- Fr. Robert Lauder has a deep connection to the arts including film, stage and literature. THE CATHOLIC NOVEL is a lecture series that will focus on some of his favorite novels where Catholicism is treated favorably.
This 5th episode highlights Walker Percy's THE MOVIEGOER!
Excellent analysis. Helped me understand the novel better. Thanks.
As a someone who has tried unsuccessfully to “understand” Walker Percy’s novel, I’m very thankful for the organizing framework that this lecture provides.
Very good. One of my favorites and The Father gave great background.
Great to see you on you tube……..thank you…
Would you please do a commentary on Walker Percy's: The Thenatos Syndrome.
?
And he read Soren Kierkegaard. Percy was using his methods in such a beautiful way in The Moviegoer. It's my favorite book.
Ever do Keys of the Kingdom by AJ Cronin?? Great channel!
The best opera COULD save you. It could be a deeply spiritual experience that COULD even lead to a religious or spiritual realization. This, in fact, happened to more than 1 famous musician (often resulting in becoming Catholic or other Christian denomination)
Conceptualizing 3 categories of humans doesn't seem very Godly or loving or unlimited. Perhaps this gentleman is representing Kierkegaard inaccurately.
I look forward to sampling Mr. Percy's work
