Hey everyone, I wanted to mention a few things real quick.
First off, the lips are out of sync in the talking parts due to the Twitch stream. CIG posted the full video on CZcams after and I did know about this at time of recording! However, I wanted to watch it with all the live audience reactions and the CR speeches so I ended up watching it on Twitch instead 🤣 sorry.
Second, I don’t like comparing Starfield to SC as I’ve said many times in other videos, nor do I think Starfield is a bad game. I’ve played it, I enjoyed it and I moved on. It was a bit disappointing as it felt soulless and empty compared to the Fallout/Elder Scrolls games (which I’ve loved). The constant fast travelling also killed any immersion for me. Anyways, they are completely different entities and shouldn’t really be compared. I saw so much rubbish online of people comparing them and saying “Starfield is going to end Star Citizen”. So my little dig in the video was directed at those people that clearly haven’t played either game 🤣
And lastly, regarding the fps scanner feature. I wasn’t aware this was going to be in the PU for PvP use, I must have missed that in the presentation. That being said, I can’t imagine it will remain in the PU if we don’t like it. It’s essentially wall hacks lol! So even if it does give away the position of the user, that’s not a great idea. So we’ll just have to see how that develops. I love the idea of scanning the location to add it to your HUD mini map for example, just don’t want it to reveal living entities.
Anyways, thank you for all the love! ❤ There’s a few comments saying me crying at a video game is weird or that I need to reevaluate my life lol If you think it’s negative or “sad” to feel a little emotional about something I feel passionate about and which brings me enjoyment in my life, I think you need to reevaluate your view on the world.
No matter what it is from video games to sport to movies, there’s nothing wrong with caring about something you find important in life. People cry at their team loosing a football game. That didn’t make sense to me when I was a kid. But as I’ve grown and understood the world better, I’ve realised every person is an individual and has different interests in life with different things they hold dear to them.
So let people be themselves. I hope something brings some joy into your life as much as this game does to mine.
All the best,
GFA
About the fps scan they said:
- The scan has possibilities to make you detected ( the same that happens in ships).
- There'll be cooldown so no spamming to simulate a wall hack.
- The scan is limtied in distance. If you look at the fps part you can see the second time it uses scan it misses some of the far away guys running to him.
We'll be there to test and point to CIG if something is abusive or overpowered in the PU. Don't worry, they have the best community ever.
My 2 cents, the scan feature is really good. Because you have to remember our maps will now be linked to the scanning feature as well. I've played an FPS game with a similar mechanic and, maybe it was because it wasn't AS popular, but with built in "wall hacks" it really allowed people to play on an even playing field and seemed to discourage hacking quite a lot.
Not saying anyone in the SC community hacks but, it doesn't hurt to nip a problem in the bud before it starts. ;P EITHER WAY, I think the FPS scanning will become a really good and fun way to play. Because you can have a dedicated tech based player on your team who's job/spec is literally information gathering/hacking. Which would involve said scanning.
Hey mate! Have you played Black Light Retribution? The game was a PVP game based on a very similar scanning mode that basically functioned as a wall hack with a cooldown. And the game was absolutely amazing
The scanning gameplay in PVP will likely have some counter to that, mostly via EMP or jammers, but no details on that yet.
This and BG3 show not just what gaming could be, but what it should be.
People passionate for the game, the IP, and the time the game needs to be more then a minimum viable product.
I'm glad these two games did not come out in the same year, i would be so torn on which is game of the year.
Couldn't agree more :)
I agree, but hypothetically, if what we saw in this trailer was released in a polished state this year, I would have zero doubt that Squadron 42 would sweep the game awards. As GFA said, this game will be emotionally powerful. The performances by the actors are stellar, and the caliber of those actors is unparalleled. This game breaks so many barriers it's insane. With that said, Squadron 42, I am predicting, will come out in 2025. GTA6 comes out in what? 2025 or 2026? If they release in the same year, we will see some insane competition, which will cause all other game developers to seek a therapist. 2025-2026 can end up being the best time ever to be a gamer.
@@fwdcnorac8574 I agree with everything you said. Except, so many people/reviewers have criticized its development over the years, I suspect it won't get the honor it deserves. All of those critics are going to want to protect their honor. They won't want to be seen as having been wrong. I truly hope I'm wrong, but that's what I think is going to happen. The fans will love it, the reviewers will give it a bad review just because of their previous statements.
@BalokLives valid point. But I'll counter with this. Casual gamers don't watch reviews. They buy games based on word of mouth. Helldivers 2 popped off because everyone told their friends that they had to get on board or get fomo. Fomo drives the casual gamer.
