Brecker Brothers Acoustic Band - Freefall Summer, 2001 Lugano Switzerland Randy Brecker: Trumpet Michael Brecker: Tenor David Kikoski: Piano Peter Washington: Bass Carl Allen: Drums
Michael's love for Jazz - Organic Real Jazz - has always manifested itself through the sincerity and honesty of his superb performances. This Band is kicking.
Just great. I had the sheer thrill of seeing michael brecker 3 times and those memories are emblazoned on my feeble brain forever. Bringing beauty to this world.
First of all, thank you, CZcams, for keeping a memory of Michael's amazing playing. Now, on another line, every time that someone asks me what is the bass place in a jazz band I show him/her a video like this. Michael, Randy and David know very well that the pauses (spaces) they create in their solos would be filled by the relentless playing of Peter Washington's -- who is a master taylor. This band, including Carl and his fancy drums (on one of his best appearances) is something else. Thanks for all their music; and thank you, Louis, for posting.
David Kikoski comping is a luxury! Listen to his chords and his chord placement, and rests. Stimulus, chalenge and ground -- all this and more he does! Effing!
Much love.......serious high level....first solo I ever learned Brecker off Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight...miss ya...Randy has such wonderful time....beautiful..
Delicious edition of the Brecker brother’s band! Much thanks to Carl Allen and Peter Washington. Very apparent how important these backing instruments are. They really take care of the whole picture.
The Brecker Brothers, are so inspirational. Their class of Jazz, will live on forever. I really do believe that. One is just as amazing as the other. The pianist is simply world class. Always great composition, from the heart improvisation. Man, I miss Michael Brecker. Thank God Randy is still with us.
@@UkuleleAversion I mean Brecker and Trane were two different styles of players. Trane was searching for spiritual enlightenment while Michael was really looking to better himself.
Beautiful. Many thanks as always to my friend Louis, for sharing all the great music. LOVE this acoustic tour. David Kikoski played wonderful (as always) on this tour.
I am always intrigued by how these guys choose their sidemen. One is as great as the next! I am not familiar with Carl Allen in the Brecker's work, and he is swinging his ass off. Makes you wonder why they didnt use him on other stuff. It may simply be circumstances. Maybe Allen was busy with other people?
I feel real sympathy for that sax player you had conversation with :) And I have the same feelings to you, saying that Pat is soulless :) So ridiculous :) But it's ok,that's your feelings :))))
Apologies in advance to all the Coltrane loyalists, but Michael Brecker is the single greatest tenor sax improvisor to have ever walked the planet. Period. End of story. #QED :-O
R.I.P. Michael Brecker! We miss you! 🙂😢
I swear Randy just keeps getting better with age
And fatter 😁
You’re dumb Es Pr
He had to. People were stealing his licks, so he had to constantly evolve.
RIP Michael one of the greats!
Michael, we miss you so much.

This Band is kicking.
RIP Maestro Michael Brecker. Your name will live forever.
In my opinion, he is the GOAT.
You can hear all the great trumpet players in Randy's playing: Miles Davis, Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard and more.
Just great. I had the sheer thrill of seeing michael brecker 3 times and those memories are emblazoned on my feeble brain forever. Bringing beauty to this world.
All musicians are out of this world. Mike Brrecker is God.
That piano solo is out of this world!!

How great? I can forgive the geezer with the backward turned cap. Exceptional.
I’m sure Randy Brecker is relieved that you forgive him.
