    Amsah has admitted that he did not create or popularize this technique, he actually learned it from Overtriforce. Thats why people in europe call it "the over-tech", and i think we should too.

  • @Peikotus91
    @Peikotus91 Před 8 lety +58

    You're supposed to do maximal horizontal trajectory DI (Combo DI), which in most cases is down and away with the control stick, NOT down and in. You'll then roll toward the edge but that doesn't matter since you stop at the edge in any case. This is very important against moves that send up and away (most moves). For example, Fox can amsah tech Samus fsmash at 134% with proper TDI (down and away). If he holds down and in instead, he can't tech even at 70%, and the attempt will make his survivability much worse than just with normal survival DI.
    Also SDI is irrelevant if you were hit from the ground, except at some special cases where there's a lot of hitlag involved, and you need to SDI toward specific angle which makes amsah teching unfeasible in those cases anyway. (rest, knee for example).

    • @angelodistefano6068
      @angelodistefano6068 Před 8 lety

      yeah that's what i was thinking. even if you do down and in di AND asdi down, it's still probably worse than down and away di and asdi down. I don't even think most people even do the asdi down, lol

  • @alexjohnson5273
    @alexjohnson5273 Před 4 lety +17

    it's pretty wack that in the Uncle Punch training pack it has this video as the tutorial for amsah teching, and in this video Kira says, 'Axe holds directly in with the control stick and down on the c-stick'. which is incorrect and the only move you have to amsah-tech is Marth's up-B which I've only been able to tech by holding down on the c-stick and down + away on the control stick. so the tutorial is useless in the context of the Uncle Punch event because you can't tech Marth's up-B by either method mentioned in the tutorial.

  • @joeschmoe4376
    @joeschmoe4376 Před 8 lety +1

    Do you know how Amsah teching actually works? You use the C stick to ASDI down. The way you DI with the grey stick changes both how long you can AT the move and how fast you slide away while teching. By DIing so that your trajectory is closer to the ground, you'll be able to AT for longer but be sent flying farther away. Conversely, DIing so that your trajectory is higher makes you slide less far away, but doesn't work for as long.

    • @joeschmoe4376
      @joeschmoe4376 Před 8 lety

      It depends on the angle of the move, down and away isn't always the optimal way to AT a move. Check ikneedata.com/calculator if you want to get a better grasp of how DI affects this

    "This story will be shortly explained. Amsah: The one that showed it to Americans a lot (2010) Over: The one that did it the best and most consistently Me: I started to use it in 2006, but Over and the Spanish community did never travel to European events until Epita 2 in feb 2008.
    So I can't possibly know if me or Over did it first."
    It's either the Over tech or the Armada tech. Considering Over was before Amsah, and the most consistent, I don't see why it should be called anything else than the "Over tech"

    By DIing down and away (and therefore using the roll away)... Sheik can amsah tech Marth's tippered forward smash to like 109%!
    So by doing it down and away, you can amsah tech things longer.....

    i kinda which they would mention friction/traction ( not sure which one melee uses or if it uses both wich one factors more) since chatacters with less traction have a harder time garbing the ledge after the tech. i use luigi and too often do i tech the hit, roll to the edge and then fly off the stage with crazy speed because luigi has little traction.

  • @ferrishthefish
    @ferrishthefish Před 8 lety

    This ... doesn't seem quite right. The Amsah tech is possible because you have ASDI'd and regular DI'd as close to the ground as possible. That's why you hold C-stick down to ASDI down as close to the ground as possible, and that's why you *should* hold the Control Stick at a 90 degree angle to the attack's ordinary trajectory to regular DI as close to the ground as possible. We already know that regular DI is most effective when at a 90 degree angle to the trajectory of the attack, you literally cannot argue that Down+In is going to be more beneficial (unless it happens to be at that 90 degree angle).
    Using the ASDI down + regular DI at a 90 degree angle, it *IS* possible to Amsah tech a move that sends you straight up, such as Fox's usmash. I can consistently Amsah-tech Fox's usmash as Puff using C-stick down and Control Stick hard away (most commonly after missed Rest) as long as I am low%.
    Also, the direction you techroll in is unimportant, it's the duration of the techroll that affects the momentum you have when the techroll is over, because momentum decays as a function of time.

    • @Tezlastorme
      @Tezlastorme Před 8 lety

      I can say for sure that you're right about fox's usmash. If unstaled and uncharged puff can only tech it to 37% though, and at percents that low fox players would go for a different rest punish. Or they would add damage with lasers first. A fully charged fsmash can only be teched by puff at 16% or lower, and let's be real, no decent fox main is going to go for such a bad punish anyway. They're more likely to go for lasers > upthrow > bair. So it's not a for useful amsah tech. But it does exist. Might be more useful with other characters, but from what I've looked at, it's only techable when you're at a percentage at which the other player is very unlikely to use it because it won't kill. I would imagine this is the case for most moves that hit at a similar trajectory and can be Amsah teched.
      Amsah tech is much more useful against moves that hit more horizontally, as shown in the video.
      E.g. Marth can Amsah tech Marth's tipper fsmash up to 104% with ASDI down and regular DI down and away (206%) if CC'ing
      Marth's Shield Breaker cannot be Amsah teched at anywhere near such a high percentage, so Marths tend to favour that for a rest punish (also it has higher knockback when charged anyway)
      Physics is fun :)

    why is the c stick necessary?

    • @Peikotus91
      @Peikotus91 Před 8 lety

      To get ASDI down and trajectory DI down and away at the same time. ASDI and trajectory di are read on the exact same frame, so you have to use both sticks to get different inputs for them.

    • @joeschmoe4376
      @joeschmoe4376 Před 8 lety +1

      So, you know if you hold away from a multi hit move like Fox's drill or rapid jabs you'll slowly move away from them? The reason you can do that is because of something called Automatic Smash DI. It actually happens every time you get hit, but you might not have noticed it if you haven't looked closely. Anyways, usually ASDI is controlled by your grey stick, so you'll normally always ASDI in the same direction you'll trajectory DI in. The c stick actually overrides the grey stick's input for ASDI, which makes it possible to ASDI in one direction and trajectory DI in another.
      We use the c stick to ASDI down so we can Amsah tech for longer, in a nutshell.

      +SSG SAX GAMER its the same technique. There been a lot of debate in europe if it should be called Over or Amsah Tech.
      In the Netherlands JP was the first to find out about this in 2006.
      Overtriforce popularised it in Europe in 2008/2009.
      Amsah made it world wild known in his set vs Zhu in 2010 at Pound4.

    You are demonstrating the tech wrong in my opinion, it doesn't work if you angle towards the middle of the stage, you have to angle the stick directely away to the ledge to get the amsah tech, also see this video and try it by yourself if you don't believe it