On that note, CIG would be smart to make Star Citizen more appealing to casuals. Not by "dumbing it down," but by creating more non-combat pursuits. And I'm not talking cargo hauling or mining either. I'm talking about skiing down that mountain behind New Babbages Spaceport. I'm talking about water boating on a vacation world. Implanting a fleshed out social media app within your Mobiglass where your avatar can gain followers. Clothing designers, craftsmen, custom ship painters, and mechanics. Gambling, sports, liesure activities. If they want to make a next Gen mmo, then they need to attract the casuals. Imagine what a fleshed out social media app could lead to? "Gamer girls" that have zero interest in gunplay can rp a socialite. If they stream Star Citizen and their party boat, it will attract more casuals. More casuals will lead to a larger concurrent player count, and it will flesh out the universe. Make it feel lived in.
And don't tell me it's "pie in the sky". Star Wars Galaxies did it. They had musician classes. Liquor makers. And all other kinds of oddball, off the beaten path character classes. And that game is still played today.
SQ42 is WC. Star Citizen is Privateer. This man has been trying to create the space opera he's wanted ever since he pitched Wing Commander to Origin, 30+ years ago. He's been kicked out of his studios, he's been spat on, shat on, called every name in the book, and you just know that the internet will crucify him every chance they get. But he's been given something that few people ever get: The chance to make his masterpiece. His Game. It's not about the money for him, it's not about fame, it's not about even remembering his name. It's The Game.
He could've given us an updated Freelancer and pocketed all that money, but he didn't. Unlike Braben, he's just focused on one thing: This Game he's always wanted to play.
Sheesh you guys are dramatic 😂
Facts, facts, facts. One of the good eggs in game development left. Sadly, the future of gaming looks a little bleak other than a few outliers such as SC
go back to fifa and cod, enjoy paying 60 bucks for exactly the same game yet with less features and more microtransactions then@@FinleaMusic
@@FinleaMusic Seems you never cared so much about anything in your sad pathetic life. Except ofcourse hating on people who do.
This is his magnum opus. What a lucky man! He's an inspiration and a lesson in perseverance and determination.
21:20 This my guy was a transition from in-game to a cutscene. Absolutely fantastic. That's how it's suppose to be done.
I only just realised that when watching it back and hearing the dev explain. Holy moly, you’re 100% correct. We’re all in for such a treat when this game drops 🥰
@GFAPlays yeah you can tell it's a transition, cause Grave's arm comes up unnaturally quickly.
Guess thats one of the little things they need to polish off
Chris Roberts made me upgrade a 286 to 1 MB RAM to have enough EMS to see the hand on the flightstick in Wing Commander.
Now I'm upgrading my rig again. Also because of CR...😅
SC is something never attempted before, a complete new level of gaming and game. SQ42 will totally be this generation's Wing Commander. After all what I've seen since I first subscribed on this obscure website, and got this golden ticket, I have complete confidence in CiG, especially after they showed a working server mesh.
This is bloody amazing.
23:44 - I don't think is getting enough attention, I've never played a game which handled NPC's moving such tiny objects in a cupboard so flawlessly before. Usually they just kinda look in the cupboard, or grab a specific item and leave straight away, or just wave their hands around a bit. Only in cutscenes did it ever work. Here she effortlessly picks up different bottles, the ice pack, no clipping, glitching, even putting the objects back down, not even a hint of issues, very impressive.
Such a valid point! This is HUGE.
And the smile on the face of the NPC guy standing next to her. That's so immersive to see them having their "life" rooting, with backstory.
Cyberpunk has that level of detail as well if it comes to animations, transitions etc, it's absolutely insane when devs show care in these cases and I hope we'll see more games take that approach.
I think the battle of Vega is going to be the opening of the game before you get into flight school, that’s where the pc is talking to Gillian Anderson about applying, and then later they show the girl asking the PC about how they deal with what happened at Vega
That is a great guess. Very possible and I think you’re onto something! For sure looks that way. And by the somber tones when they mentioned it, certainly sounds like it doesn’t end well. I just hope we keep the amazing cast for as long as possible and they’re not killed off too quickly 🥹🤣
@@GFAPlays If you remember the original bishop speech video from 2016 or whatever I believe he's addressing the UEE congress about the vanduul atrocities at Vega.
I think the whole fleet we see at the beginning is going to be destroyed by Vanduul.
