- Wedding in Progress, Episode 3:
This is Episode 3 of my wedding series, Wedding in Progress. I had my civil/court wedding and my Cameroonian traditional wedding on the same day and this video takes you through everything we did on that day to ensure that my husband and I are married both in the eyes of the government and in the eyes of our culture.
Please enjoy and I'll see you in the comments!
xx Mutombo.

#weddingvlog #vlogs #traditionalwedding life in africa, life in cameroon,
It's interesting to see how civil weddings work in Cameroon. I love how the ceremony was opened with a word of prayer! Is the asking of the questions mandatory? If the officiant is not entirely satisfied with your responses can he stop the wedding from happening?
Thank you Thuli ❤️❤️. Thanks for the questions as well. I love addressing these! 😃
The asking of questions is definitely not mandatory. This officiant did this at her discretion but if the answers show that any of the parties does not fully understand the specifics of the marriage they are getting into, the officiant has the power to hold off on marrying them. For example, you can choose to marry but keep your property separate or to marry and own your property jointly. This is something that must be specified in the marriage certificate and signed off on by both parties. If the officiant asks you questions about this and your response shows you have no clue what joint vs separate property means, the officiant has the right to postpone your wedding until you fully understand the the parameters of what you are getting into in the name of marriage. Once you apply for a civil wedding, they make you wait 30 days before you can be married, to ensure that you take time to understand these things, and they publish your request for marriage so that if anyone has feedback to report on you, they might. This is just to avoid people entering situations like multiple concurrent marriages and such. They usually explain all these details and the legalities of everything at the office way before the wedding date but some people still show up clueless and their ignorance may not be their fault. There may be a literacy barrier or any other reason for that. Some officiants may not take their time to do this due diligence by asking questions but generally officiant will only go ahead to marry a couple if they have satisfied the requirements that the government has put forth in writing e.g the issue of having 2 witnesses who are family… There was a couple who showed up on the same day as us to get married and neither party had a single family member present. Not even a distant relative. The officiant refused to marry them and had to defer their case to look further into their situation before deciding whether or not to marry them. So they didn’t get married that day.
@@mutomboinprogresswow, I have learned something today. Thanks for enlightening us, esp me as a Cameroonian who didn't really know
I’m sorry for the delay with this video guyssss! 🥺 There were… some serious complications which we can discuss further after the series.
Don’t worry, it won’t be such a long wait for the next episode as I have already edited it.
Anyway, enjoy xx. Missed ya! ❤
Apologies accepted 🤗

Awww thanks Aïcha ❤. I will not 🙏🏽❤️
Yeyyyy notifications gang .. I’ve been waiting for this .. hope you’re doing well.. I kept checking your channel for your next upload
You're the best! Thanks for being patient xx
Hihihi I soo resonate when u say the introvert in u was getting tired already.i panic when I think I have to get married someday bcuz my social battery can just die in the middle of my own wedding n I’ll probably leave my guest to go sleep 😂😂 or someone might just have to represent me on that day and it will be like“the bride in absentia”
😂😂😂😂 yes, you definitely have to take breaks from the gathering. I sure did. My family made sure I had about 3 hours to myself in my room after the civil wedding activities. So while they were doing the brideprice payment with my mother’s family, I was just sitting in my room and my sister helped me take the footage you see in this video. I only showed up to the traditional wedding when I was needed. That really helped boost me and allowed me to show up for the second part refreshed, with a smile on my face.
😂😂
I Love love this series 😍👏

Thanks a million 💕
Girl we were waiting 😫❤️❤️
Glad it’s here 💃🏽 💃🏽
So glad your family was there to witness all this 😊
It’s interesting that you both served yourselves at the traditional wedding 😂😂 that would never happen at a typical Nigerian wedding, the couple is usually catered to specially.
Thank you girl! It really is a blessing that my family was able to share this with me. I've actually seen the couple being served even at weddings here and I think it's really nice coz you need to really be catered to at your wedding but I'm personally not one for protocol like that. How will the person serving me know what I want to eat? I'm too indecisive 🤣🤣
Is always a pleasure watching ur videos

Merci beaucoup! (on behalf of my husband and I... haha) ❤❤
U were soo elegant
Thank you Z❤
Wow your husband wore a Sanja like Duala men and called it the same!
we have the same men’s attire 😀
Yes yes, I’ve learned that Sawa culture and South West culture are very similar, especially in the attires. 😘
You both look so good together😘😘😘B/W🫣🫣
Awww thank you Anede ❤🥰
I'm actually surprised at the civil wedding requirements. I and all my siblings are married and we all had one witness each and it wasn't even a family member. I guess maybe that requirement is specific to some councils
You have a point, I think it may vary from council to council or maybe from region to region. I originally only prepared one witness because at the civil wedding I attended a couple of years prior the couples had one witness each. However, the morning of my wedding, they asked for my 2 witnesses and I had to ask my brother there and then to come with me to be my other witness. Same thing for my husband. He quickly had to call someone to add to the list.
Wena Perose u not right video soo short 😢😢
Awww this is one of those ones where I had to get footage from other people and even the photographer coz I lost what I took on my vlogging camera when my hard drive fell, especially the behind the scenes. Hope this was still enjoyable ❤😘
Oh you people don't cover the bride n sisters during traditional?
Ahhh we planned to do that and even practised with my sisters but left it out due to time constraints. To be honest with u, that day I actually forgot that part till today that u have reminded me 😂😂😂😂 You know in Bamenda, these activities need to be over by 6, 7 pm so pple can go home safely.
these northwest jujus have scarred me for life. I have childhood traumas, i can't stand by them,no mi ooo😱😱
CZcams was so dry without your videos😭Thank you for the video.
😂😂😂 no, for real CZcams has been getting boring for everyone. Glad to be back 😘😘
