This is a Mandarin-Chinese song titled "The Lone Hero" in English, which serves as the theme song for the American-French co-produced animated series "Arcane: League of Legends". Sung by Hong Kong singer Eason Chan, the song was released in November 2021, with the lyrics written by Chinese female lyricist Tang Tian and the composition and arrangement by Chinese composer Qian Lei.
Tang Tian, the lyricist, was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer at the age of 29. In an interview with a CCTV reporter, she expressed that "with parents and loved ones around, we must move forward", which inspired her to create this song.
The song's theme is "courage" and "perseverance", highlighting the importance of having the courage and determination to face difficulties and challenges. With its catchy melody and positive lyrics of encouragement, the song has become widely popular among young children in mainland China, earning the title of a "new children's song" and a "song of the 2000s". Furthermore, the song has been associated with anti-lockdown protests and was chosen to be played at the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup football tournament.