As I understand it the battle of Vega was lost, according to lore, and there has been previous footage of the character rummaging through Bengal carrier debris in EVA
Yeap and then the alien invasion
The ships in that fleet at the beginning consisted of Retaliators, Hammerheads, Idris', Javelins and Bengal Carriers. There were also Hornets, F7A's and F8A's. So awesome 😄
F8As the military has the A models Civies get the Cs
And one Bengal carrier had massive battleship like turrets on it as if it was a different model. 😮
@@thetiptoeterror2383 I think those were an unannounced cruiser model. There are quite a few other differences between them and the Bengal in the foreground (including seeming to be sized between the destroyers and the carrier).
@@thetiptoeterror2383 it is its a different model 2 engine pods and 3 centerline guns
That is the UEES Corvus. It's is seen in the hologlobe behind Bishop when he gives his speech. There's also another Bengal-style small carrier in the fleet but it remains unknown as to what it's name is.
Honestly anyone who have played star citizen and is about flight sim, when first sees Star Field ship combat, will knows that star field can't even touch SC on spacebsip combat
I don’t even know why people compare an action rpg with a simulator game like sc.
@@WMVKMBN yeah. When Starfield trailer came out and people say it's SC killer, I thought them funny.
The little turrets on top at around 5:00 are maneuvering thrusters. The hornets have the articulating kind. What you see them do is control counter thrust or help in strafing. Go in the PU and watch them work as you fly.
The Battle of Vega is a well known historical event in Star Citizen.
The 2nd Fleet was patroling the Vega System on the border of Vanduul space in order to prevent the system to fall.
Then the Vanduul attacked.
It was thanks to Admiral Bishop (Gary Oldman) that the line was held and if I remember correctly even a Vanduul Kingship was destroyed for the first time by the UEEN, but only due to some costly tactics and heavy losses. Bishop survived and was able to convince the senate to restructure the UEEN to fully dedicate it to stand against the Vanduul threat.
You can actually read a lot about the time the game will play in the Galactapedia. What we don't know are some of the finer details and stories of the individual service men and women.
It's likely that the "I held the line" speech is actually pretty early on in the game and will come shortly before the battle against the Vanduul begins, with the rest of the game then dealing with the aftermath.
This year they said no video marketing team at citizencon. I think that was the best choice they could have made. Everything shown this year was dev assets. Even Base building is whitebox design level assets they are not in the production line yet where they actually build them out with features but that they have done that level of design is really good. It also fits with everything else so you see how they plan to fit it all together. The hard part with be replication layer.
Benoit Beausejour (CTO) confirmed that meshing is working, that they are more advanced than what they thought, and yes they are confident that everything, including meshing, is coming in the year
You pullin my leg!
I know I know haha but as I’m sure you know by now, we have to take any info or timeframe with a pinch of salt so that we don’t get our hopes up. What they’re making is so complex that delays are almost certain (which is totally understandable, I’m not criticising them about that at all).
So whilst I love your optimism, I’ll believe it when I see it 🤣 that being said, I’ve still got my fingers crossed and feeling excited for the years ahead!
Except base building I think. That talk was specifically titled 'the future'.
@@Godwinsnameyeah for sure. I mentioned that in the video at the end. Base building is at least 18 months away. So we’ll talk about it more next CitCon where they would have had a solid 9 or so months working on it by then :)
Yes base building is not even started, they said they begin Q1 2024, it need so much different system from meshing to Maelstrom that we wont see it soon lol@@Godwinsname
You hit the nail on the head. This is a large scale passion project and it shows, and its why people should be excited for the game. Modern dev studios are run by billion dollar publishers that want to push out the same game every year that has an established name they know will sell. Imagine being a dev studio working on the 15th iteration of Call of Duty. Why would you be excited about that, on top of the publisher pressuring you to pump it out as quick as possible so they can have a good quarter earnings for the stock holders.
For sure. I do understand what you're saying here too. I just feel like even the big companies used to make games for fun. Most of the time it was what they wanted to play too. Just like what SC is doing now. But for most of these companies, that's all a time gone by. They just care about money money money and how they can rinse their audience for the exact same game with a slight re-skin every year. Disgusting.
@@GFAPlays Think the only other moderately sized company that's actually passionate about the games they make, ensuring they release a good product and not rushing a game out is Grinding Gear Games with POE 2. Completely different ball park when it comes to type of game, but they're also the top of their genre for a reason and it's similar to why Star Citizen and Squadron 42 will be top of the genre in years to come.
and one Dev revealed that this trailer hasn't even had global illuminazation lighting affects applied to it yet. Was at the event LIVE. It was awesome. (I"m the goober at 34:10 holding up an iphone with the light that popped on). Was a great Citizencon. Glad to have been there for a little piece of SC/SQ history to be made. Server meshing displayed AND the SQ42 feature complete announcement. Truly a great event. Met some future in-game friends too.
