  • There has been an update that gives chocolate and sugar, so cake become the obvious first priority and then time to build my second attempt with the new rockets. Hopefully, it goes better than my first attempt.

    You can help protect your base and make you rockets look badass when launching by using the miner rig to dig out 4 holes in a square pattern and build the rocket in a silo! Top it off with a few of the big gates to make a silo door and an elevator to the bottom, using reinforced glass around the elevator shaft to keep it flame resistant.

    So from my testing, using the pressure fed engine you need pressure. What I did on my world was use a turbo volume pump and read the pressure on the engine data and adjust it so it would auto adjust and stay at 50Mpa. It was kind of dangerous, but it worked well.

  • @WolfPlaysGames2
    @WolfPlaysGames2 Před 2 měsíci +2

    I think the only way to pressure feed the liquids is to control the temperature. A O2/Vol liquid mix is stable between -191C and -112C. Within those limits, you can warm the liquid to maintain any pressure you want. As the liquid is pumped out, more O2 will boil and maintain the desired pressure. Your fuel ratios won't be stable, but it avoids having a separate pressurant tank.

      @cowsareevil7514  Před 2 měsíci

      The description does mention heat exchangers in the engine nozzle so I imagine it will be a case of using them to maintain the fuel temperature to feed then engine. Perhaps with header tanks.

  • @NavyOldsaltGamer
    @NavyOldsaltGamer Před 2 měsíci +5

    If you are to low on fuel the rocket wont land. I had to pressurize the tank to 39 meg pascals. Also you will need two batteries when you mine. Mining uses about one battery just to fill the 50 unit storage. If i were you I would go with the pressurized gas engine. loaded with ore you will need the extra thrust it gives you.

    • @cowsareevil7514
      @cowsareevil7514  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I was thinking header tanks and turbo pumps for the pressure fed engine then you can run the main tanks dry without losing thrust. But I havent tried it yet so it might not work.

    As soon as the fuel hit 2 kmol Vol / 1 kmol O2 left in the tank, the descent stopped and it began climbing back to orbit. So perhaps not enough fuel to land.

    • @cowsareevil7514
      @cowsareevil7514  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I have had a few goes. The auto land will take about 10 min to land so it might have been refusing to come back but If I turn off the auto land until the last 1-2 km then it will land with very little fuel. I think autoland is not working or I am not using it right.

    • @sultangris
      @sultangris Před 2 měsíci +3

      @@cowsareevil7514 the autoland is very inefficient, its better to manually land it or write a script to do it, also ive managed to pack in more fuel by using inline tanks rather than the dedicated rocket fuel tanks

    The stuff trader selection sells non-perishable consumable things like canned food, cereal bars, flares and pills. There's more but that's the things I can remember seeing.
    Can you connect the power umbilical inside the rocket directly to the battery without a cable in between? Like a lot of the piping systems now don't require a pipe between certain things now, like passive vents.

    • @cowsareevil7514
      @cowsareevil7514  Před 2 měsíci

      Passive vents are classed as pipes that is why they work. So the cables are required. It makes for a clumsy tetris when you only have a 3x3 space to play with.

  • @JonathanHarvell
    @JonathanHarvell Před 2 měsíci

    Would running a turbo volume pump to make a mix regardless of temp, etc. be viable to mix the fuel on the fly? Or would just all premixed be better?

  • @DevinBidwell
    @DevinBidwell Před 2 měsíci

    I have a feeling that putting the throttle at 100% when landing is what is causing you to pop back into orbit. Maybe next time try to feather the throttle as it's coming down? (something that can be automated with a PID I bet)

    You can move tower one frame away from rocket it will connect anyway (to not burn cables and pipes) also more batteries and more pressure btw why you don't use mixer, valves and pumps inside of rocket ;)

    I think showers need a data port really.. put out a ton of metrics about your hygiene, and water consumption, you know.. so you can point fingers who used up almost all the hot water in the morning... also it would be fantastic if you could remote control them with an occupancy sensor and / or things like that. rockets .. pffft

    I think because you tried to land the rocket when the scanner was out it aborted the landing sequence. I believe you can fix the aborted sequence by clearing the aborted destination and selecting it again.
