- We've recently become Brand Ambassadors for the German Company 'Webasto.'
We received a brand-new heating system: the Air Top 2000 STC.
With the help of Rodrigo, from Old School Garage in Amoeira, Portugal, we installed the Air Top 2000 STC under our VW Westfalia van, replacing the old Eberspacher heating system)
Looks like a good unit to have for Ireland...! They are not cheap but seem like the gold standard..be well and safe travels guys ..! Very much looking forward to that first Ireland vlog👍
We use it more than once....very nice, very very nice in the morning to start it and in 5 minutes to have a warm and cozy van!
Thank you for sharing the assembly of the Webasto, very useful video.
Alessio Zulli you’re welcome :)
And the install was right on time for the Ireland trip... 😉👍
Yup....just put it at 22 now...bit chilly tonight!
good job guys . by the way the bracelets are called jubilee clips
Good to know! :) Thanks
Sort comment on the Video: The intake filter is no filter, it is a silencer with water separator.
To determine the position of the combustion air intake, take in mind that it is in a pressure less surrounding. Avoid over pressure (to much combustion air, lean combustion). Avoid under pressure (to less combustion air, rich combustion). With an intake silencer you already avoid a direct over or under pressure.
Thanks a lot for your comment, now is more clear :)
Thanks for the video. I was thinking about doing a similar install in my van and I was wondering if there are any down sides to having the heater mounted on its side?
JPdog1235 nope, the original heater was under the van already, but bigger and heavier:)
Very good video - very useful. I bot a Webasto heater and I have questions. How do you know which fuses to put into the relay? - I have 3 fuses - 20A, 15A & 1A - but there are only 2 places to put fuses in the relay. Also, when you attach the power wire for the fuel pump - how do you know which wires get connected to each other? - the fuel pump wire that comes out of the heater unit has 2 black wires and the other wires that go into the fuel pump has 1 brown & 1 blue wire - so I don't know which wires get connected to each other. Thanks for you help.
Let me recheck things and I'll write you back
Thanks for the video very useful I put the filter in the wrong way to, But now I have a doubt with the diameter of the combustible pipe. The manual specify inside diameter of 2mm what happens if I put a bigger one? any one knwos if it crates some problems? KEEP IT UP WITH YOUR VIDEOS!!
German Diaz Saldaña can’t tell you. I used the old one from Eberspeker that was already installed. Anyway I received the new one with the Webasto and I assume it’s better to use that one
Thanks for the great video ! One question is it not a problem to have the webasto outside ? is it waterproof ?
not a problem at all, water proof and they do sell as well a sort of metal shield
Buon viaggio ....
Hi
Can i ask how the wire come through the chassis?
I know original coming through inlet pipe (90mm)
I am just installing eberspacher in the same way how you did
The wire get inside from the air intake behind the driving seat under the fuses
Thanks for your video, Do you think 2K is enough for T4 ?
yes, it's a small space and in 5 minutes will be warm :)
Hello, what have you done with the water tubes that were going to the old heat vent?
Water tubes?
@@Westfaliadigitalnomads yes, that are going to the old heater
we removed the engine heater in the back, we simply bypass the pipes
t is the last part used for? the big hose
The big one if for intake air from inside the vehicle
I ordered the Webasto Air Top 2000 STC 12v Petrol. I have a 2019 Dodge Promaster van, and I'm inquiring about detailed installation instructions either written or video version to assist with my installation. Where can I access this information?
bob tarlowski we did a video but it’s not full installation as we already had the ventilation system from the old heating. That’s why Webasto advice to install it at a Webasto dealer, also if you want the warranty on it
www.manualslib.com/brand/webasto/heater.html
Stay gold.
I guess you connected the heater to your main battery, how many hours will it take the heater to drain the battery completely?
never to the main battery, only to the 2 Gel leisure battery. Usually except starting the webasto itself, it goes into 1- 1,5 amph
I still have a cable with an external sensor that I don't know where it is mounted. I didn't see any temperature sensor installed, how do you know when to turn it off?
Colt Alb plimbari enduro si natura we first place the sensor just above the kitchen...but we realised not a good idea, as if we cook while the heating it’s on...so we move it just behind the driver seat on top. When inside you’ll have the desired temperature the webasto will stop automatically
@@Westfaliadigitalnomads where exactly is the plug inserted from the temperature sensor? that I can't find any socket to resemble the sensor socket
well, you decide where to put the sensor. We actually made a small hole in the plastic above in order to put the sensor and the cable pass from behind.
@@Westfaliadigitalnomads I can't find the socket where the sensor comes in. is it connected to the cables somewhere or directly in the device?