No way you were there! That's amazing dude. I am so jealous. The flights were just too expensive for me to fly from the UK. But I am not missing the next one! No chance!
So wholesome to hear this! What a lovely community we have and what a game we are going to get when it's all finished!
If you only had the first day of CitizenCon, this would have been the best one ever. This put it over the top. I'm am beyond excited for Squadron 42. There's already a sense of vindication, with it being feature complete and the StarEngine demo going viral. I can't wait.
Couldn't agree more! What a great year we have coming up!!!
The guy called Mark's character 'blue' as in Navy boys in navy blues.
I see! That makes sense. I really heard Luke at the time haha 🤣 thank you for confirming
@24:40 correct. Squadron 42 is the linear storyline, where the PU (Star Citizen) is the open world MMO. SQ42 takes place about 5 years before Star Citizen too.
That linear story is supposedly going to be set in the same environment that is intended to make it to the PU (the Odin system). I think that you'll just have to make sure not to go too far off the mission waypoints to not fail your missions in SQ42.
CIG have said that the game is supposed to be open-world, (probably region based and not as open as PU) but it will also have Co-op! Which is very exciting
The open world version is called Star Citizen. Squadron 42 is the single player. You can play the open world version / Star Citizen now. However it is still in Alpha, still have bugs, and it’s multiplayer.
Also is not pay to win.
You don’t have to buy lots of ships with real money.
Base game is only 45-50. And most ships are available in game with in game money.
Learning it is a bit much however plenty of resources and players are extremely helpful.
There is also an event called FREE FLY where you can play for free for a week, to test if you can run it and if u like it. Next one will be mid November.
Man, THERE ARE many easter eggs already in PU. But mostly recognizable by those who know the way Chris Roberts went in his game-dev career and those who played Wing Commander, Privateer, Starlancer etc. I'll drop just few examples here:
- Crusader Industries manufacturer and Crusader gas giant - named after "Crusader: No remorse" and "Crusader: No regret" games, made by... yea, Origin Systems.
- Origin Jumpworks manufacturer - named after Origin Systems company, where Chris made his "Wing Commander" game franchise.
- Wing Commander concierge rank - named after "Wing Commander" game and "Wing Commander" movie, made by Chris Roberts.
- Anvil Aerospace manufacturer - named after Digital Anvil company, founded by Chris Roberts after he left Origin.
- Anvil Arrow and Anvil Hornet - named after light fighter ships in Wing Commander game... etc, etc, etc.
The "turrets on the top" are the MAV's. Manuevering thrusters. Star Citizen / SQ42 flight model is all about thrust from the main and MAV thrusters, and the thrusters are physicalized, move and thrust as appropriate to accomplish what the pilot control inputs. You strafe up, the thrusters on the bottom open / unfold / angle and thrust.
Including some ships having longer delays in thrust output due to thruster design. The Hornet shown, for instance, has "better strafe thrust" in most directions, due to the gimbaled thrusters - but they add a fraction of a second before the thrust kicks in after said control input.
I mean, Hornet *also* has a big gun turret on top, pilot controlled and thus I think really just a fancy and wider angle gimbal.
My take on SQ42 gameplay, there will be multiple paths through the story, but all paths result in the same ending but for little details. Unlocking hidden / bonus missions, some NPC's getting killed or not killed, etc.
The first time I set up all my sticks and such, and had the lights lowered, my roommate came in and said "It looks like Darth Vader's bathroom up in here." :D
hahah I love that XD I hope you gave an appropriate response
I hope so! Mass effect style!
21:48 OMG is that Rhona Mitra.
YES IT IS! GREAT SPOT
7:04 As retired Air Force, Does the NAVY Salute as an officer walks into a room, or just stand at attention? In the Air Force, we call the room to Attention. If you salute an officer, they quickly salute back and then tell you At Ease or As You Were. But that is Outside, or if Reporting to them. Unless the standing order on the ship or offices is no saluting or calling the room to attention. But that is known by all who reside in that area because the officers will tell you. So you do not keep calling rooms to attention when they do not want that to happen in the area they work.
For the Officer to not salute right back, and then say At East is not proper etiquette.
Yo that's crazy. How many years did you serve in the UEE? You must have an incredible grasp on what proper etiquette is for addressing higher ups aboard a Javelin lol.
