The Tesla Tank stun locked the Mastadon to death.
So basically the Mastodon is so spectacularly tough that it's a better idea to just try to disable it instead of fighting fair and square.
Good think it's just as spectacularly vulnerable to being disabled.
When the Foehn music kicks in:

Whislt it is nice showing just what kind of absolute anti-armor freak the mastodon is, its tactical value is rather low, namely its build speed and overal unit speed makes it unsuited for attacking.
It can defeat any tank (except tesla) one - on - one. but will fail miserably against anti-armor infantry and base defences. not only that, its build cost (2400) is higher than even stolen tech units. it also has a minimun range, so using a fast tank to bum rush it leaves it defenceless. Always mix and match your army.
Not to mention Yuri could just control it and it turns on your own vehicles.
The Last Bastion has strong ground but it will do it no good if you lose all your Mastadons to control
I think it's just good to rush your PsiCorps enemy with infantry and hope to god they don't micro their masterminds and mind control the mastodons.
But they do actually pretty well against defences due to the range and damage.

@@nemoedward1221 Assumung the charon tank can get the jump on the mastodon while it is focused on another target and doesn't get 1-shot, a charon tank could pretty easilly beat a mastodon.

You could add apocalypse tank, battle fortress, worm queen and cyborg commando to this game. They are able in skirmish
Last Bastion is the best sub faction for the Foehn for me.
With Uragan/Quetzals in the air and a bunch of Mastodons/Huntresses in the ground, the whole death ball becomes somewhat immortal.
If there's an air fleet then the Giantbane mass can deal significant damage.
Ofcourse the weakness of this is that the deathball is gonna cost a shit load so don't allow the Last Bastion to get this far.
The Last Bastion seems like Yuri in the vanilla game. Weak earlh game, unkillable late game.

They don't have ground artillery, for one. And no, boidmachine is an epic unit.
Best thing about them is the gharial, to counter whatever dirty trick enemy throws. And the giantsbane as close second to compliment the croc.
the only downside of Last Bastion is the lack of artillery unit other than Quetzal and Leviathan, which other Foehn subs have anyway... Haihead got Shadray while Coronia got Tarchia Cannon

There are other units that deal considerable more damage, but the Mastodon is just exceptionally tough to kill
being able to 1v1 almost all other tanks doesn't actually mean anything though; the apocalypse is anti-everything, whereas the mastadon fails miserably if even a few infantry are mixed into an army (try taking out goddamn giantsbanes with it!), also the mastadon is insanely slow, so you can never force engagements with it like you can with a lot of other super tanks like the battle fortress or abrams, or tesla cruiser. tldr - mastadon is the MO equvilent of a beefed-up tank destroyer from RA2.

I don't understand why you think the apocalypse is so good against infantry.
Abrams isn't even really a "super tank". It has rather poor armor on it. It's more versatile than anything else and shouldn't be used specifically for tank battles.
This vehicle can be excellent if it's backed up with artillery as well as some anti infantry and anti air. It shouldn't be used in any other situation.
The devs purposely not give Foehn any Super Unit in favour of MADMAN as de-facto Super Unit X)
So basically the thing is a tough SOB to break unless you utilize sheer numbers, EMP or Mind Control
or any "certain kill" attacks like Chrono phase and terror drones (the 2nd one is easily solved by having Minermites nearby tho)

to be fair mastadons are extremely slow and can easily be kited. even if you have 20 mastadons on your side if lets say the enemy has shadow tanks or abrams, (the most balanced and versatile tank in the game, in my opinion) can take down a mastadon and then drive away before the rest can fire their cannons since mastadons takes time to fire their cannons and they can`t fire on the move. plus they`re super duper slow.
But they still wouldn't be able to kill a single mastadon like that because of the fast nano repairs. They would just tickle the mastadons and run away
I defeated a C&C veteran playing MO first time by rolling over him with 12 mastodon tanks...
He dont like playing MO with me anymore...
If the heroes and units are in elite rank they might able to even the odds with the mastodon even it is elite.
Is Arnie Frankfurter and Sammy even in any of the campaigns or maps? Considering they aint on the wiki, i was pretty sure they werent touched once by the devs for the mod.
They are in Yuri's Revenge, Hollywood and Vain for Allied campaign. Probably just a legacy thing the MO team left in there.
By the campaigns and maps i meant if they were reused in any manner in MO, but thanks for responding.

CptGhostNOVA That's what I found bad about the tank, it's bad against Epsilon.
In terms of brute force and sheer power, it is the best unit in the game. It falls vulnerable to Epsilon's dirty tactics and large infantry groups. Never make an army made up of only this unit. Get anti infantry and anti air.
I thought the Paladin tanks were the best in the game.

This tank should be used with a large army for versatility. Just thors in addition won't settle. Try using really good anti infantry with really good anti-air.
Or you can spam wolfhounds. Jack-of-all-trades like them do well in large numbers.

Gives Centurion 3 desolators instead of 3 tesla troopers/yanru ...yeah thats fair.... give him anti infantry loadout vs a super tank :T

@@trillyfan2578 Basically there are two kinds of crushing in this game: regular crushing, and omnicrush.
For example, a Tesla Trooper is immune to a regular crush (e.g. Main Battle Tanks can't run over it) but it's vulnerable to omnicrush (e.g. can be run over by monster tanks). A unit that is immune to omnicrush can't be run over by anything.

Why mastodon can't kill telsa's
The mastodon's weapon has a charge time - switching targets or forcing it to stop firing resets that time.
The tesla cruiser's EMP effect stop the firing process and forces the mastodon to begin all over again.
Never just use 1 unit, mix and match to cover weaknesses. just mastodon while lose against any infantry or air-based army and there speed means they are better suited to defend as to attack.

Good to use with Mastodon to cover its weakness? You can use Giantsbanes and Godsbanes, Gharials, and Buzzards. You can add some Tier 1 units.

@@MrFehmer he has edited INI files, thats why he has: arnnie, flint,sammy,rashidi,yuri prime,can make 3 irkallas instead of 1 like in the normal Mental Omega,super apocalypse tanks(can make 2,they are the ones in the coop mission Mad Monster), super thors,krokov,reznov,future tank X-O,some kind of floating Yuri head like the statue one,space commando. If you want to get them, you will have to edit the INI files from Mental Omega

Not unbalanced. It is slow, expensive, and bad against infantry and structures. It should be used in a versatile army.
It's better in theory than in practice
