    Are salted black beans the same as preserved black beans that we get to buy in Chinese provision shops? Thanks.

      No, they are not the same. Those ‘salted black beans’ in the video (tausi) are packaged with water in cans and are made in the Philippines and used in their dishes, but the fermented black soy beans (Douchi), which are very popular in Chinese cuisine, is not the same thing and the flavour will be vastly different. When you cut into an actual Chinese douchi, its inside is as black as the outside, and you will need about half or quarter the amount used in the video for your dish because it is quite strong/pungent. My advice is to head to a Chinese grocer if you are looking for the flavour of Chinese fermented black soy beans (douchi).
