Daze with Jordan the Lion Season seven episode two
LOVED THIS BLOG.....I AM THE OLD GUY (81) WHO USED TO LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD BACK IN THE SIXTIES AND SEVENTIES...YOUR EXPERIENCE IN EXTRA WORK (WE WERE CALLED (WAIVERS) BACK THEN, REMINDED ME OF MY EXTRA WORK...VERY SIMILAR TO YOUR STORY...BUT MY WORK WAS IN FILMS..... BUT SEE THINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED MUCH IN FIFTY YEARS...
Shoot me your digits, I'll pop over and fix your keyboard.
I'm a Motion Picture Grip, Local 80. I always feel empathy for the background extras. They go through hell for so little money. And you're right, food it everything to them, because work and money is so spotty in that field. When there is food, they're always hoarding so they'll have something to eat at home, hopefully for more than a day or two. Crazy life.
Cheers Jordan. I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for your efforts.
An EXCELLENT story full of details of the behind the scenes of extra work. Jordan, you have an exceptional appeal as a regular guy with a view of Hollywood fans can relate to. Thanks for the variety of vlogs!
Jordan, I loved this story time! Watching a taping of BBT was what brought me to Burbank the first time. I learned to appreciate everyone that contributes to an episode. Kunal Nayyan (Raj) was the only actor that stuck around to sign my program. He was a lovely person too!
Great story loved hearing it. My cousin grew up in Hawaii during the 70s and they were shooting a Hawaii Five-O and they grabbed a bunch of kids off the beach including him for a scene and he even spoke on camera and we were watching it at home and we saw him I remember how fun it was to see someone you know on a TV show.
Miraculously, I got my SAG card in Myrtle Beach SC after I left Hollywood!! A casting company from Wilmington came down and did the casting a the ballet school where I was teaching. Surprise! I did 5 IRS Tax Protestor films. I didn't know they were union until I got my eligibility letter from SAG! It was amazing. One, I was a mother begging for help for my children, another a business woman trying to dodge paying my taxes. It was an amazing experience. I got work in a lot of projects that were filmed in that area; "Shag", "Florida Straits," "Too Young the Hero" to name a few.
I joined the Director’s Guild around 1974 and it only costs me $750 to join as a stage manager. Years later I became a director and that costs $5000. When I first joined the production company had to guaranteed me twenty two weeks work. That’s a lot to ask for. It did give me a good retirement. I was working on a pilot years ago and Michael J Fox signed on as an extra. Virtually nobody on the set was satisfied to do their present job.
I did extra work about 6 times when Homicide Life on the Streets was on air. I remember someone who became a friend having several changes of clothes with them. Because I was in a police uniform, wardrobe had fitted us. Went to another trailer for the badge, name plate. Then onto props for the duty belt & finally the blank firearm, had to sign my life away and multiple copies of my driver's license. One of the best things was the food, & we even ate with the cast. Had to be on the shoot about 9-10am through 8-9pm, more sitting than anything. The 5 other times I was called back with having that presence & demeanor. I would do it all over again, I had fun. It was really interesting in what it took to do a show.
You are a great storyteller, Jordan and this was a fascinating story. I enjoyed hearing what it’s like for a day actor on TV and everything you experienced. I hope you’ll continue to share more stories with us!
This was one of my favorite vlogs. Great behind the scenes story, every word kept me interested.
Cool I love the show
My brother works in the film industry in Manhattan for IATSE as a union Best Boy electrician which means they tell him the light effect they need, he figures out the light schemes, rigs and sets them up for the scene but the one thing he always talks about is the food they have. If you think indoor set food is impressive, you should see what they have when they’re doing outdoor work. Especially if it’s shitty weather cus they just want the crew and actors to stay warm and happy. Side note, my brothers boss is Mike Marona, the older Pete from Adventures of Pete and Pete.
first class junkie gotta respect the Ripper
first class junkie Yapple Dapple!!
I was neighbors with a Casting Director in my teens. He hired me as an extra in a movie called Drugstore Cowboy starring a Matt Dillion and James Remar. I made the mistake of trying to speak to both actors while they were sitting next to each other in their waiting chairs; Matt said “get the fuck out of my face”. As I began to walk away, James grabbed me by my arm and said “Sorry my co worker is such an asshole”, referring to Matt. James later gave me an autographed photo.
Jordan, I love it when you just talk about your experiences! That was a big deal and I don't think many of us have done anything like that. You are an excellent storyteller. Thanks for sharing your memories.
Holy Moly this was great Jordan!!! I was only going to watch half because I was up all night and the other half later but you really got me interested so I said the hell with it and watched the whole thing lol.... Thank you for sharing this with us. It would be nice if you had more stories to share. I'm on board with your mom because I like the Big Bang Theory too. You have a wonderful memory to look back on. God Bless and have a great day....
@@poohbearsauntie well thank you lol
Great vid Jordan I've done extra work in London so brought back memories- I was in shot with Meryl Streep
(Iron Lady) and do you know what- she never thanked me for my part in getting her an Oscar! Love all your vlogs Rod in London
That was an interesting behind-the-scenes story of a show my husband and I used to enjoy watching. He is a nuclear physicist and did his doctorate at UCLA. He used to point out some of his old professors in the background of certain scenes.
