  • Two federal judges in Missouri and Kansas halted sections of a Biden administration initiative intended to lower student loan payments, raising questions for the millions of Americans impacted by the program. I worked hard since i was 14. Got working papers and a job after school. By 16 I knew i wanted to do IT. I worked and payed my way through a BS. I worked harder than most my age and sacrificed a lot. I'm 32 and make a littler over 100k. I am not particularly "smart". But no parties, no "year off to travel" just grind. I find it to be an absolute insult that my tax dollars should go help pay for Jennie Nobody's MS in Butterfly Therapy just because she's not qualified to be anything but a barista.

My school made us buy a textbook where our teacher was a co-author and had a financial interest in the sale of the book. It was $500. I downloaded that book, printed it out, and told her it got water damaged so i had to put the pages into a binder. She then gave me a copy of her book which i then sold back to the library at the end of the semester. I think i got about 150 for it. Treated myself to some buffalo wild wings LOL.

Repayment is still determined by income, not balance, and capped at a total of 300 monthly payments where any balance is then forgiven. They created IDR in 2009 because borrowers and graduates could not find gainful jobs after the GFC to pay back their loans. The fed thought the situation was temporary and would get better with time but it has become more of a permanent problem than they had anticipated. With millions of graduates and degree holders unable to find steady, gainful employment no one is going to have to pay back their loans unless income starts increasing at a rate that outpaces their ability to qualify for forgiveness under the current 2009 legislation.

@rodicarsone1262 I did not go to college. I own a small business and college grads and seniors are my largest customer base. Freeing them of some of the debit from the high interest will put more money in their pockets to spend at small businesses like mine. In return I will be paying more federal taxes on the higher profit and hopefully be able to afford employee tax and create a new job for someone.