I think the scan/ping will be coming to Star Citizen. Could be good gameplay if we have ping-shielded clothing or EMP items that disable scanner for a time. Maybe they will use EMP emitters to disable scans in PvP environments and when it makes sense to do so.
Audio desync for the mouths. It's fixed on the video they uploaded.
The captain at start is the actress who played sculls in x-files
I got to go this year and the event was amazing. So much good stuff coming up. There was a lot of genuine emotion.
I feel like this really turns a corner for the project as a whole. While SQ 42 is not released, having it be feature / content complete means they can actually finish a game. Showing server meshing working means that the solution to the last major tech hurdle works at some level. It will still require iteration and will be improved with dynamic server meshing, but they can at least start expanding the universe in the near future. I think we could see improvements in the responsiveness of AI with servers that aren't tasked with running an entire star system.
Really enjoyed that. Also 27:43: Gave me Half-Life 2 Citadel vibes - like the feeling of the first time you're seeing it up close
Thank you :) one of my friends just said the EXACT same thing to me on discord. How crazy haha you two on the same wave length!
The captain in the opening sentimental scene is played by Gillian Anderson of X-Files fame. The mouths were out of sync if you played the version that was streamed live. The version released by CIG is good.
I know there was a "The Terminator" Easter Egg that I saw a long time ago. But after all this time, I'm not sure if it made it in. Which is sad. I really liked it.
The scanner is going to come to the MMO from what I understood, but if you use the see though wall you also gets pinged, as it's a much more powerful scan.
The person you recognized is Scully/Gillian Anderson from The X Files.
You're one of the best youtubers who make star citizen stuff. You're very genuine and nice to listen to.
That’s very very kind of you. Thank you 🥹 I’m glad you enjoy the content and I hope you continue to enjoy it as I continue to make it. I love this community we’re all building together here.
Also the mouths are off because the stream was dsynced, the upload on CZcams it looks right
You are incorrect about the personal radar. They are bringing that to the PU. but they will be balancing it with items and emissions so that you have to think about using it.
Henry Cavill did a small bit part as a fighter pilot for free because he just wanted to be in the game.
NO WAY!
I believe the scan ping is coming to the PU. The trade off is that you instantly alert everyone to your presence when you do.
It's not the game companies that "don't care anymore." It's the publishers who push developers with deadlines and funding that are impossible to meet. This forces games to be released before they're finished in a buggy and scaled back state. Now there are some developers (I won't use names) that release the same game again and again and again with objects that are re-skinned for the whatever new theme they are going for.
14:35
It *should* be available in multiplayer.
But only as a rare piece of military tech that massively increase your signature, making you stand out on the hud of regular players in the same way.
Manchester got me good, my friends and i during the watch party were frozen😂 and gasping
haha I was so confused at the time XD
they really needed to get Peter Serafinowicz for the weapons guy! He was the weapons dude in "John Wick"
OMG imagine that haha
Backed it right at the start havent played it in years, Might give it another look, I remember streaming the Hanger module as soon as I could download it, It's come a long way.
Starfield took 25 years to be realized and look at the utter garbage that was. So to all the nay Sayers take a back seat.
Starfield didn’t start CHARGING people 25 years ago you shill.
Star citizen players literally got scammed for over a decade, and people like you ask for more.
It’s hilarious
bs. max 4-5 years
Starfield shouldn't even be compared to SC, it's like comparing a rock to a mountain
Depending on when and what you select you get both the PTU, and SQD 42.
hope its kindled I would say, I've been a backer since 2014, at times I lost interest to SC and SQ42 due to long waiting times ( more than a decade more or less) but having watched this, really made me hopeful again, I mean the tech has come a long way since the last SQ42 trailer ( like 5 or so years ago), CR said that SQ42 is in polishing stage so hopefully it wont be that long till we can really play the full release of SQ42
@19:20 i think the writers here are intentionally making the speech less grand and, as we've already seen in the past sq42 clips, he will give the more "epic" speech later in the game. Just my theory at least.
7:03 Gillian Anderson from the X-Files.
With this CitizenCon, they are finally on the home straight
For sure!!
Waittt @ 21:38 ???the girl from Underworld is in this??? Rhona Mitra?? They have her looking just like her character from Underworld minus the Vampire 🧛♀️ fangs .😄 bruh I love the Underworld franchise. This is insans
33:33 Next CitizenCon will be in Manchester
And I cannot wait for it!!
The FPS scan mode will be in all phases of the game but if you use it. the enemy will be able to detect you also because your e-signature will go up. I agree GFA if you don't like don't use it.
