Mr Thing is one of a kind. Stays busy jamming and juggling. Loved every moment. The mixing, scratch, the funk and soul. God Bless this man. If anyone has any recommendations of other deejays with same style and music set please pass on the info. Much appreciated in advance.
Dammit mans!!!! Soul is Pouring out my headphones!! Notice he's actually changing records, adjusting speeds, tones and there isn't a lap top to be seen. Classic!!
I’m just curious. I started DJing back in 1997. I learned on 2 turntables and a mixer and I used all vinyl records. I stopped playing altogether at the end of 2009. So I was around for the beginnings of the digital revolution. The CDJ came out everyone who used one caught a bunch of flack. Then a couple of years went by and those were deemed as “accepted” in the DJ community. And I know I’m speaking blasphemy here, but then serato came out. I was still playing when that made a splash. I’ve never owned my own DVS system but I’ve played on one more times than I can count. And while playing on such systems, I was still playing the same awesome tracks (minus the sound quality of vinyl), I was still beat matching by ear, scratching and juggling. I was even playing one song after the next as seen here. Lol.... so besides the addition of their being a “sync” button or quantize button being available, what’s the deal w all of the hate w today’s DJ’s? I’m sorry if this is an ignorant question but I’m really trying to wrap my around this. I see it posted everywhere, literally.
There's always something different to be had, just to break the monotony, and this is it...I actually am listening to this at 3-4 am,and i thought it was not going to keep my attention, yet I fast fowarded a couple of songs and it started rocking...Makes me want to start digging again..Yeah,like I have room for more records..
man Mr. thing took me back to how learn to dj and still use my ttb this are my babies. pure flawless set. spendid job Mr. Thing thank you for re-inspired and awaken my love for djing.
I never really understand this place dope djs ill crates. But the people in the room are like on there phones and shit never really see anyone really feeling the music and having mad vibes more vibes going on I'm my bedroom then this place.... big up Mr thing got mad props as a dj and a crate digger.. Peace
+David Jewell I getcha mate...I remember a few years back MrThing was wearing one of those tshirts that stated "This is not a spectators sport".... Now I can appreciate the real 'heads' just quietly bugging out to this in a corner of the room.... Or banging there heads!! But some 'hangers' on will be there to look cool when they dont really have a clue... Now thats okay as long as they 1- dont talk shit thru the set loudly .. 2- Turn there phones onto silent... 3- By that Dj a well deserved pint of london pride.... BUT you can genuiely see the crowd digging this and dancing ... MrThing doing his good thing as usual.... One of longest serving djs in UK HIPHOP history... Humble turntablist too! Peace ;)
Totally agree with you bro. I just think it's because there's not enough alcohol flowing. Dj Thing is bad and he truly deserves more for this dope set! At least we appreciate it! Peace!
+David Jewell Boiler room isn't a place that's why. They just organise events at different places. To get tickets you just RSVP when they put something up on social media etc. You don't even know who you're going to see half the time... So you get the wrong crowd for the wrong DJ and all the problems associated with that.
THANKS AND MUCH LOVE TO YOU THING JUST FOR BEING YOU, TRULY AN INSPIRATION.....MUCH LOVE TO ANY AND ALL DJ'S WORLD WIDE DOING IT AS LONG AS YOU RESPECT THE ART!!!!!!!!!
I dj with MP3s, but seeing djs play the vinyls makes me give them even more props and respect.. I wished I learned vinyls prior to what I spin with now.
I can't believe Mr Thing dropping dope tunes and people just stand and talking. Ridiculous . People should be jamming. Makes me wonder those people are really down with good real music.
+Bunny Bread I feel the same way! So Funky! Got Ants In My Pants and this really makes you want to DANCE! Probably just suckers at the spot. Soul Funky. 1
Thats even worse, They are about the music ain't they. I've be djaying for years and when I got out I wanna dance, Im that dj that will tell another djay he /she dropped a banging set and i'll ask the name of a tune if I don't know it.
that crowd doesn't even deserve to be there! Show the man some love. Even if you not feeling the tunes, you can see the man knows how to hand the turntables!!!
Part of being a vinyl dj is finding ur records.. they not gonna give em to u this ez lol.. find ur own.. be unique.. let the vinyl tell ur story of cratediggin
One of the best DJ set's on boiler room by far. Tune after tune! One of the UK's finest and worlds best! FACT!
