- Why ride a rollercoaster sitting down when you can ride this one standing up! Watch as we visit Drayton Manor to ride the UK's and one of the worlds only stand up rollercoasters, Shockwave! Alongside that coaster we ride their drop tower Apocalypse, and the new rides in their Vikings themed area, such as Loki and Thor!
On ride filming is strictly prohibited at Drayton Manor. We were invited to work in partnership with team Drayton to safely film on their rides, using our professional and secure camera equipment.

Back in the day, and I’m talking mid 90’s, they used to let you ride shockwave whilst standing backwards in the restraint. It was flippin’ mental! I doubt they’d allow it these days tho.

Me and my group of mates decided that our first actual roller coaster should be a standing up inverted one, We all loved it although the sensation of being stood up and 0g was mad.

Shockwave gets so much stick, but honestly think it’s one of the best UK coasters! I think Alton could do a great Standup if it was done right!
I find it quite rough. It's a real headbanger so I see why it gets hate, but it is still an amazing experience. I think people are more dedicated to getting an RMC in the UK, but if a standup was at Alton Towers, it would get a ton of support!

I went to Drayton Manor on a school trip but only went on 3 rides. They were the 3 best ones though and I went on one of them twice. I went on Maelstrom first. Then I went on Apocolypse. Then I went on Shockwave. Then I went on Maelstrom again. I didn't scream on any of them. Then again, I closed my eyes on Apocolypse and Maelstrom second time. How I avoided the headbanging on Shockwave is just by keeping my head as parallel and as far back to the stand up chairs as possible. I also on the second row in Shockwave so I didn't get the air against my body.

I went to Drayton Manor and apocalypse really takes ur breath away, I phisicslly couldn't scream idk how u did. Sockwave was jus like an avarage roller-coaster but I recommend them both 100%!
But I would recommend accelorator it was alit of fun, aspecially when you go at the front or back!

I visited Drayton manor on Friday. Rides are good but since I was at Alton towers the day before for the first time ever! It takes a little bit of the edge away.
