    Wow ! Great information at last, I have almost lost my snake by listening to bad information on CZcams from people who really don’t know what they are talking about, it’s very reassuring to hear this guy talk so confidently about a subject that he is obviously educated about.

    Perfect timing! I finally took the plunge and got myself a little girl just a few days ago! She's been an absolute dream so far, but I so appreciate the work you've put in with compiling all this data and making graphs! Even though I've been obsessively researching for months now, being able to visualize all these number ranges is really helpful somehow lol. Keep up with the excellent videos!

      Happy to help! Having a large water bowl on the warm side can help with humidity, also deeper substrate, a humid hide and more frequent spraying. Might need a misting system.

      @@ReptilesandResearch ya its easier in my smaller enclosures but the 4footer is tough. I have a large glass baking pan as a water dish, on just the cool side tho. The eco earth substrate i use is at least a few inches deep, took a lotta substrate to get to that point. I have moss and leaves mixed into it too but it keeps drying out. Im about to plug up all the vents in this thing.

    Excellent video. I agree entirely regarding enclosure size for young snakes. I recently acquired a very small hog island boa (boa imperator). He's only months old, and had his first feed two days after being introduced into a 4 x 2 x 3ft vivarium - he's making use of all his climbing space, which goes up to full height, and that after several days in transit. More is better!

    Thank you so much for this indepth guide! I have been finding a lot of other guides and information I've found on ball pythons to be insufficient or not truly have the snake's best interests in mind.
    I did have one question pertaining specifically to your opinion when it comes to Albino Ball Pythons. Seeing as they might have worse eyesight/sensitive eyes, would you still try to provide them with UVB? I have a lamp with heating and light, but I have been nervous about including UVB in their enclosure in fear it would make their sight worse. I have struggled to find a conclusive answer on what would be the best option. I'd appreciate any input you have!

    I’ve long suspected “hunger strikes” are the result of feeding too much too often. Common feeding practices have mostly centered around obtaining breeding size as fast as possible. Probably not ideal in the long run. Great info

    What about the tank placement ? Can i put it in my room ? Where i sleep , have loud music play games ? Will it be stressful for the snake? Will they make some sound in the night that will wake me up? Will the tank hold heat if i turn on mu AC ? Does the tank get stinky when they defecate?
    I'm not willing to sacrifice a whole room for a snake, i want them to be where i can admire them and not lock them in a room and visit them ?

Especially the feeding, I see so many new owners fretting because someone told them they need to have "X" sized prey size and it's too small or they have been told by some breeder to feed them the largest size possible, way too often and they'll post something like "my baby is on a hunger strike, should I force feed!?" and post a picture of an absolute unit, sausage snake. LOL

  • @ithewho6603
    @ithewho6603 Před 10 měsíci

    Does your baller hang on the lamp guards? I stress immensely because mine hangs on the lamp guards. He has had climbing opportunities since he was tiny string snakelet so he is strong. I was considering making holes to the roof of my new enclosure so I can put the lamps on top of it and he can't hang on to them. He uses branches too but he seems to like the lamp guard. And it's hot, the rock under it is +35°C so I don't think it's the warmth why he does it.

    • @ReptilesandResearch
      @ReptilesandResearch  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Mine does not thankfully, perhaps theres a reason it want to get up at that area?

    • @ithewho6603
      @ithewho6603 Před 10 měsíci

      @@ReptilesandResearch The only reason I can think of is the heat. He has sturdy branches that goes up to the ceiling on other parts of the enclosure and he uses those actively too. I feed him sometimes in ground and sometimes I drag the prey on the branches so he can "hunt" so I don't think it's food reasons either. Maybe he is just weird.
