@@SaNiizAwSoMe You want to do enough damage to push the Eater back (500) but not so much that you kill him outright, because then you won't gain the two Level 1 key spheres. He only needed about a hundred more damage that round and Lulu's fire would have done more than is prudent.
The first playthrough, that thing pushed the party off the cliff, and Auron had some coachings for Tidus. It's an example, that he was preparing Tidus for Jecht.
The benefits of pushing CE over the cliff is obvious level 1 keys but you also stand a chance of getting a rare weapon drop of magic/strength 10%. I highly recommend saving before battle and keep retrying the battle for the desired drop.
When you knock him on his back, pay attention to the bosses turn. Wait until his turn passes, then do 500 dmg as fast as possible, so when he stands up, you have more turns before he attacks again, avoiding being pushed back.
just let each of your characters get 1 action in to recieve exp then go ahead and summon ifrit , i used 1 regular attack to immediately knock him over then one weak fire to push him back , rinse repeat 3 times and he's gone over the edge.
first time i tried i got pushed off, then let myself die in the smaller battles too ashamed hahaha i reloaded and used a lot of fire on it, and when i was back where i stood first, i used the fire aeon yuna has, its overdrive nearly killed it, then another meteor strike on it and it died. ;-)
It doesnt matter if you dont push it off. Lvl1 spheres arent that rare anyway. You get plenty of them as needed. The game is balanced to understand that you probably wont push it off.
If you are pushed off the cliff, you see a chocobo feather fall. This indicates it went back to eating chocobos before getting killed by a machina weapon.
Cast haste, just to skip turns?
Only true gamers will understand.
@@carnivalcadaver69 yes but......why?can you please explain ?
@@SaNiizAwSoMe No
@@carnivalcadaver69 so basically theres no explanation lol

Deal 1200 dmg to knock it over then 500 to push it back.
Thank you, Your comment is more useful than the stupid 3 min vid

I've never seen what happens when chocobo eater gets pushed off as I always just kill it. That was pretty amusing to see.
And with a lot less strategizing than the first video I endured, lol!
Yes that was satisfying!🤣
genuinely thank you you are a life saver

I love FF logic.
Swords slashes and LITERAL magic: I could do this all day.
20ft drop: insta kill.
there could be some sharp rocks down at the bottom of that cliff u never know
Also dark souls logic
I usually summon valefor since he can’t be pushed back lol
First time I see this! Awesome! It always Pushed me down the cliff when I was a kid... Now i kill it but never find out how to push it...
Don't use any Extract abilities/weapons if you want those lvl 1 spheres. They will replace those & your efforts wi have been for naught.
Nikolai Hillis thanks
got some lucky ass crits from auron there
How’d you get Flametongue already?
Thank you!! This worked!
glad it helped.
@@carnivalcadaver69 do you remember how you got Flametongue before this fight? Couldn’t find it anywhere and in no shops. Is it a drop?
@@asneakylawngnome5792 i have no idea, im sorry, but I imagine its a drop yeah
Every time I get him to the edge, he promptly pushes me straight back.
Reminds me of FF7... the only and first game I ever played... You have an awesome vid!

I didn't know you could push it back that far I killed it before it fell off
glad to help
Mine would auto get up and always push back right away no matter what i tried lol
Same
I haven’t had the time to use the sphere grid yet. It’s a bit hard now. :)
lol what?
@@rbeforme yep, skipped it for a long time. 😂
I didnt know that u can push this to water 😂🤣
I always kill this chocobo eater 😅😅
And I always get pushed. 😂

I prefer to overkill ce. Exp is better for me
Those key spheres are very useful early on. You can just grind if you want XP

then don't push it off
Called Cocobo eater but you don't see it eat any chocobos.
Did you not see it put down the chocobo it was holding in order to fight your party?

Where do u get haste ?
On the sphere grid..
i never seen him get knocked over
There's no way to win the fight without doing it...
But i slayed it🧐
You can get 2 lvl1 key spheres for beating it this way, BUT you're ineligible for extra AP from Overkill.
Don’t even waste time with this boss just kill it
