups water for every cup of rice. The more you rub the rice, the better the rice water will be. Strain the water, stirring the rice well, into a pan. Add a couple handfuls of orange skins, or the Yao women use pompelo skins, which aren't that hard to find at grocery stores, but they are much more expensive than oranges.
    There are 3 reasons for these citrus skins. 1-The oil from the skins help keep mold and bad bacteria at bay. 2-The citrus oil is the primary cleaning agent for the hair, and the nutrients in the rice water is the conditioner. Kind of mother nature's 2 in 1 shampo/conditioner. ;-) 3-The natural citrus sent covers up the sent of fermented rice water.
    Bring rice water and skins up to a boil for a couple of minutes, no more than 5. Let cool. Yao would put water and skins in a solid barrel, covered. A good way is in large jars, with a loose lid, kept in a dark, cool place for 2 weeks to a month before using.
    Because it's a fermentation, a build up on, or near, the bottom, even a milky, or off white film on top is normal. IF, a darker mold or film starts to form on top, just scoop it out with a clean spoon, tighten the lid, give it a good shake, carefully loosen the lid, remember it's fermented, then place it back in a cool dark place, giving it a shake once a day, until its finished fermenting.
    Just remember to start a new batch when you start using your first, so you won't run out. ;-)

My mother and grandmother, use to wash the rice before cooking it. They would save the water and later on, they used it on their face. I used to think they were crazy. It worked , they had a very nice, clean skin. They never tried in their hair, now, I will. 👍🏽♥️

    @sharon Mauricio yes you work it through your hair in sections, covering each strand. Also massage your scalp .Let it sit for @ least 30 min to an hour or more. The bentonite clay draws all the toxins from your scalp. You can also use bentonite clay to do facials with. Anyway I've been doing this for years now and my hair has grown soo much. My curl pattern is popping and my 4c hair looks silky like 4a. Also if you do this you don't need to wash it with shampoo. After you wash the clay mixture out then you condition it. But make sure you always add moisturizing ingredients to your clay mixture like coconut milk, aloe vera powder, avocado oil, hibiscus powder, things like that .. as bentonite clay can be drying if you don't. Hope this helps!!🤗🤗

      Valerie Price what are the dangers of using too much? I tend to add a lot myself sometimes like 10 drops and i have been doing so for more than a decade. I have always been aware that they are super concentrated and need to be diluted in a carrier oil. Nothing bad has happened so far. Is there any scientific evidence to show that using too much is harmful? If not i don't see the problem with being heavy handed.

      I have to agree with Valerie & Sophie; although I'm a biochemist, not a botanist. You have to be very careful. It can be hard to keep them away from your face when applying to your scalp. This might be an issue for those who are sensitive to the comedogenic oils. And oils that stimulate blood flow, like peppermint, might get too much of a good thing & find themselves dealing with headaches or migraines. Ijs

    Wonderful video, I have tried rice water but not consistently. Your video encourages me to use it more and I like that you had your conditioner left in after shampooing. Very useful and helpful. Thank you for sharing.

      @stacyjoseph6707 Před 4 lety +10

      @@blackistheshitboyy5597 um.. no. That sulfate nonsense is gonna leave everyone bald. Use sulfates they're good. And most conditioners dont even have sulfates so I dont know why you put the word conditioner in there. Sulfates are good because they remove residue and buildup and clean your hair unlike a non-sulfate shampoo. Plus, if you're afraid of "drying out your hair" the moisture all comes back in with conditioner and leave in/oil/grease and etc.!

      Stacy Joseph ok u must be a non African American woman because I have been using non sulfate shampoo and CONDITIONER ever since and my African American hair has been flourishing beautifully some conditioners contain sulfate I don’t know y u commenting on my reply to another African American woman for anyway .. if u don’t have the same ethnicity as me u and me don’t have anything in common when it comes to our hair textures and secondly I have natural curly hair which is low porosity at the moment from using sulfate shampoos and conditioners and what I really wanna say I won’t because using shampoo really is not a must in African American hair due to the shampoo stripping our natural oils in our hair when I speak about some u trust and believe I did my own research and experiments on my own African American hair so learn something before u try to come for me

      @@blackistheshitboyy5597 why are you assuming that I'm not black because I use sulfates? The hell is wrong you? I'm black, and I have the most coiled hair around town! But since you've done such extensive research on why using a non-sulfate is good, give me the links and cite your evidence. Have fun with your goddamn build up.

    I think this is a great video the only thing I would like to suggest to you is to get a glass bottle if you're going to put essential oils in your rice water because the essential oils breaks down the plastic and you don't want that in your hair or in your body.

      You have to listen to your hair, if it is not responding well with the daily usage, you should scale it back and use it less frequent. Rice water does have protein, so I wouldn't recommend daily usage. Interms of dryness, moisture your hair more frequent, especially when using it often.
