    You are so incredibly organized. I do love your idea of using grocery bags to keep items in one place. Very clever!

    I watched my parents hoard stuff. I'm the complete opposite - I only have stuff that I only need. Only two pairs of pants, three T-shirt, a jacket, and a button-up shirt.

    How clever to use reusable grocery bags for packing! When I travel, almost no matter the trip length, I pack at most 1 pair of pants. Two bottoms work for plenty of outfits. Similarly, undershirts dry quickly from a wash. So I'd pack at most 3 shirts, and a couple thermal undershirts if it's cold. One of the shirts I'll likely use as a sleep-shirt, too, and then I'll pack pajama pants or shorts. Like you, I bring an extra pair of socks and underwear -- although I think I need them once out of 20 trips.

      I was gone for almost two weeks with just 16 L. Washing by hand and putting things on the warm radiator makes it easy :D

    When I travel, I also bring 1 extra pair of underwear/socks! What about shirts, do you wash them during the trip or wear them for multiple days? When I go on a short trip, I also pack minimally. But I struggle when going on a long trip. I actually had to buy a new, bigger suitcase because I was going on a 3-month trip abroad (my gf lives abroad). Had to bring clothes for (late) summer, autumn, and winter. The minimalist in me struggled with this for a while, but I'm glad that I made the purchase. I was walking in shorts when I first arrived, whereas by now I'm wearing a thick jacket. I guess it's the intent that counts. To me, minimalism is about being more intentional about your purchases. And I put a lot of thought into it, before making the decision to buy the suitcase.

    • @simplybychristine
      @simplybychristine  Před 2 lety +1

      Absolutely! I usually repeat outfits then wash if needed during the trip. My last trip I didn't need to, but I could imagine if I was more active then I might have needed to. Luckily the place I was staying at had a washer dryer just in case!

    • @Merryyy203
      @Merryyy203 Před 9 měsíci

      Hello :)
      If the weather is warm tanktops can be used several times before they need a wash. If I wear t-shirts, depending on how much I've sweat I will just wash the armpit area and the next day they are dry and fresh, so I do not take more than 2 extra ones. I wear leggings + take an extra pair. Underwear I wash every day but depending on the length of the trip I might just take one for each day.
      If the suitcase is what works for you, then it is perfect :)

      @simplybychristine  Před 2 lety +1

      Just realized that my camera might've not caught the shot of the pj's going in! I usually sleep in some form of sleep shirt + shorts or pants. Roll them up, stick them in the same pack as my underwear. Hotel rooms or airbnb's tend to run warm or have thick blankets so I'm not as worried about being cold.

    • @simplybychristine
      @simplybychristine  Před 2 lety +1

      Lotion was packed in a small jar and I don't typically use deodorant actually, but if I do I usually have a small jar which I refill at my local zero waste shop!

  • @Woeschhuesli
    @Woeschhuesli Před 2 lety +1

    Apart from underwear, I take the mentioned camisole and a pair of leggings that can double as pyjamas if necessary, as well as being a warm underlayer. A T-shirt and two tunics (my go-to) that I can wear either with pants or the leggings (so long enough...!) and a cosy sweater or cardigan to travel in (under my jacket) so I am equipped for indoors or outdoors in all weathers. At this time of year I probably would only take/wear boots as footwear - and a pair of woollen handknit socks for comfort, nights and as slippers in a cold place (or foldable slippers, maybe). I know some people never travel without swimwear, just in case there is a spa/pool/beach wherever they're going! Then I'd include a microtowel, too. But you don't need much and can usually wash something if needed. I find minimal packing easy.

    4 day trip. That is not even an issue. Easy. Laptop phone and extra pair socks. Light travel 3 months a little more but not much. only need a extra shirt or 2 and extra 2 pairs socks underwear and undershirt. Also a jacket. Done. Personally i wouldnt pack extra shoes. I just wear what i wear and did this recently for 2 months in Europe and Korea. I buy hygiene items at location.

    My only helpful tip is that if you're flying have a separate 1 qt bag that has all the liquids and other items that TSA is going to want to see. You can put it back with the rest of the toiletries after security, but it makes it easier to check through.
    We've gotten pretty good at "carry on" packing for our trips, even if we ultimately check the bags as luggage under the plane.
    We prefer wheeled bags if we're flying, but usually go with a mix of wheeled bag for clothes and a backpack or two for carry-on entertainment & snacks. (4 bags for 3 people on an international trip isn't too bad).
