- Check out this Chevy 1500 dash mod! This was built with a Soundman SIDE SLIDER dash kit for the 12.9" iPad PRO. I made a din sized opening behind the iPad so that the customer can access his Sony RSX-GS9 head unit when the iPad is undocked from the kit. I painted the panel OEM blue. @@saenztrucking currently at the moment finishing same kit in my c1500 . I have no idea where to mount the climate panel besides behind the slider kit . . Recessed flush some way .
I don’t have a custom console to relocate the climate panel and how do people reach to extend the climate control wiring and vacuum lines anyhow ??
@@saenztrucking On my 03 s10 i recessed flush and ca glued the climate controls panel behind the Side slider kit accessible through a single din size cutout
But that climate panel on a OBS c1500 is wider so I’m in a dilemma how too finagle this behind and attach a bracket

It can be done on the newer model GMT800 (‘99-‘07). I’m pretty sure it could be done, using a Bluetooth controller, if you really know what you are doing. (I don’t have that level of expertise. I’m a fabricator, not a programmer.)
If you wanna learn I can teach anyone it’s not that hard if you run some motors to a raspberry pi and you and app as system control. If you can dream it you can build it
If you have the a/c controls with the knobs instead of buttons or touch screen. You would need to wire a set of digital a/c controls off of a newer model. That's actually not very hard except the button less controls are wired in the ecu it is what actually controls the heat and air. But with saying that there's a couple of years that did not run through the ecu. You just need to read up on what did what. With doing this it gives you a flat screen. But at the exact same time if you are able to attach wires and extend your wiring they sell a radio wedge shape mount for 18 wheelers. They did this because the older trucks didn't have room in the cockpit area, so they designed it to be mounted over head. You would have to drill into the lower portion of your dash in the knee bolster well to the right below the radio and a/c controls and you can install the original controller in it then use fiberglass to customize it so that that it looks to be part of the dash then your screws are gone out of sight out of mind. And you could as well install the controller in the glove compartment but don't just toss it in the compartment actually make it look like it came that way. And that's alot of problems when it comes to custom work and why the labor is so expensive. Only down fall is that you have to reach across the truck in order to change settings on your controller. I actually have a 1997 Chevrolet silverado k1500 extended cab. And I have a/c controls, 4 wheel drive controls, and the pass. Airbag off and on switch along with the cargo light switch. Know with saying that the Airbag switch and the cargo lamp switch can dissappear in the dash, but the 4 wheel drive switches and the a/c controls have to be accessible. Although I do have a custom center console because I took a set of power seat's from a Tahoe. I wired and installed them in the truck. So I can move everything over to the console so that the docking station can be installed in the dash or simpler thing just install the ipad in the console and leave the head unit where it goes. You can always design a different console.
If you can think of it you can make it. Make an app.
Wish i would have seen this before i bought my $1,500 Kenwood with 12" floating screen.

It’s not even that, why the fuck do you want a subscription device in your car or limited customization. Like bruh I’m not paying 900$ to potentially get my car broken into so I can pay 30$ for the adapter to pay 5$ a month access to music streaming. I’m throwing in a 60$ android tablet with an aux cord in there with a Spotify crack and calling it a day.
I think it’s the idea of putting an apple in a customized piece. They’re uniform and by their rule book. And because their software is limited (albeit now way more customizable), you can just do way more with an android.
The only dub I see in this situation is FMIP if you’re ***again the theme is*** PAYING for cell service. And after all these micro transactions are done, you could have just financed a McLaren 😭 like mfs will whine about BMW heated seat subscriptions but will throw money at this shit.

That's crazy $250 for a piece of plastic and still have to fabricate for it to fit. I think for 250 it should be plug and play especially with all the technology that's available. 3d model printers and scanners for factory bolt/screw patterns. This like some well crafted homemade merchandise. I'd personally Pay $100 max for something like this.

ironically, that iPad is gonna keep shutting down during hot summer months from overheating and lack of a/c 😂
This would be great for my truck, though I would modify it just a bit. Instead of right at the steering wheel where the A/C controls are, how about you move it to the right some above the fuel tank selector. Then angle it some so it's facing you. That way nothing is lost and all your standard gauges can still be seen/used.
This looks cool and so easy to pull for diagnosing in the future.

Use a small sheet of steel and glue for the back of the iPad then put a magnet behind the dash so it won’t fall when hitting bumps on the road

Ac vents are still there you just have to extend the wires for the climate control panel and relocate it

@@dylanbarnett1513 Well I Drive ONE EVERY DAY… So under the dash…?? NOPE,THEY RIGHT UNDERNEATH THE STEREO. BUD. I LOVE THIS BUT AM SO LIKING MY HEAT AND FAN CONTROLS AND 4x4 with cool little pocket.. I have double din DVD player. With car play. Works well. But the wires are a Bit Packed especially with RCA CABLES ALSO. THIS IS SOMETHING ID LOOK INTO GETTING NEXT. For my 96 Silverado. My daily driver.
