    • @harveysmith100
      @harveysmith100 Před 8 lety +3

      +Scotty MSU It didn't float, the front wheels were always in contact with the river bed due to a big iron weight at the front called a 1HZ. The back of the LC was up in the air due to a pocket of air trapped inside the vehicle. Land Cruisers have good door seals which helped, but if you notice the rear barn doors are above the water line so the cargo area remained full of air.

    • @BenHelweg
      @BenHelweg Před 8 lety +1

      +Harvey Smith How do all the electrics and things go after a crossing like this? I've always wondered.
      I guess the snorkel connection must have a damn good seal on it!
      Does water get in past the firewall and mess things up?

    • @harveysmith100
      @harveysmith100 Před 8 lety +2

      The electrics get wet! Sometimes you will see lights, indicators windscreen wipers all acting erratically by themselves. Hopefully the sensitive components are high up in the dash somewhere so they don't get effected. There may be an odd fuse blown on the normal components, but generally they will dry out and work again fine. Your right about the snorkel. This is far more serious if it goes wrong. If you suck water into the engine you can end up bending con rods. Which is a complete engine re-build.
