I am a very frugal shopper. I couponed, bought clothes a season ahead in sales, saved 5 years to go to Disney in the 80's, paid cash except for car and house, gardened, canned, made grocery list from menus, and saved wherever we could through the years.
Most of early years i was a stay at home Mom with 4 children in many activities, bought a new car and built new home. I used my time wisely and planned my trips well. So i have paid my dues.
I buy beef and pork meats from neighborhood butcher and Sam's.
We buy 30% of other staples once a month at Sam's or Aldi.
But for over 60 years I always buy our food in CYCLES. That means I buy in season, and the cycle sales that occur every 8, 12, or 16 weeks.
I never buy food we don't like or need. No waste by throwing out leftovers. I planned to make potato patties from mashed potatoes on the next day or two. Roast beef leftovers in soup, sandwiches, etc.
Now I always shop 70% of our non fresh meat foods from Publix. We buy mostly BOGO which is using CYCLES for the cheapest place to shop with excellent quality and service at Publix. I adore Publix!

Exactly why Aldi has lower prices. They aren't overloaded with stock and taking up shelf space for 10 different choices on one item.

🌄 morning danno. Husband and I went down to Cincinnati to jungle Jim's. I had never been to jungle gyms,we also went to a bbq place called candy pig and it was amazing the best bbq I've ever ate but the prices were steep same with jungle Jim's. we then stopped at a pizza place and it 80 for 2 extra large pizzas. We also stopped at a pie place got some pies and peddlers paradise. That store had so many isles of old antiques but overall we had a good time.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Yes!! You nailed the list and in perfect order. I do shop all of these. I went to Kroger this week and my total was $90 until all the sales, clipped coupons and digital coupons were engaged. I ended up with a bill of $52. Almost (not all) were on a sale of some type, but I still saved a bundle. We are also blessed to have a Rulers nearby here in Ohio, and they usually have a lot of similar Kroger deals. We raise our own beef and buy the rest at a local butcher, so i can't comment on meat value & quality.

When I don't have alot of time for the shopping "pregame"😂, I scan as I go for Kroger digital deals. On the buy 5 (or 3, or 6...) it's pretty easy to stock up. I love Meijer for their fresh local produce and convenience of everything in one spot.

This would be a hard one to determine...so many variables involved in determining the top 5. Mine are Meijer, Walmart, Kroger, Aldi and then all the others. Good buys from all at times. I do very good with MPerks at Meijer. Saved a $1.00 a gal of gas with mperks and they have a great quality of vegs/meats. Great value brand is very good at Walmart...love their frozen vegetables. I think it depends on people's situation as far as health needs, location, # of people in the family, likes/dislikes of food, financial situation. So many different things to consider. Great discussion topic!

My top 5 best to least favorite. Sam's, Walmart, Target(just this year), Woodmans(dropped to 4th this year) and i guess i have to say Aldi because i don't think i shop at any other grocery store anymore even though i only get there maybe twice a year. . kroger and Meijer haven't been in them over a year. Sentry, I haven't set foot in that place since i left and that is something like 2.5 years ago. My favorite non grocery store i buy food at is the Kwiktrip gas station. even when i worked at walmart and sentry, i got certain items like bread, bananas, etc from the gas station instead and they would always call me out on it and we would just chuckle about it.

well since I am in Minnesota, my top 5 are Aldi, Trader Joe’s, HyVee, SUN market, and Walmart, for best deals. Our available stores in the city are different. But I very rarely go to Walmart because it’s inconvenient for us.

I disagree. My opinion would be that Meijer is #1. They never raised prices up. Within past month they lowered prices on over 10,000 items. Maybe meat prices didn’t drop, but many other items did. Maybe you should read the ad before coming into the store. Watermelon $2.89 next week for the large. You can’t tell people prices went up went they really dropped. You must be blind to not see the new low price tags everywhere. Meijer does have great quality and the best prices. I appreciate your video and your opinions.

@@janedowasjanedow That is called a sale! Not lowering prices! If you walk around the store there are tags that state “new low price”. Go see for yourself if you don’t believe me. Several stores been lowering prices (including Target, Meijer, and Walgreens). You have to look that up on the news. It’s not only seasonal food. It’s a bit of everything that they are lowering prices.

We watched one walmart's meat counter carefully for 3 minths, a second for 1 month, and a third semi-carefully for 1 month; and hes its been quite a whike, there were some regulatory prob.ems, and supposedly all is good . I am not convinced that at all time all the dates are good on all the product; either that or something is allowing some of the product to puff and bulge and it is seen as acceptable by associztes because the dates and rules take precedence over puff and smell. - We like to be able to trust our meat counter with minimal inspection and Walmart doesn't have our trust.

Whenever I buy any kind of meat or produce it's because I am going to most likely eat it for dinner that day or in the case of meat freeze it with the intention of eating it within a month max. I have never understood people who buy truckloads of beef and chicken to freeze it and 3 years later still haven't eaten it.

Too bad Jungle Jim’s isn’t in every state. I think they could be the Buc ee’s of grocery stores if they were.

Same here, poor quality meat and poor selection at WalMart, but much better in NC at Lowes, Harris Teeter and Food Lion

I only shop walmart for shampoo, deodarent, cleaning products, clothes (sale or clearence). Produce is crap, meats are horrible, dairy is a no go as well.

I hate Walmart and Great Value, always have. It's a last option for me, but that's just me. I know some people who like it.

Can't stand Walmart, I rarely go there. It is because you are lucky to have two checkers and it is always a really long line. I mostly stopped going there because they would never call for more checkers. Just a flippen nightmare.

I hardly go there. I don’t think their prices are very good. The meat prices are outrageous. I do better shopping sales at other stores.
