And this is why Amanda Waller is the worst villain in the entire DC universe. Not in the sense that she’s poorly written(she’s not) but because she’s just downright worse than all the other villains. She would let Darkseid Loose from a prison if it meant she could finally kill all superheroes. I mean, look at what she did in Beast World. She used an evil version of Dr Fate to take control of Beast Boy after he turned into a giant Starro, then used him to turn all humans and superheroes into animal humanoid monsters.
And what was her excuse “Everything I do is for the good of the United States of America”
She takes patriotism to a completely overkill level.
She's basically filling the role that General Lane was in the comics as they seem to want to give Lois a better relationship with her dad and give him nuance similar to Superman & Lois. She seems to represent all of those shady things the USA has done, you those things they we read when the state declassifies it's documents.

Agreed. This was originally supposed to air on some sort CN block. Which is why it is more tamer than most other AS shows.
What shows are you referring to ? This show is def good but a little blood doesn't hurt, especially if it's a superhero story. It doesn't make sense if super powered beings are beating each other and there's no blood or visible injuries. I'm not saying I need it or it's necessary, it just follows logic IMO
@@PsychicJaguar19 Kinda like X-Men '97, I didn't need Invincible levels of blood, but an occasional drop did make it seem like they were actually getting hurt. But, I'm okay with this show not having blood though, this version of Clark really doesn't want to hurt people

Yes, Chi-Chi can be overbearing, overprotective, and selfish at times, but she genuinely loves Gohan and has to watch her son frequently get put in life and death situations even when he was a kid, so you can't blame her for being the way she is. Waller is just a sociopath who only cares about her own twisted idea of being the hero.

I remember him from Justice League unlimited. It's nice to see him finally get the recognition he deserves.
He was in Superman versus elite the cartoon movie
He had the coolest design but I just wish he actually got to fight Superman
He Also Made A Brief Cameo As A Hologram in Superman & Lois.

I love when Amanda Waller is a main villian. Her character of dedication to protect by any means necessary is shown to be a baseline noble but overall flawed, but with her demeanor and methods make her one of the scariest characters in DC.
A character I literally go "Uh Oh." Everytime she appears in something.
I concur; sometimes she's written as either a cackling villain or DC's Nick Fury, but the best versions are the ones where it's clear she's genuinely trying to save the world, just through drastic measures. I really loved in JLU's "Doomsday Sanction" how she's left visibly shaken at General Eiling's casual disregard for human life when he authorizes a nuclear strike to destroy evacuees in an effort to kill Doomsday/Superman. She's a person that means well but is willing to do whatever she deems necessary to keep the world safe, and that's why she's so terrifying
No matter what she is always up to something at the very least shady if not down right illegal. I love it.
JLU explored her character well back in the day. That story managed to make her into an actual threat to the Justice League while presenting her point of view in a way that could make sense for her and the people she worked with but it was twisted enough that the audience knew she could not be allowed to succeed. She also had some moral red lines in that show, as she turned on Luthor because he had carried out an act of terrorism and had fooled everyone by making it seem like the Justice League had attacked Cadmus. She's an interesting character because she has no superpowers but she is fairly capable of taking on superpowered characters through sheer willpower, ruthlessness and strategy. She's also a massive hypocrite.
Whenever she appears in something I get very annoyed and remark 'Waller, medding again'
I love her Batman Beyond storyline a lot.

I think Zod is the Doomsday analogue given the shape his suit has, and the "All Shall Kneel!" is a dead giveaway that's Zod.
Typical behavior of Amanda Waller. She's willing to cross any line for her own twisted sense of serving her country. From turning civilians into metahumans to fight Superman to trying to kill her own friend Sam Lane, Amanda Waller is a dangerous woman who is consistent throughout the DC multiverse. Superman and Lois definitely have their work cut out for them during this upcoming season. Atomic Skull definitely seems to be trouble, but Superman will save the day.
This is even before those two has to deal with Kara.
It's cool to see Atomic Skull, Silver Banshee, and other villains being given story prominence.
But... I don't recall seeing any non-comic version of Amanda Waller be *this* thoroughly evil before. Even DCAU Amanda didn't completely go through with Project: Batman Beyond. Though there was the Royal Flush Gang.

