  • This is a topic that's been going around for a bit. I saw it at ‪@BookishTexan‬ and ‪@M-J‬ and I can't remember where else, but I thought it would be fun to jump into the convo with my thoughts... which are these five simple rules. Let me know what you think! And if you think there should be more actual rules, or no rules at all!

Hi Suey! I enjoyed this video and hearing your rules for BookTube. You are TERRIFIC! What’s “coolness”? Talking about books is cool enough in my eyes! Great video, my friend! 😊

    Very good advice.

I agree 110% with rules 1, 3, and 5, while rules 2 and 4 I agree depending on how it is approached. I think that Booktube channels should primarily be about books, reading, and literature and have some kind of connection to such, but it is sometimes okay for channels to touch upon another interest as well. I have enjoyed creating content where we play games and complete writing exercises. As for your Rule 4, I think that participating is incredibly beneficial. It may not be through readathons or collaborations, but watching other videos and commenting on them is important. Booktube is meant to be something that people enjoy and I always felt that it should be welcoming and celebratory of the fact that people are connected across the globe with a common interest in books, reading, and literature. I think in general people have difficulty feeling that they are comfortable being themselves. I have come to the conclusion that being yourself and allowing others to be themselves is the best way to go about living and thus conducting a channel. Rule 1 is completely self-explanatory. Just be decent and do not restrict yourself or others as long as you and others are being decent. I also feel that people should read what they want. Be open to try new things, but don't force yourself to read what you do not want. It is like trying food. You should not be forced to eat what you know you do not like. The same can be said about reading. Thank you for sharing! -Josh

YOU ARE SO COOL JUST BEING YOU! 🤗

  • @awebofstories

    Great rules!

Hi Suey.. I found myself agreeing to a lot of what you said. I also have trouble with the tags because I don’t know who to tag -if I tag someone I think they’ll be wondering why in the heck did this person tag me in this? I don’t wanna do it. But that is me overthinking everything .And also thinking that I’m not cool lol. I love to see people being their authentic self on CZcams as authentic as that can be when you’re making a video. And you’ve encouraged me to make my own five rules of CZcams. :)

  • @royreadsanything

Great video! I 100% love all your rules - I think you've summed up some important perspective-keeping stuff. And as others have said, you're totally cool!

  • @megansmiley9540

    I think you're cool, Suey!!! 😎

  • @Michelelynnreads

I love all of these! Thanks for sharing!

  • @serenaagustocox

Participating seems like the same rule as blogging. You have to comment or tag to build community

  • @BookishTexan

I endorse all of these rules. ⚡️

  • @ellenmadebookclub

Great rules! I think you’re cool. I think there are many ways to be cool. If that’s the goal or not, I don’t know. I would rather be happy 😊

  • @heathereads

The Booktubers I like best are the uncool ones
