My Mom use to tell us about having to eat Spam during the war years. And that was in So. Calif. I love it. I can't believe how many different flavors there are.
My dad was a Korean War vet, and he always told me about eating a lot of Spam when he was over there. He loved it until the day he died. Also, I was the sidekick on a local radio station's morning show back in the '90s. One morning, we decided to call Hormel as a joke. We ended up talking to the nicest lady. She sent us a big box of Spam promotional items to giveaway. Of course, I brought some to my dad. Enjoyed the video. Thank you!!

I lived on the Big Island of Hawaii from the mid 80's to the late 90's.
When I was there, one of the local supermarkets had one of the oddest promotions/events I had seen to date.
It was a Spam carving contest. One which surprisingly drew a large crowd.
Pleased to see the 'Lend a Hand' display. Despite the consignments sent to Britain during WW2 being subjected to rationing, my family often commented on what a lifesaver it was during those dark days. Really enjoyed this tour, many thanks Jordan and Katie.

I never knew there was a Spam Museum Jordon- When I went to Oahu a while back went to McDonalds there. Was very surprised to see a Spam burger on there menu. To what I understand Spam is very popular in Hawaii. Nice seeing you Again Katie
A SPAM museum! Only Jordan the Lion could take us there. Spam has taken an unfair beating in recent years, but it is a good product----try the Spam with real bacon. I was born in Minnesota, but this was a fun surprise. Thank you once again!

I have a can of SPAM and a can of Dinty Moore stew in my cabinets. I forgot it had a crank key and you opened the can in the middle. It used to be fun to open the can. Japan has Kentucky Fried Chicken for Christmas. You have to order it early or they run out of it. Glad you and Katy had such fun. I loved the gift shop. Thanks for bringing us along. I used to live at the end of main street there. I hope the rendering plant was not blowing the wind towards main street that day, and I hope it wasn't humid as well. If you are looking at the front of the museum, behind it, and maybe 1/10 mile to the left is the rendering plant. There's a map of all the restaurants in town that serve spam.
Hormel, It's pronounced to sound like normal. I pronounce it Hor-mel like you do. The locals loved pointing that out.

I never knew you boil it to remove some of the salt before eating it. During hurricane season I buy 3 cans for my emergency box. Great video and Jordan I just love Katie she is perfect for you❤❤❤

A few years back I drove from montana to New York City for a month to visit family. On the way we passed a sign on the interstate that told about the spam meuseum , my girlfriend at the time and myself both thought it was a joke !!!! Thank you Frank from montana for this one , JORDAN

Hey Jordan now you are in my neck of the woods. Grew up on spam salad sammies, with old Dutch potato chips and milk for lunch. It was easy lunch to make and bring to the corn fields on the farm.
I can't get LaVictoria Mild Taco Sauce in Wichita, KS. I always had it in AZ. I need to have my daughter bring some out to me in November. You were just at my new home in KS.

I drove by the Hormel Factory in Austin many years ago, which is along the Interstate. One of the most heavenly smells that I have ever encountered. Another great video, Jordan!! :)

Wow that's just really full Museum I never got to see it actually picked up pork products from Hormel plant in in Wisconsin I also picked up in Rochelle Illinois and hold it up to the spam plant processing plant is right down the road from there

My mom baked it with pineapple jelly on top. I put it in the microwave with brown sugar and a little water. My brother bakes spam with brown sugar and orange juice. I got a Spam cookbook in Hawaii for my nephew. He slices it and fries it up for a Spam sandwich. I get him 2-3 cans every year for Christmas.

Spam fries were a feature of a little second floor "hof" or bar located in the Hongdae district of Seoul, South Korea around 6-8 years ago. Quite a treat (they love love Spam in Korea!)

Ok. Now I have to try Spam! Great tour. Your vid prompted me to research the Hormels. I was thrown when you read a placard that said 'George Hormel turned the company over to his son Jay Hormel until his untimely death.' What happened?? Turns out George was 84 when he passed, and Jay was in his 60's, so no story there, just some disappointed Hormel employees, I guess.
But you missed the best part! Remember the Spam guitars?? Well Jay Hormel's grandson is Smokey Hormel. (Yes, for real.) He is a famous and accomplished guitarist! He's 64 and has played with and toured with some of the biggest names in show business - so many, I won't even try to name them. He even was the guitarist on Johnny Cash's last albums with Rick Reuben uncluding Cash's cover of "Hurt."
He didn't need to be good, though, as his family's net worth is $9.8 Billion dollars as of last Thursday. (😳)
