    I know that this video is over 5 Years old , i just want to say a big Thanks as this solved an issue that i was having with a Pioneer head unit that i took out of my old car and put into my Sons Ute. even though i bought a harness i still needed to swap over the red and yellow wires to stop the damn thing from resetting. Just glad that the Harness had connectors in the middle of the wires to switch.

    I replaced a stock radio in my 2001 sunfire that intermittently lost the clock settings , noticing it at ignition start. I replaced it with a new radio which now has the same problem. It loses settings only sometimes. Never during a ride, always during ignition off. What do I need to look for? I made sure the ground was screwed down tight to the frame. I double checked red and yellow wires. I even replaced the battery ground wire that had some corrosion. Help!

    I have an issues with Skoda Fabia 2007, the have bridged the Red and Yellow wire at the main connection box, which is the only way to get the radio to switch on. However this is stopping the central locking from working. I have switched the yellow and Red wire around which doesn't make any difference. I have checked all fuses which are all working fine. once I disconnect power from the radio my central locking works. what could be the problem?

    My memory is fine because I wired it straight to battery. However my radio still sporadically resets when it wants to, a screen will pop up asking me to accept terms of agreement or something. I do not believe it's the stereo because the unit before this one did the same thing every once in awhile. The other unit I tried before my current Jensen would turn off completely and I would have to disconnect battery and reconnect before unit would come on. Like I said my memory is fine on current unit but is does do resets sporadically when I start vehicle. Could my problem possibly be a bad/ dirty ignition switch?it definitely seems like problem has worsened since I added a remote start.

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  Před 3 lety

      Well usually every radio has a standard wiring color yellow is constant red is for switched power. I am not sure what vehicle you have. If you purchased a special wiring harness and matched everything color for color your radio will or should work that way it is supposed too. If the red and yellow are hooked together power will be applied to both and the radio will stay on forever. If the wires are reversed red to yellow and yellow to red it could stay on that way too.

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  Před 3 lety

      Yes if the red wire and yellow wire are hooked backwards or hooked together, it could cause the radio to stay on all the time even when the car is off. Unless both wires were hooked to the switched wire in the car harness.

    • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  Před 3 lety

      Hmm interesting. Another thing to check is to make sure the constant wire in the vehicle stays constant all the time when it is turned off and been sitting for more than 15 to 30 minutes. Some vehicles may have a wire that stays hot after the vehicle is turned off then shuts down after a length of time. I would say get a multimeter and hook it to your constant car wire put to where you can see it and see if it turns off after a while. If it stays on the whole time and shows a good solid 12ish volts. Then it may be a ground issue

    • @skygh
      @skygh Před 3 lety

      @@Bouray1 The best part of this is the clock stays set. When I pulled yellow it resets otherwise clock stays accurate. I have measured the output of both yellow and red with mulitimeter. Turn key off red drops. Works as accs power should. Yellow is constant 12 volt every time checked so far. Previous JVC had no issues but two Boss units do. Sometimes the memory works over night. Sometimes it resets in a few minutes. I understand electronics just not when the universe screws with me. It acts like something is interrupting the power but it can't be. • @Bouray1
      @Bouray1  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello it may not save your settings if the red and yellow, connected together, are hooked to a switched power. The yellow wire needs to have 12 volts all the time. It doesn't draw much current at all. So if you could get a constant 12 volts to the yellow wire you should be golden

    Kenwood Excelon KDC-X597 connect all wires color to color, channels will not save. Switch red with yellow and channels will save. 1993 S10 using new Autozone harness.

      Hello, the yellow wire on a aftermarket radio, is the memory wire. It requires 12 volts all the time. Any time it loses power, even for a second, the settings are reset. I'm not sure how your set up is or the vehicle. Some vehicles have wires that show 12 volts after the vehicle is turned off, but after a while of sitting they will turn off. With the red and yellow wire connected could cause the radio to stay on all the time, maybe causing the battery to drain. If you are unsure which wire in your dash is constant power, you could run a Fused- urn-on wire from the (+) post on the battery straight to your yellow wire.
