This is the second home in which czcams.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).
Great video! Thank you for showing all the steps! I bought the same lock a few month ago to install all our rooms but the cost of installation is very expensive. Now we will install this lock on our own, not paying anything. Thank you again!
This is a great guide.
I just want to point out how important it is to use the striker plate included in the kit. Many people fit the lock and don’t find the need to replace the stricken plate if there’s already one there from an older lock.
The reason it’s important to use the striker plate included is because if you look 👀 closely at the snib (the part which protrudes from the door into the frame you will notice there is a pin which rides with the snib. Now, the purpose of this pin is to detect if the door is open or closed.
What I mean is… When the included striker plate is installed correctly, the striker plate will accommodate the snib, BUT it holds back the rider pin. The reason for this is.. when the pin is held back, the snib becomes a dead bolt. Meaning it cannot be pushed back into the door. When the door is open and the rider is out WITH the snib it allows the snib to be pushed into the door.
The explanation for this is quite simple. When the door is open and the rider is out. It allows the snib to be pushed in so when you push the door closed the snib pops in and then pops out into the striker plate. Allowing the door to be closed.
Now, why do we want the rider to be held back to convert the snib into a dead bolt? Well, the reason for this is to prevent nefarious people from sliding tools in to push the snib back from the outside. 😊
Hence, it’s VERY VERY important you use all the parts included in the kit. Including the striker plate. That accommodates the snib and hold the rider pin back to deaden the bolt.
Stay safe guys.
Great video, well explained and straight to the point 👍🏻
Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it 👍
Excellent video. It looks like the gentleman delivers lectures on joinery work at an institute. Well done
haha not with the terrible job I did on that door frame before sharpening my chisel! 🤣🤣
good video, i installed it yesterday and wish I had seen your video first!
a tip; instead of marking the contour with a pencil, try with a sharp knife.
Useful information 👍🏻
Glad you think so!
Good, just one thing I would add (especially working with timber doors and 44mm+ thick doors), when drilling through the side of the door for the spindle, square the centre line round both sides of the door and mark the spindle position on both sides, drill from each side of the door, this keeps the hole straight and prevents the timber splitting on the face sides. 8~)
Good tip 👍
Very helpful!! Thank you :)
thanks pro it was eyser explication
Glad it was helpful 😁
Thank you 😇
You're welcome 😊
Awesome video! Very helpful and easier to use than the template that was included with my lousy instructions. However, I'm having a challenge. When I enter the code and turn the handle, the latch opens, and remains in the open position. I haven't tightened these very tight; in fact there are still gaps between the lock and the door so it's not even tightened as it should be. But it seems like there is some friction somewhere in the assembly that is preventing the latch from returning to the closed position once I tighten the assembly just a little bit. Any thoughts? Many thanks from New Mexico, USA.
Hmm, that's strange... could it be *because* you've not fully tightened it, is something not (yet) quite aligning properly? Hard to say without seeing it as all mechanisms are slightly different from different manufacturers. Some WD-40 might also help, but it might also not so take that with a pinch of salt! If no joy, then it could be a faulty lock I guess, so might need replacing. Good luck getting it sorted!
Can you just make this replace the existing door handle and latch?
You could if you want, although I prefer to have it in addition as the existing handle gives you something more substantial to grasp when closing the door. The existing handle will also have holes and hollowed-out sections of the door which aren't for this lock so that might cause issues and/or make it less secure.
Super
Wye didn't use the template for fitting
Wow
Any vids on the 5 bottom simplex lock?
Not on this channel no, sorry
hi this is john wot are you doing today i hop that your day going gat
Nice thumb
How much cost labour for fitting such a lock? It's looking very complicated for me.
You'll have to check with local tradespeople in your area for a quote...
Breaking bad fan? :)
👍👍
Can you confirm that the link for this combination lock is updated?
Yes, I think it should direct you to the Yale P-DL02-SC? (Is this the affiliate link - geni.us/TKyA2 - you mean?)
Hey is there anyway to change to code on these locks??
Yes, see my other video on it 🙂
@@SwitchedOnNetwork link and sure
Here you are: czcams.com/video/bg0wzk7UB54/video.html
The handle has fallen off on the inside of mine, Is there no way of opening it up from the outside?
hmmm, has the spindle fallen out as well?!
@@SwitchedOnNetwork yeah! Haha
I had to take inside door frame off. Luckily the curve of the lock was facing me so managed to slide it open with a flathead.
good work!
I tried to put it together but gave up. Just cannot get the correct orientation of the spindle correct. What a nightmare.
Hmm, that's odd. What make/model of lock is this with?
@@SwitchedOnNetwork Thanks for your reply. Not sure about the brand. After an hour of trying to get the letch in the correct position with a lot of cursing and swearing, I left it till the next day. The next morning it miraculously worked at the first go. Now I will think twice before changing the code.
Great, glad it's sorted!
hello, how do we set the first password?
See my other video on how to set/change the code 👍
Why so fast.
What do you mean?
🚛🚜
He blurred out his code 🤣
Sure did! 🤣
How do u add the code?
See my other video 👍
All that to hide an internet porn addiction.
😂😂
I think you installed it backwards. A credit card can breakthrough your lock.
Really? Which bit?
These locks are crap. There is a way of opening any of these without actually knowing the code.
Yes, that's true (I've tested it on this very one) but EVERY lock is bypassable if you know how and have the skills/tools. Knowing the level of security given vs. that which is required is important, so you can select an appropriate solution.
