    I used this to install my Maxxis Minion mountain bike tire on to a difficult to install Diamondback Blanchard wheel with asymmetric rim and it actually worked way better than using tire levers.

    Like most of you watching this video, I have a set of tyres that have gone through several sets of tyre levers and nearly broken my thumbs several times. I brought a pair of these levers and they did a good job but didn’t last. They worked for me twice and then the end broke off. The idea is pretty good although the design could be changed slightly to fit around larger MTB tyres and also made of metal. I was fitting 26x2.3” tyres and they only just fit. If the head had a larger curve it would be easer to fit around larger tyres and it would probably get more leverage. Also the foot that hooks into the rim could be slightly wider to get a little more purchase on the rim. It anyone has the tools to create a better model please let me know.

      Great points. Mine hasn’t broken but it has more flex now so it might give soon.

    Wow! I'm impressed. I couldn't get my Schwalbe Knobby Nicks on my Bontrager carbon rims. Had to bring it to the shop. Super frustrating. I'll have to get one of those tools. Thanks!

    Word of advice, always install the tyre by the valve last and make sure the the rest of the tyre fits in the groove of the wheel. I did this with some notoriously difficult Conti GP5000's and they went on by hand, even with my puny cycling arms😅

    You can make life a ton easier by putting the tool near the end of the section to get back on and moving it along in small increments, far far easier than trying from the middle of the section to get back on !.

    removal is much harder imo. can this tool do that too. you can often replace tyres just with your hands if you know how.

      Interesting. Not sure how to use it for removal. No joke, I used it yesterday to replace a tire (worked great for installing ) but used a tire lever for removal

      I don’t think it will help much. The tool is a bit narrow. Better suited for thin tires

      It might actually be easier to use on thinner road tires. An even better possibility would be the one I reviewed from Marque which is actually designed for thinner tires. czcams.com/video/t5s9DwT4EF4/video.html

    Why are you apologizing for wearing Crocs?
    Please tell me you don't apologize for being white too.

    • @TonyHob
      @TonyHob  Před 3 lety +5

      I'm not exactly white, well kind of, more like mixed (I'm Puerto Rican). But anyway, It's because I find it unprofessional for my video. Just like when some people make videos in their bare feet and you see them on the video. It just looks sloppy. I have absolutely no problem wearing Crocs in public and I always change into them after a ride. It was supposed to be funny. That's why the "LOL". I think you are reading too much into it. And I don't think anyone should be apologizing for being white or latino like me (PLEASE not Latinx) or any other reason. And if you think I worry about being politically correct, you are very far from the mark. I feel "political correctness" is completely and ridiculously out of control. I actually believe we think more alike than you think.

      @@TonyHob My kind of guy then.
      I feel the same way. Race doesn't matter unless it is used against someone.
      I live in Colorado within 30 minutes of where Crocs first hit the scene.
      Professional depends on where you do business. I grew up in Southern California, and in the eighties, we all wore shorts and thongs. Not the women's underwear thongs either. Lol

  • @Tony-jw6oy
    @Tony-jw6oy Před rokem

    I have one of these. Trust me they are shit on road tyres. That tyre of yours wasn’t even tight. Could have done that with my hands

    • @TonyHob
      @TonyHob  Před rokem

      Though I agree that they might not work well on road tires, I would challenge you to get the tires on the Blanchard asymmetric wheels by hand! Plenty of broken tire levers and sore fingers working on those.
      Best tool I found for road tires was about 20 years ago. It wa a plastic colapsaba bar. One end snapped on the axle and the other hooked to the rim. You would then just slide it around the rim and set the tire. Mine finally broke and I also stopped riding road a few years ago. I bought it from Nashbar and haven’t found one since then. I’ll post a link if I find it

    To mount this continental by hand is not hard but to use that thin sieve as ((tubeless)) is impossible. Gooddamn manufacturers

    • @TonyHob
      @TonyHob  Před 5 měsíci

      In this case it’s the asymmetric rim that makes it hard. I can easily install these tires on other rims.
