My 3 year old has a 2.5g shrimp tank in her room. She loves this video. Since watching this, she's been telling me every day : "Papa, I wanna watch Lily."
My daughter has a blue betta called Bluey in a little tank with lots of pearlweed. She loves him, talks to him when coming home from school. I also use active substrate capped with sand and no filter. I like using the substrate as a filter.
Awe so good! My daughter also love that show! That’s so cool you have gotten to build that love for little creatures with her. And yes, it works amazing with fast growing plants. Creates such a nice little ecosystem!
I just moved from maui to big island and the longest time ive been so scared to use the lava rocks here as i feel like im being disrespectful but seeing you be cool with it i might finally do it😅
Ahh welcome to the Island! Yes completely understandable! I actually just got my rocks from what looked like a rubble pile from after they built a road or something like that.
@@bobseehafer5414 Awe that’s amazing! So cool you got to know this beautiful island! That’s where we are now and I think it’s one of the best islands haha. But thank you very much for your kind words!🙌🏾
LOVE THE VIDEO! it reminded me of how my dad and i used to build fishtanks when i was a kid. my dad is no more... but all the memories are there in me... subscribed
Ur teaching your kids well, most just give there kid some rainbow gravel call it a day. I like aquariums like yours that’s like how mine are, but yours are more organized
She’s absolutely precious 🥰 my 5 year old son just helped me set up a 60 gallon for his new plakat betta (betta number 8 and tank 12 for us 😅) I love seeing little ones getting into the love of the hobby. Ok… so wait… you didn’t put a filter?
Thank you so much! That’s amazing! That’s the way to do it, lots of tanks and lots of fish. Haha that’s the goal! And that is correct, I put no filter in. Bettas have a labyrinth organ meaning they can breathe air, plus I used floating plants that should convert CO2 and nitrates to good stuff for the tank! So it’s been a couple months and he’s thriving!
@@themortimerclan2187 Thank you very much for the support! And yeah you can do some amazing stuff with little tanks. 2.5 might be a bit small long term but you can definitely make it work! Shrimp also do great in small set ups!
For a tank that small I would recommend a mixture of slow growers so the tank isn’t overwhelmed super quick, so Anubias, cryptocoryne, and bucephalandra would work great. Maybe even some Java fern, just be sure to get ones that don’t get too large. And then you can maybe put some stems at the back for diversity. Then I would use some good floating plants to help balance water parameters quickly. duckweed can be a pain after a while but is great at its job, Salvinia minima and red root floaters are pretty good too. Some ramshorn snails and shrimp would be a good addition a well to help balance everything out.
@@stinkytinkie yeah, you definitely get more of a natural behavior! And I hopefully am going to put out a video about my bigger more ecosystem tank with a bunch of bettas eventually. So be on the lookout for that! But thank you very much!
I agree, however we’re moving overseas soon and my daughter really wanted a tank and that’s all I had at hand, plus I figure it’s better than a cup, It’s only short term :)
@@linds6609 yes I know, it’s crazy for us too because I thought I was going to be here a lot longer! But we feel the Lord calling us elsewhere in this time so we’re taking a step of faith!

This has to be the cutest video I have seen in a while. Loved watching you and your daughter building an aquarium together.
Thank you so much! Yeah I loved it. She’s so precious and funny😂❤️
The way she looked at the crypts when you pulled the whole plant out 😂❤