But a lot of sci-fi movies and games use this means to scan and this is the 30 century folks.
Yeah that's totally fair!
@35:48 Larian Studios and Coffee Stain
I agree with you here. I will say, I was more directing this to the large large ones (without naming them haha). But the two you have mentioned also come access as they still actually care about their product/the end user (all of us). Mayve CD Projekt too. They care.

Bagpipes are SO underused for moments like this. Was incredible! I keep watching it haha
Seeing Gillian made me tear up
The Squadron 42 stuff always impressed me, and this time it was a lot of stuff, really incredible what they where capable of bringing into a game, and to think the visuals can still get better is awesome, since they are still finishing Vulkan integration and other visual stuff, as you said there, it's been a long time since a game got me impressed, and since the first Squadron 42 trailer i was drawn in to the idea of a game mede exclusively for PCs with the aim to explore the boundaries of what is possible with the power of modern PCs, pushing it to it's limits, and this trailer plus everything that is in Star Citizen even currently, shows it, this Citizencon smashed my expectations, and it is so good to say this
A small detail i think you didn't get right there, while i'm not sure the on foot x-ray vision will not be on Star Citizen to use, it's not something you can use at will with no consequences, if you use that, you run the risk of being discovered, because enemies can pick that signal and all the sudden you'll have the enemies in alert and knowing where you are, so there is a trade off there for you to choose to risk or not, and probably suitable situations for using it in a safer scenario, plus you need the equipment that does that with you.
Facts upon facts my friend. I was so so happy with this event and the progress that's been made here! Cannot wait.
WIth the scanner stuff, I was wrong indeed. However, I still think it's a bad idea myself haha regardless of how they add it in. I don't think it will ever be balanced. Also, with death of a spaceman, imagine it being the cause of your characters death in game. That would really frustrate me haha
@@GFAPlays Agreed, that would be a nightmare to balance, i guess heavy cooldowns and passive scanners could counter that, "you see them, but they see you too, if they have the gear", and ships certainly could pick on that and find you, making you a target too. But i definitely can see it being really annoying, on the other hand, never go unprepared into the wilds :)
Dont forget, you'll need both the PU/SQ if you want to fully appreciate SQ, CIG designed it that way.
Squadron 42 is a multi branching storyline some 4x larger than a Hollywood movie so you can succeed or fail & to different degrees etc. & non of the graphics here have the new Vulcan renderer etc. Imagine it polished & optimised 😁
I cannot wait. The next two years will be unbelievable :)
So, THIS is supposed to get everyone on the same page before you head into the Persistent Universe.
Absolutely!
I think they mentioned that the scanning thing (in squadron you get wall hacks), will be in the PU but you just get map pings etc. And there are requirements as well as downsides. First of all, your capability to scout with it, depends on your suits scanning potency. To get like a recon suit with a good scanner, you surely have to compromise on other features. Secondly, doing the active and/or charged "ping"/scan, will also highlight you as a beacon. So if you go into an area trying to hide, you might want to disable your passive scanning too, as all of it increases your EM signature for others to detect.
And lastly, I think it is very cool how different suits and helmets give you different UI elements and abilities. I would be down for a wall hacks predator helmet that is very expensive, but can show characters and objects through walls for limited times. But it would be really expensive, offer poor protection for the weight class, and also highlight you as a beacon on other's maps when you do an active scan.
I do see where you're coming from, but I don't think any version of it will work well in SC. Especially when death of a spaceman is in. Just seems like it gives too much of an unfair advantage to the user IMO.
Honestly, It reminds me of a mix of Mass Effect and CoD Infinite Warfare, which was an amazing Sci-fi single player campaign. The uniforms of the crew on the bridge especially remind me of Mass Effect.
To be fair, it seems like a pretty common design choice. Battlestar Galactica and The Expanse had a similar style if I remember correctly.
@@randlebrowne2048 still, those uniforms are clean! I have always loved the dress uniforms for the System Alliance so seeing a similar design makes me happy.
For sure, I see what you mean. I get a similar vibe. Even with Firefly haha. All of the above were fantastic so if it feels like them, we're in for a treat!
Still in polishing... so i expect the lip desync and the fram shuddering with anyother issues to be addressed before release...
Lip sync was due to the Twtich stream, so not actually an issue. The frame shudders will most certainty be fixed (I think lol)
Audio desync from the twitch stream.
I thought the first Manchester scene was ingame too 😁
Yeah, the *actual* in-game stuff is almost photorealistic! Easy enough to mistake a real long distance shot for one!
haha it really got me!
