Good advice. I like to put electrical tape around the line in my spool after I cast, so if I backlash badly for some reason, I only lose the line that above the tape.

Nice video Nathan! The way I set up my Shimano's differently from you is I set the spool tension knob to minimize side to side play, Brakes 2 on 2 off or 3 on and 3 off and then use the magnetic dial to make subtle adjustments with different lures. I don't play with the tension knob like you do but to whatever works for you. I usually use 1000 yd. spools of Trilene XL when I'm practicing with a new reel. Its consistent line and not too expensive.