@@SilverScribe85 yea, but her JLU counterpart is miles better in morality compared to her usual appearances in media. Her interactions with Batman highlight how reasonable she can be(her role in JLU is similar to Sam Lane). In the case of Luthor in JLU, she never fully trust him, but she underestimated how ambitious Luthor was when he had access to Cadmus technology.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he knows during this scene from either figuring it out himself or being revealed to him. We might see Lane and Clark finally being on good terms/allies in this season.

I guess Krypton Tech is the “Big Bang” or “Particle Accelerator Explosion” of this show. Not my favorite approach. I like Superman having a diverse grab-bag of villains with no common origin.

I miss when Amanda Waller wasn’t a straight up supervillain. Like yea in the OG Suicide Squad comic and to an extent the Justice League Cartoon she wasn’t a good person but she had a conscience and wasn’t one note with being obsessed with controlling everything. She was more moral grey, I REALLY don’t like that more writers nowadays try to make her this evil puppet master.
I do and always prefer JLU Waller but the version of her that is basically a reflection of the Americas not so noblest actions still holds a place in my heart.

Well take in consideration that Sam lane before the new 52 used to be more like that but mothern interpretations tend to make him more sympathethic including this One the writers needed a character that acted as a foil to him and waller was Just fit that role
I think that it's a matter of society changing. Back when John Ostrander was writing Suicide Squad, people were a lot more willing to accept the government doing bad (or at least morally questionable) things for the sake of national security. Nowadays... not so much, hence Waller becoming a full-on villain.
It’s like that with a lot of morally grey characters. Look what happened to Maxwell Lord. From morally questionable businessman who was trying to be better to evil mastermind.
The experimented civilians remind me of the corrupted gems from “Steven Universe.” Kinda fitting, since one of MAWS’s developers, Jake Wyatt, was one of the writers on SU.

@@Filbi That version of Amanda Waller got at least… some kind of redemption in Justice League Unlimited. But more and more versions of her are messing with things outside of (even) her control. She even had what came to her in the Arrowverse when she got shot in the head, point-blank.

He thought that he was the (in-universe) serial movie hero Atomic Skull and that Superman was his archenemy from the films, and it was easier (and safer) for Superman to play villain and throw the fight to get him to snap back to reality and surrender once he realized what was going on. No clue about any other Atomic Skulls.

This show is making like Atomic Skull. I never gave him thought before because he was always just a side villain that DC only used for small 1 minute appearances but now he’s being done right. I wish Waller and Deathstroke weren’t in the show. I wanted Sam to take Waller’s place as the pure evil government person because the only time I’ve seen Sam be actually evil is in Superman secret Origins
I'm so excited for season 2!! The first was fantastic and I can't wait to see where they take the series. Hopefully we get a third season & beyond!

We may have seen Parademons in this Season's Trailer, but I think Amanda Waller is going to be this series' Darkseid. Knowing that, the clash of Superman VS Waller will probably be even more destructive than we can imagine, especially since Waller has connections with EVERY military branch or laboratory in the US to attempt an assassination on Superman.

Atomic Skull has a really design.
Not sure if he exist in this show, but Batman was right to Watch over Amanda Waller.
He was hunted at existing when Vickie Vale appeared in episode 8. Most of the founding members of the original JLA were hinted at in universe. Not sure if we will ever see them, but it does seem this takes place in a universe where superheroes are in their infancy, and Supetgirl is likely among the first as an established hero according to the show writers.

I'm surprised not a lot of people are praising Atomic Skull's powers. I find the swirling beams and scorch marks to be a fantastic take on energy blasts, and the bubbling sound design really sells the radiation aspect!
In the comics, there are two Atomic Skulls, this is the second one, Joseph Martin.