18:30 just something i doubted for a while, it probably is an older version of the cutlass, they'll probably use reworks of the old 350 model too just for immersion :)
If I had to guess it's part of the Shipjacker faction as they supposedly modify ships and such.
Maybe, though I think it may be a Cutty that was modded by the criminal org. It looks like it uses a different ships thrusters in place of the default and it looks like there are additional thrusters near the front.
@@linkblade0 the back thruster are just air intake, this version of the cutty got the thusters on the side, as much as pirate are good with mechanic they wouldnt be able to attach cutlass thruster on its side
@@linkblade0 A few years back they actually gave us a sneak peak at some ship designs that were specific to SQ42. Among them were several *heavily* modified Cutlass variants. I remember one having big gun pods where the front winglets are normally.
This was the same video were we got the first look at the redesigned Vanduul ships.
SQ 42 comment this is only the first story and it has 28 chapters. They plan to make 2 more stories and I am sure how many chapters
Crazy!
33:27 I've replayed a lot this moment
Me too haha
Sorry for yet ANOTHER POST but Bored Gamer's posted a video of this raw, with no reactions and the lip sync is fixed. For those that want to see it that way. (Honestly, it hits a bit different when the mouths move when they're suppose to. :D)
Haha I did know this, but I wanted to watch it with all the live audience reactions and the CR speeches 🤣 I did mention a couple of times it’s because of the Twitch stream though haha
So, there's a gang in, I think the Malstrom or w/e it's called. The gang I think is called the Ship jackers. And they steal + Modifiy their ships like crazy. For instance here, with the modified cutty with different engines and stuff.
After release its gonna be "Can It run SQ42 ?"
he called him Blue, actually
Ahhh thank you for letting me know :)
The story is linear, but there is freedom to approach to any mission. All you see is Odin and Vega. It will come to the PU
And that is fine by me :) Can't wait!
and right now with current patch 3.21, they've already added jump point to pyro, magnus and tera, though they are just there yet but non operational
If we ever live in the matrix - i want Star Citizen to bei the matrix.
The cool thing is this is prequil to pu so the sq42 character is you pre pu
Man it would be so cool to make different races for created character's.
Soon hopefully!
@@GFAPlays you would think with all the alien ships they will eventually have alien races! 🤞
Bengal Class Carrier
there are 3 bengal class ship in the beginning
1 is the carrier
1 is the battleship
1 at the far right is unknown
scratch that, make that 4 bengals
there's another one 5 o'clock behind the javelin we zoom into.
I think that last one is another battleship type
manchester got me too!
haha I was so confused XD
same here
Impressive what they shown, they never mentioned on what system it was running on, we didnt get a date, so i say this will probably take a few more years to come out and a few more years for it to run well. like would this run on a RTX3060? even with dlss it might be tough right?
Yeah it would I think. The RAM and SSD would be more important IMO. Especially once they get Vulcan implamented!
20:52 he doesn't call that character Luke he calls him blue. im guessing it's slang for you know like police officer 😏 😂.
still early in the reaction vid but the server meshing tech will be coming 31st to Evocati and select random players based on generic criteria such as game time and Concierge I believe. So, while I understand the pessimism for all of CIG's past actions, I think....And I'm not saying I endorse this, but I think I would accept if you were huffing a bit of that Hopeium. But, just remember this saying I heard:
Hopeium is legal for recreational use, but highly illegal for distribution."
Yeah I did see this at the event. I just think that to say it's in the game, it has to be working on a large scale. I do not see that happening on a 100 player server for a while. Don't get me wrong, I WANT to be proved otherwise. I will not be sad if I am incorrect in my opinion here haha I want the game to be out as much as everyone else. Just trying to manage expectations so we don't get over excited haha
@@GFAPlays That's fair. And I'm not really trying to up anyone's expectations exactly. :D But, I just want to remind people that, we can see it being actually worked on. Whereas before, we wouldn't hear even a Mouse's fart on whether something was being worked on or not of this scale/importance. :D
To be fair we don't get angry when he gives dates we get angry when he misses them.
haha yeah which is almost every time with such a complex game XD best to say nothing at all haha
5:25 The biggest one is the Bengal.
Thank you too haha just saw someone else say the same. I had a brain fart and could not remember. It was so frustrating at the time 🤣 thanks again!
@@GFAPlays A couple of those ships in the background looked like a new type of cruiser that shares some design features with the Bengal. They are halfway between the Javelin destroyer and Bengal in size and have big battleship style turrets on top. Engine nacelles are also in a different configuration.
