Heartwarming Octopus Stew, Spanish Octopus, Galician Recipes

  • OCTOPUS STEW: Ingredients (4 people aprox):
    2 Kg cooked octopus
    1 Onion, chopped
    4 Garlic cloves, chopped
    3 Carrots, peeled & chopped
    2 Tomatoes, chopped
    1 Green pepper, chopped
    4 potatoes, peeled & cut in cubes
    2 tbsp Sweet Paprika
    1 cup of (good) red wine
    2 cups of water (from cooking the octopus)
    Octopus Stew is often cooked in Galicia in different versions but is not as well known as Octopus Galician style. In fact, my dear good friends have told me that the octopus stew, cooked in an area of Galicia called Mugardos, is one of the best on the planet. And if they say it, I believe it.
    This recipe was passed on to me by my cousin Rosi. It may not be like the Mugardos version but I can assure you is tantalisingly tasty. I really enjoyed it and hope you do too.

    No need to worry about fanciness...home style cooking and serving is best! Absolutely delicious octopus stew. I love it! I can get frozen octopus at my local oriental grocery store. I have to make this! Thanks for sharing.

      @RivetGardener, thank you. It is very filling 😁 but remember to test for salt half way through so it comes out perfect 🙂 and have some good crusty rustic bread on the ready to dip in the juices. Nom nom.

      @@thespaniardskitchen9772 Oh yes, rustic crusty bread we have here too, and for sure with this recipe! I have 2 other videos in the pipeline, however I think this will be the third in queue, as I love Pulpo. I try to upload a video once every Saturday, sometimes a bit more often, but that is the routine I have settled into. Thanks for your reply!
