  • This video is the first in a series where we design, program, install and test a MIDI kit for a vintage analog drum machine using Arduino as our development platform. We will be using the Roland CR-8000 as a prototypical vintage instrument that we would like to control with MIDI. Many of the same principles apply to other instruments but are specially relevant when we consider early electronic drum machines. We will be documenting the entire process from start to finish in such a way that it could serve as an introduction to using Arduino or other microcontroller systems to interface with MIDI. Whether you are new to Arduino, new to modifying vintage drum machines or a seasoned pro this we aim to describe the project in sufficient detail for each of you and give you all the information you need if you would like to do something like this on your own. Thanks for watching!

I would like to improve a Mattel synsonics analog drum machine.