Don’t cry yet! After we get it…
haha yeah! HOLD
WE HELD THE LINE!!
WE HELD THE LINE
Really cool stuff!
Thanks for the cool video! 🙂
Thank you for watching :)
I’m not crying….
Oh I cried, after 10 years since purchase out of shear bloody catharsis 😂 😂 feature complete, thank GOD.
name of ship, Bengal Class Command Carrier. Just think "big cat" next time you see one. It has whiskers afterall.
Only bit I objected to was this bloody horn: 6:08
I am a musician and sound engineer, that is a synthetic software instrument, and a bad to god awful one at that so it really kind'a buggered up that scene for me and made it cringey. That is the type of software instrument I would expect to hear in a game 20yrs ago. But that was the only moan I had but for most folks it'll be fine, the rest was very well received, and hell I adore Gillian Anderson as an actress.
p.s. Also on the mouth animation tech, this game has by far the most accurate realistic mouth movements of any game I have seen over 25yrs, sure you are gonna get a little uncanny valley because photorealism of movement isn't perfect, yet, but it has come on leaps and bounds via the head rigs they use, most games even AAA titles just use janky preset combinations of mouth movements to approximate it, here they took the actual movements and rendered them in as best as possible with existing tech.
To my mind, it is the teeth that need work still but it's all still better than anything else out there presently and seemingly coming.
Edit, oh you meant lip sync, I see :)
I noticed that there were also what looked like a pair of an unannounced new cruiser in the background as well. Looks a lot like the Bengal; but, it's between the Javelin destroyer and Bengal carrier in size. It also has a pair of battleship-style turrets on top of the hull, instead of the point-defense guns on the Bengal. Engine nacelles and bridge superstructure also look a bit different.
haha yeah the lip sync XD it was all down to the Twitch stream. So all good :)
oooo good spot
i think it will take at least another year until we can finally play it, probably more like 2 years. they wait will hurt!
Hopefully the features being migrated from SQ42 development to the PU will come fast enough to at least take the edge off!
Yup, I reckon you are correct
Fingers crossed haha
Bro im literally balling right now. Please
Sq42 is basically the vandul war
Seraphim has forcefields
Anyone know if they said how long the story mode was?
I really hope it's a decent length and has a bunch of side chests and free roam events to do, open world etc.
I can understand if it's not witcher 3 length but god hope it's long enough lol
Looks unbelievable
So it's been pretty much confirmed it wont be an open world game. It will be a linear story (which I think is much better for this game. We have the PU for the open world gameplay and it allows for a rich story). That being said, the game not being open world doesn't mean we wont get some form of side quests/tasks that are not mandatory. I imagine the first chapter will be around 15-20 hours long. Bear in mind they plan on making at least another two chapters after the first one comes out. But this is just speculation. We have no real idea on length. But I think we can rest assured it will be at least 15 hours minimum.
The leaks say it was between 40 to 100 hours but thats leaks so take it with a pinch of salt
Everything looks sooooo good!!! And polish phase only means the PU will gain so much more!
Exactly this is what im excited for, all the PU content and uldates to come. And ofcourse S42 looks amazing I cant wait for that now.
@@Garflog643 I have stayed media blackout for the most part with S42 to this point and am now more excited than ever. All the other content that's in grey box, and to be honest will be in the game I feel within a year, due to Montreal team being so damn good at what they do!
@caseygalerneau4448 exactly, I actually believe Chris Roberts when he said everything we saw will be in the game withing the next 12 months, at least most of it and thats super exciting. With all the people freed up from working on S42 it will start rolling out. Ive bought 3 new ships ive yet to even spawn in game let alone fly, the F8C Lightning, Spirit A1 and the Hull C so I'm excited to jump back in after an almost year break.
IMDb lists all the caracters mark hamill is lt card Steve Colton
"Goosebumps season"
Heck yeah!
It will truly be one of the games of all time.
1000%
this will be the best videogame ever
Without a doubt in my mind!
No it won't!
I though it was vector thrust on top of f7
Bengal Carrier 5:23
Thank you! Haha it annoyed me so much I couldn’t remember the name. Had such a brain fart moment 🤣
If you didn't catch it, there is a battleship variant of the Bengal carrier just in the background of the Bengal shots. You can see the 3 massive turrets where the flight deck is on the carrier version.
@@generaltso0986 It looks like they might be cruisers or battlecruisers. They seem smaller than the Bengal; but, larger than the destroyers. Engines and bridge superstructure were also different from the Bengal. Definitely look like RSI ships though!