Wow! What an exoerience! I wanted to be an extra on movie sets when I was young but I lived too far from the studios. I want to thank you for telling your story about being on a tv taping. Actors sure have long days. Too long. Thanks Jordan!
I really enjoyed this Jordan. Thanks for sharing!
This is very interesting! I love how you recalled all the details. Thanks for sharing.
Jeez louise, I had no clue how extremely hard it is to "break into the business!" This puts everything into perspective. Shelly was spot on about your talents. You just chose a different path, and I'm so glad you did!!
This was really interesting. I’m glad you vlogged this story. Tell more!!

So cool! Always wanted to know how all that works! Thanks for sharing your experience Jordan!
As with your parents, this is one of my all-time favorite sitcoms. Thanks for being a star, Jordan. Love this.
What a great story. I had a coworker who lived in LA for awhile and she used to do extra work on her days off back in the 90's. She said she didn't get paid very much but since she was new in town it was a good way to meet new people and it was a cool life experience. Your story was very typical of the ones she would tell. She did say that watching the filming process, although very interesting...completely ruined movies and TV shows for her. Now she finds herself watching all the background stuff rather than concentrating on the main actors.
Hello Jordan! I just came across your CZcams channel and I'm captivated. I can't stop watching your channel. Very informative and enjoy your channel! Keep up the GREAT work!
I really liked this. You had me interested the whole time. To bad you couldn't find a clip! I know you did some other things. How about talking about them and add some clips or pics. I'm 61 and I enjoy what you do in your content. Thanks Jordan!! Happy Easter!!!!!!
Love your vlogs they always put a smile on my face and expecially in these shaky times never lose your great energy 😊. Kev from the UK

Great story! Very entertaining and one of my favorite vlogs now. I’m was just waiting for you to say you got to finish that conversation with Johnny Galecki that would have been a nice ending. Discovered your channel about 2 weeks ago through recommendation that CZcams does and I’ve been watching a lot of your videos since then. I think you do a good job overall and am fascinated with seeing the places, old Hollywood stories, seeing the 40 acre lot, etc. Keep up the good work fellow Ohioan.
Great story Jordan. Always wondered about that. Thanks !
Cool stories Jordan
Love your narration of the experience you had on Big Bang! During your whole story telling I could picture all of it in my head. You are an excellent story teller. Isn't that what movies and tv shows are about? story telling?
Great video!
Cool video, I really like these background stories. Thanks.
Thank you Jordan. That was very insightful.
I enjoy your stories Jordan.
That's a great vlog Jordan. It's very interesting to hear how the movie industry works. I have taken the tour of WB and saw the big bang sound stage. It would be amazing experience to be on a movie or show. Great work Jordan. You are an outstanding story teller
Very interesting. Big Bang is a fav at our house, still watch the reruns. Enjoyed hearing your experience & the processes you went thru. So glad you decided to do this clip.
Fascinating stuff, I truly enjoyed it Jordan.
This was a delightful story, Jordan and you told it really well! I could relate to everything you said, as I did extra work (mainly movies) in NYC and a little (TV) here in L.A. It was fun in the beginning, but got old really fast. I began to feel like a piece of the set and started wondering why I spent all that money on acting classes! I know what you mean about the craft table. The extras were always the ones grabbing food and bagging stuff to take home! Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience with us.
One of my favotie episodes Ive seen from you, I was kept interested the whole time, great job! It would been super freaking cool if you had some footage though, but top job!
Wow. Never realized there's so much stuff behind the scenes. Good video!!
Thank you for this vlog! I really enjoyed it! I've only done stand-up comedy when I lived in NYC and live theater. I had no idea about the long hours involved for being an extra on a TV show, and how difficult it must be for the actors when scripts are suddenly rewritten/revised.
I really enjoyed hearing that story . I think everyone has wondered what it would be like to be on a sitcom . Thanks to you we now have a pretty good idea .
Great stories. Great vlog.
Loved the story...very interesting stuff! I was hoping you were going to show some video footage of you actually on the show.
I dont have it.. just the photo I used in the video. I never watched it. My parents did, so they sent me the photo
@@DazewithJordantheLion so could we please at least see it Jordan
Your vlogs are always great Jordan. You have an interesting life.
That was a cool story Time. 📘 Well ya made Jonny's day also, to bad you didn't get to finish the story to him. Thank you Jordan! 💙
Very cool! It's 7 AM and enjoying your awesome 'Behind the Scenes' story with my morning coffee. What a great way to start the day! Thanks again, Jordan!!!
Awesome story!
The best part of being a extra the free food 😋
Sadly, on sets.. that's all background actors are motivated by
Excellent story!
Awesome! very informative and well spoken! thank you!
I live in one of those idyllic Hallmark Movie towns and have done background work through our local casting agency for fun on some of those. The food is always important to everyone, but for me the funnest part is getting to know community members that I haven't met before who were also cast. Fun times!
That was a really interesting story it's amazing the situations people end up in thanks for sharing
Real interesting vlog Jordan. Thank you for sharing your experience with us...Jutta
Thank you! I've always wanted to hear about your experience on that show. Very interesting indeed!