Colt Alb plimbari enduro si natura i wrote you on FB
You've missed to insulate the air circulation tubes. You are loosing one third of the heat right now to the outside. For even better result insulate the heater box as well.
thanks for the tip, any particular material I should use?
Three questions about the Webasto AirTop 2000 STC
Question one: the fuses (1amp for the controller and 15amp for the heater) - on the fuse harness/plug there is a sticker that says F1 and F2. Can you tell me which fuse goes into F1 and F2?
Question two is about the two wires that come from the heater to supply power to the fuel pump, and the separate/long fuel wire with blue and brown wires - Is there a positive and negative? How do the blue or brown wires connect to the two from the heater? Are they interchangeable?
Question Three: On the main wire for the unit, one plug says potentiometer and the other says telestart. One person said the potentiometer is for the Rheostat/dial and the telestart is for the digital multicontrol. Do you know if these plugs are interchangeable? Because the way the cable is wrapped, placement would be better to use the potentiometer wire for the digital multicontrol. Thank you
Wow, I’ll try to reply but I install the Webasto 3 years ago!
About the fuse I really don’t have memories about it. About the wires I put blue positive and brown negative. Last question: they should not be interchangable as one is for the old controller and another for the digital one
Hi, is there a type of person I can contact to install such heater system? The RV place doesn't offer such service. Thanks!
usually there are Webasto dealer worldwide
@@Westfaliadigitalnomads Thanks!!
I thought mounting these outside was a no no.
Ciao Armando, in Morkenstein é rimasto così?
@@VivereInCamperMacchitelofaffa grazie come sempre Armando
Any chance you know what error code H03 means?
here you can find all: www.jpcdirect.com/webasto-heater-fault-codes-a-guide/
@@Westfaliadigitalnomads i checked there and all the errors stated with 'F'
I suppose F03 will be the answer, so problems with voltage

Hello guys! Can i ask u a question? 2 kw it's enough for a vw multivan? thank you
2Kw of what? solar panel? inverter? generator?
@@Westfaliadigitalnomads i was meaning 2kw heating power for the webasto.
kuki kapros yes of course but it goes with 12v batteries
@@Westfaliadigitalnomads OK, thank you very much, for you answer! I will go for ''AIR TOP 2000''. They are told me to instal an ''AIR TOP EVO 40''. But i thought, 4kw it was a little bit too much. Thank you again!
I finck you hawe vibration when webasto is working, silution you must hang webasto on ruber ;)
our is on two steel support that were provided in the kit, and yes there is rubber on top to avoid vibrations
then it is ewery fing is olrite :)
This heater is complete shit. Ok I have it running from 24v batteries. Leisure batteries. It seems to be the reason the batteries never last. Need to do a drain test to verify. Anyway my post is not about that issue but others.
If you switch it on in a cold vehicle the heater starts up fast blowing out hot air and then it blows out cold air for several minutes. Freezing cold air. Then it changes and blows out warm air and middle hot but not like first start up. If there was a fault with this heater the clever digital system of flashing lights to indicate which fault should happen, only it doesn’t. Then to say its got a fault and you need to let someone look at it is ridiculous. The heater has been installed. Means undoing surround panelling, the fuel and exhaust and removing the heater. In my vehicle its much more complex as it also lives inside a steel box with 4 bolts half submerged into the floor.
This is not the first of webasto heaters I have had in motorhomes but it is most definitely the LAST. Im laying here on my bed in the motorhome right now. Guess what i can hear? Yep the fan or blower fan making a monotonous whirring noise. Slow whirring noise because its not like on start up blowing hot hot air which is exactly what I want here in the UK on xmas day. Yep it’s xmas day and I have to listen to whirr whirr whirr whirr just to have pathetic warmth. Need thick jumper on with this heater. My advise is dont buy one.
James Barratt sorry for your experience, it’s Xmas here to and we are at 2500mt with our Webasto running and giving a good 24 degrees inside the van, no issue so far
When it fails to start and then ten tries later it starts but you remembered the amount of flashes the lights did and contact Sebastopol they say flame sensing unit fault. Only hang on it started again. Then no trouble for a month and suddenly the same thing. No start flashes same amount, and nothing. You get annoyed then it starts and all good. Heat rubbish from 2000st as well. Need bigger and then it uses much more power. Nope I have tried a few air-tops and nothing but trouble. I’m writing this listening to that damn whirring fan out of balance or bearing failure noise. All because I ran out of gas last night Xmas on my gas heater. Webasto and me will never do business again.
little jamie, how can you call a heater shit and 10 seconds later say you have not tested the batteries? are you just mad?
