legend!
+Mad Zach Coming from one himself!
I LOVE EPROM
+Joe Riedel Us too! :)
This video is just perfect. Hard to find a channel that takes the time and puts effort into making valuable content like this for their audience. Kudos
Eprom has come a really long way. Saw him live back in 2011 opening for Paper Diamond and he was alright. Now he is on another level!
his knobs are "one knob to rule them" with low, full, high pass modes. the faders are send amounts to return tracks for reverb and delay. top 8 buttons are one-shots, I think the lower buttons are: 2 beat repeat for tracks 1 and 2 (different lengths), and two toggle returns on/off buttons for track 1 and 2. he has toggles for activate/disactivate tracks 1 and 2. I'm not sure what the two lower small buttons do, and there are some unaccounted-for buttons as well, but this is probably the best, most fun, and simplest layout i've seen
...yes he explained all of this in the video
@@user82938 your reply 5 years late doesn't help anyone, I found the original comment helpful, being able to read it vs comprehend it with only visuals.

eprom is opening for flume and I could not be more excited for that show
wow not sure if this already happened (3 months ago) but I bet a lot of people were not expecting EPROM to be what he is lol
it was just a couple weeks ago! he was really really good. flume was great too :)
Yo I saw it the other way around in LA a long time ago. Flume opened up for Eprom and Slugabed
I cant really imagine something in EPROM to not resonate with me on a universal level wow
from the very first time i heard his work
I'm salivating just at looking at all of those track titles
Eprom is awesome! I can't believe I miss seeing him in Chicago!
dude i saw this guy years ago with just a controller opening doing a small gig. couldnt even really look him up back then. good to see hes killing it
this was mad informant - bless you @DJTechTools
Yesssss!!!! What a beast! More How I play like this please
this dude needs to blow up this year
+azfiu woah man, thats not very nice
+azfiu His Alix Perez collabs are already raising his profile. One of those tracks made it onto Hospital Records 2016 compilation. Essentially the UK knows who he is now.
i just dont get some people on the internet - here is a cutting edge musician and people want him to explode! smh - what is the world coming too...
***** you want him to explode? like a bomb? shame on you...
Happy to report that he is now.
I always thought and have tinkered with something like this, so I'm glad to see it works so well haha.
Such a boss - iam surprised he doesn't have more attention. Keep up the wicked work!
Man, EPROM is my favorite!
Eprom seems like a chill guy. Not what I was expecting.
Man, seeing you at Bangface last weekend was life changing. Unreal
My all time favorite.
big up djtt on this one
This video is inspiring, thanks for sharing the knowledge.
nice insights! thank you for sharing this
super interesting --- dope sounds too.
And here we are in 2022 with shades live. Wow time has flown by
This should be a note to @Ableton, that it would be a great feature to create "Session view Track Groups" So that you can scroll through certain parts without it affecting the scroll of the other.
For example, when he hits those one shot samples, it moves the session view over, but it would be great if it he could move only the one shot track while the two Deck tracks stayed where they are.
yes, that would be a nice feature. a little bit more flexibility with the UI
Cool vid. He's articulate and knows his shit. Thumbs up!
Bro you KILLED it b2b with G Jones for Bassnectars Nye 360 a few nights ago. Hot DAMN that shit was fire 🔥🔥🔥
DAAAAAMN!!! SO SICK!!!!
Love Eprom. Fucking insane sounds.
waiting patiently to see this dude live....
I get to see him next week open for bassnectar
I have seen him twice since this comment haha, and once with SHADES -- unbelievable performance. See you in AC !!
extremely helpful
love love love
the king
simple tricks ...
but simple is always best and is what you end up with after doing lots of narrowing down ....
very useful
The amount of times I looped that section from 2:12... he's super cool
Impressive !
Awesome!
completely agree with his thoughts on ableton !
live4life
I'd love to see an uncut version of this
Dope! 👌
This dude crushed the Dirtybird campout last fall. I was so curious how he had that midi fighter mapped when I was watching him perform. This is awesome. Thanks for the share EPROM, and DJTT! Also, thanks for sharing your Tequila with us! ;)
And this is why I love eprom, no set the same
props!
For that one-knob-filter you have also a M4L device on MaxForLive.com
pretty dope
Badass. That is all.
obsessed with making sure his two channels are off, constantly. Even when no sound is playing he is still checking they are down.
very cool
u a scientist homie
Dude, that was cool as hell! Thanks for showing us :)
How did you map the grain size though?!
AwfulJ he didn't. He edited it with the mouse
EPROM! dope. If only you could map those grain sizes in the warp modes..
+TYLRbass I know right?
+TYLRbass I don't get it! How did he do that??
+AwfulJ he just clicked and dragged on the grain size control
+Joe Riedel mhhhh okay :( i wish they'd put the option though.
That's what Max for Live is for
@djtechtools you should put out more midi fighter pros!
I wish they had more, I would love one in white so bad. Wondering where I could find any?
This was awesome! Do more of these How I plays plz! Also, WTF was up with all that background noise and background talking during parts of the video? Did anyone else catch that?
Dj tech tools! Will you guys plz interview madeon's how I play?
fucking love eprom
I would be very interested in a "how I play" with Anthony Rother. If that could be possible...
Or maybe Paul Brcic
Siiiiick
That Drop at 6:04 was savage
Hell Ya, I always wondered what the heck he was doing with all his gear. Now I Know. One thing I still don't get is, how do you speed up or slow down songs on there so that your bpm's match when mixing. Maybe he mentioned it but I didn't catch it. LOVE EPROM his stuff bumps!
