- Alien Soldier (Genesis) All Bosses (No Hit = No Damage by enemies. Difficulty: SuperHard). Alien Soldier is another great game by Treasure (Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy). It's a pretty unique game, because almost entire game is one long Boss Rush: over 20 (!) bosses, and some of them have two or more forms. Boss design is very cool. I like werewolf guy and boss on the horse (actually, he looks like Fang from Contra Hard Corps 0_0... but only with hat, well... and riding the cyborg horse... Stop! The hat and cyborg horse? It's Vampire Hunter D! :D Anyway, I'll say it again - it's a great game. All Contra Fans and just hardcore gamers should play it! Boss list:

I found out that this game was made by one dude and he wanted to include 100 bosses. Amazing what he was able to accomplish.

@@RetroPiero gotta remember carts only went to like 32Megabit which wasn't that much , only so much can store . But yea, some kind of sequel or successor would be nuts. Gotta have the photo-realistic bug textures too

I always get confused when I find games like this. Like how did characters like Samus, Sonic, Megaman, and more get so much acclaim & recognition, but this is the first time I've ever seen this guy.

Arcade games (including games that emulate it like this one) were blowing up so fucking high even when the Genesis and SNES were present, definitely wasn't niche, and are you really telling me games like Metroid, Megaman and Castlevania aren't fucking harder? they ARE way more difficult dude.

@@PENNSYLVANIA5999 that's not my point dude, what I was saying is there are definitely games that are way harder than the game in this video yet are far more popular, I never claimed those were the only difficult games out there and I worded it carefully.
This game was the top notch game for Genesis and probably even better(technically) than any Snes game at the time, it required a lot of time to be developed and the main problem is that it has been released in 1995 when PS was out and megadrive already dead(this means publishers didn't invest money to have better votes by magazines... ). The game is hard but fulfilling and the boss mechanics very various. Castlevania SoN, dark Souls and many modern metroidvania games are clearly inspired by the boss design and mechanics of this game...
There are no words to describe how beautifully crafted this game is.
I always wondered who taught Captain Falcon his famous *_"Falcon" Punch_*, and Fox his *_Fire "Fox"_*.
Now I know that it was Epsilon Eagle, master of the "Phoenix Force". :D

@@TheMixedPlateFrequency It was released in Japan and Europe on the Mega Drive, and was exclusive to Sega Channel. They also re-released it on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console.

I like how in the title it says no hit instead of no damage because yes it is true that he didn’t take hits but doing that big fireball attack (teleporting at full health) deals damage

@@powerstones7722 No I’m saying that the creator of the video had a nice attention to detail when specifying because no HITS and no DAMAGE mean two different things. If something is mandatory and not doing it causes unavoidable damage in a game, you have to switch the title from “no damage” to “no hit” to clear any possible confusion up. Honestly I think I made this subject even more confusing lol
I finished it on Sega genesis first time when it come out, import ntsc version, very expensive. It was a shock to me, amazing graphic and great gameplay with very high difficult also for young a player of the 16 bit generation skilled by contrast hard corps/probotector, dynamite headdy and other difficult games.
The final boss tossing around the stage was so original.

I'm trying to make a game that has a similar animation to the horse boss and I'm in awe of the technical execution involved with synchronizing this horse's run cycle.
I know im late but the horse uses multiple segments
Usually it involves multiple smaller sprites and what they do is have those sprites in different positions so it can be animated smoothly

@@mtnnoonanEverything is sprites except the body/rider and tail, which are on plane B. A small part of the back of the body gets overwritten by the tail animation tiles. The fact that the tail animation doesn't use the body tiles as part of it suggests the tail was originally intended to be a sprite

I wonder how many Seven Forces were created. Gunstar Green also had a Seven Force robot. Golden Silver was the final boss in Gunstar Heroes. Golden Siliver is also a alternate boss in Guardian Heroes. I wonder to the Treasure games cross over in each others worlds?

as far as i know, seven force is in gunstar heroes (also in the GBA sequel) and in Alien Soldier. It's also mentioned as a mechanic in Astro Boy: Omega Factor, also for GBA.

Spiderweb boss was such an interesting boss encounter. Such a great setup, intro, and fight’s progression...

One of the best fights in the game by far! Especially intense on super hard because back stringer takes a lot longer to die, so the danger of your platform being completely dragged down by the baby spiders is super amplified... it's amazing
This gives me Gunstar Heroes vibes, one of the best Genesis games of all time. I might have to try get this game. Kinda proves the link at 21:25 then seven force after. xD

@MajinZarak: For as obscure and difficult as Alien Soldier is and can be, the weirdness of its sci-fi atmosphere seems to always get overlooked by most gamers. It has, among other things, enemies that look like feces with faces and feet, knockoffs of the Robot from Lost in Space, and, of all things, a blue, anthropomorphic teddy bear that sadly gets killed in the crossfire of the protagonist's battle against an army of killer mutant monsters and robots.

This game was legendary so hard to master but so fun and it looks from the year to be at the end of the sega genesis life span
Just recently got this game on original hardware!! For the longest time I've overlooked it because of that super generic name .." alien soldier " , but a year or two later I've been enlightened that this is by far the most impressive "mega driver's custom" game ever released on the system, especially the large sprites and multi jointed bosses with pseudo rotation effects , it's a shame that we would probably never see the original vision of this game.. maybe someday if treasure decides to remaster the game or something?
I really want to give this game a try it looks like fun, i saw this game on steam being sold for only 99 cents.

To this day, I’m surprised Epsilon-1, 7th Force and Xi-Tiger weren’t the finals bosses. Mostly based on the intro and lore.

This game was released before it was completely finished. That’s why you never fight some of the bosses from the intro. Can’t really blame the developers since they were probably on a very tight schedule and the megadrive was already a last gen console by 1995. They still should’ve given it a physical release in the U.S though
+ for not spaming Lancer, and showing that Ranger Force can be quite usefull.

If you look closely, every time the player uses the fire dash, he takes 50 damage. That's why this is not a "no-damage" run, but a "no-hit".
There is no such a game on Super Famicom. I love and collect Super Famicom games, don't get me wrong but there simply isn't.

That is the main reason why treasure employees chose the genesis instead of the snes. Things like this were impossible on the snes.

Kind of surprising no one really seems to care about that hack, and just sticks to the 50hz Pal, or 60hz Japanese rom. Me, gimmie the best of both.
О, одна из моих любимых игр на сегу, проходил её несколько сотен раз. Некоторых боссов можно убить одним телепортом, если повезёт с таймингом. Странно, что ты Lancer Force практически не использовал, он и Flame самые эффективные на боссах.
Здесь, кстати, можно стрелять и бежать одновременно (вниз+A), облегчило бы тебе задачу.
Советую ещё посмотреть TAS, если интересно. Он офигенный и многие трюки из него вполне возможно провернуть и самому.

I played this game well enough to know.. this is the megadrive version.. the genesis version the action was way faster.. still this is still a great game and seeing it again makes me want to play it again..
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the genesis and the mega drive were the same console, just named differently depending on where it was bought.
@@tgg1033 The Megadrive was running PAL 50hz while the genesis was NTSC at 60Hz all games on the genesis played faster.. i know this cause i had both systems.. although Pal looked better i always enjoyed the actioned at a faster pace especially the Sonic games..