+Cosmic Jay warp mode in ableton
+Cosmic Jay - Try to read up on the specific function of each "Warp-Mode." I realized that using warp modes requires situational awareness. First, you need to ask yourself what you want happening to your audio and how each "warp-mode" will affect it. Right click the grid when in "Warp-mode" and "SET 1.1.1. HERE" is your best friend when matching BPM. Just keep messing around with each mode. You'll get it!
"Beats Mode" - Specifically for drums and percussion. (This mode may work the best for processing power.""Re-pitch Mode" - Vocals, Synths, Melodies. "Complex." All around good for beats, synths, melodies, percussive, but requires a lot of processing power on the computer.""Complex Pro." - Same shit as above but more power.Hope this helps.
EPROM getting big now 😏👽
Him and zeke beats, G Jones, Mad Zach, are my heros of bass
are those midi fighters with faders and pots still available.?
Does anyone know if he just has to manually select each track or is he automating somehow?
Does anyone here know how to assign “insert mode” how he has his beat repeat only on when he’s holding the key he assigned it to? I really want to figure out how to activate that so if I let it go the beat repeat cuts off
what piece of gear is the one on the right? it seems to be Push but i'm not sure...
What is your default launch quantization set at???
How is he launching clips tho? With the mouse cursor or with a button on his controller? it seems to skip that aspect
Where's the parameter that's cutting between the two sides that he's talking about @ 1:45?
Nice clean setup. If your looking to do something similar you don't need to import all the one shot samples every time you fire a new track. Instead load a Drum rack and inside every pad (in this case 8 pads) put a sampler. Then inside the Sampler drag all your samples into the sampler's zone (SEL) and apply "distribute ranges equally". So focusing on Pad 1 you should have all samples you would use for every different track. Now map the chain selector to a Macro (for making it simple to visualise). Repeat the same process for all the other 7 pads and map them to the same Macro. Now the only thing you have to do is create and envelope that changes the chain to the respected music that is playing. You could do this 2 ways. The simplest way to do it is to have dummy clips in the Drum Rack that change the chain's position. But if I were you I would grab a max for live (like the "multimapper" for example) and put it in every playing track itself then map the Macro in the Drum rack to it so that every time you fire a song it will automatically change which samples should be focus for playing in the "One shot" area. Following this logic you can have a max of 128 songs in a set. There are ways for getting higher than this but I think that 128 in a typical liveset like this should be enough. Have fun
I do it like you explain, what I don't understand in his method , is about the crossfader mapping : every time he hit one of is one shot clips, the crossfader move to B, I tried to assign several clip to the crossfader but I can map only one.
You can't do that internally in Ableton but the good news is that you can do it :) By looking at the video I don't see any automation on the crossfade so I'm assuming is doing it externally. From here we can go several ways to achieve this. My way to go on making this is through "Clyphx" which is a script that elevates Live 10 to Live 20 on the fly. The code you need for this is: "[ ] MST/XFADER 127, MST/XFADER 0" put this on a dummy clip on your session (it can be an empty clip) and have that clip looped. Also make sure this clip is in the same scene as your "One shot" clip. This expression will work as a momentary switch meaning that the crossfade will only go to 127 as long as the dummy clip is playing, so as soon as you stop the clip or launch any other scene that doesn't have that dummy playing it will automatically go to th default value 0. Anyway before you go onto making this read the manual because in the end you'll come to the conclusion that there's an Ableton before and after Clyphx. Have fun! :)
wouah ! i will digg about that, thxs
Your approach lacks flexibility when removing or adding tracks. Going through the hustle everytime before playing a set is dumb
Andre Mendes honestly, I use maschine so mapping is much easier for sound packs/ Midi Stuff.
so what is the name of that white 16 button controller he's using?
All the people playing with ableton live are just insane
Where can I get that model of the fighter pro?
interview tale of us Please
Does someone know the name of that white arcade-type controller?
The saturated kick at 0:27. How is it done?
Man.. What was that track/remix @6:04?!? That wuz rad.=]
This is so fucking helpful
Does this guy have a Soundcloud? Twitter?
Eprom is the shit!
Is he the Eprom that was Eeprom and was on thesixtyone?
my style
damn son. See you at Eforest
What is the reverby effect at 2:10 ???
Super simple
Any idea what the track is at 5:50?
9:20 +1 for having fun, not just beat matching and hitting Play..
what is the white controller/drum pad he is using?
It's a limited edition version of the Midi Fighter which is no longer available.
That intro gets a like. Sounds weird and good
Electrically Programmable Read-Only Memory?
How does he gate the one shots to the original track?
Possibly choking groups.
someone should show this guy the octatrack
ending song anyone?
Benoit & Sergio please
6:04 I cant seem to find the remix for "outlander - vamp" with a fat bass drop.
+Jason Lim It was a free DL before his soundcloud got taken down I think. I have a copy you can DL from here goo.gl/WkL9ex
+hungry4wake You are a fucking saint.
wow thanks alot !
+hungry4wake please men tell me that you got more of his soundcloud tracks...?

shhhiiit! din't know the dude trigger shit live.
what was that controller with the rgb led's?
+Vincenzo Piccolo Akai APC40 Mk2
what is the white controller he is using
VERMONT REPRESENT
what was that main controller he was using?
+James Wilcox made by DJ tech tools, but it's been discontinued. it was basically replaced by the MF 3D and MF Twister
+Kellen Howe +Ryan Little thanks guys! i needed up contacting DJTT about it. sucks they discontinued it. that setup looks perfect for what i'm doing. i'll figure it out though.
James Wilcoxno problem, the 3d has similar functionality bc you can map the rotation of the controller to anything just like the levels & knobs but most people prefer the pro, understandably
wait you guys are friends...
