I've lived alone for decades now, but prior I was married/in relationships for decades as well. The most painful loneliness I've ever experienced was in relationships. Being alone is much better and it is indeed freedom. Happy New Year Alyssa, I hope 2024 brings you many great new adventures.

I agree with that statement as well, I was married and was depressed/lonely/abused during the relationship. I now I'm single, sometimes I feel lonely but it's okay. You only have one life to live, try to live it to the fullest.

I LOVE BEING ALONE with no one around. As a matter of fact, it’s New Year’s Eve and while my neighbors will be partying, celebrating, and doing fireworks, I will be curled up watching a movie or maybe even binge watching this channel.

I am a reclusive loner. Being alone is ultimate freedom for me...but I have lived like this all my life. The Covid "shelter in place" time period was not a problem for me because I had already been doing that. I am not living in a vehicle ( I don't have one) but I am homeless & after many, many years of alternately living on the street and in shelters, I have finally gotten to the point where I am in transitional housing in tiny pods and hoping that after this, I will I will be living in my own place. I am hoping that 2024 proves to be a life-changing year for me. But on that note, I am a nomad at heart and love to travel around, so I have always considered either the van life or rv, but I am disabled and I think at this point in my life with my disability where it's at now it might be more difficult for me to live in any type of vehicle. But, who knows!! I am trying to find some permanent p/t work that I can physically handle & , in time, I would like an RV or renovated van that would still allow me to travel. Anyways, I really enjoy your videos , & appreciate your genuineness & transparency in the ups & downs of vanlife/ living on the road !!! Freedom. And girl, you've got it. There are so very few people who really have it. Especially people in relationships, because so many people (especially women) settle for the wrong person (or maybe the once "right" person becomes the wrong person over time, but they feel locked in). That is definitely the opposite of freedom. The older you get the more you realize just how short life is, how fleeting those really good things are. Enjoy the cool life you've created. You inspire others (purpose). You might ask yourself, what is it you wish to have that you don't have? But realize there's always a sacrifice. Just make sure the "thing" you desire is worth the sacrifice.

I love that you're having this ongoing conversation with all of us. We each have (and are finding) our own answers. I don't know that we, each of us, are actually looking for our place... because, for some of us, our "place" and our needs keep changing, evolving. I've learned that I appreciate having goals or purpose. They orient me, give me incentive. A relationship can do that, so can a job/career, but those inevitably lose their attraction for me. And then what...? So a little bit goes a long way. I like change, it feels like "flow." I guess I've just refocused my attention, making goals and purpose a more holistic thing... Like many of us, I decided I'd rather be alone sitting on a couch, than sitting on a couch with another person beside me and yet feeling even *more* alone. That's not just bad, it's crazy. Far, far worse than loneliness is feeling "trapped," stuck, seemingly without a choice. "Having nothing to show" for all our hard work is just another blaming/shaming myth, simplistic and easily shot down. We like to think we own things or people, but if we're working our butts off to maintain control or possession of things... then who owns who?

Married twice,one divorce and my second wife passed away from Cancer. I dont believe in the house,marriage and 2.5 children. I love my two children but i will never promote the setting up roots and co habitating your life away to them.
Live,love and dont impact on other people. Live for you,give time to others when needed ,stay clean spiritually and physically.

Personally I found that having a routine... going to the gym 3 times a day. Once at 8 AM the second time at around 3 or 5 and the last being at 9 PM. Then while in between the workouts. I just tool around the town Hitting up the libraries, the parks the monuments.
Etc. I hope sharing with you what I do. Lends inspiration on what you might be able to do. Again, safe travels. ##Artisbluu

I hope my two girls are as insightful as you are and understand that life is not dictated by society and happiness is a journey that a person must work towards purposefully. All humans get lonely from time to time but I think the freedom or loneliness question is answered by the type of person you are. I am very much an introvert who enjoys solitude and gets drained from too much social interaction so for the most part, I call it freedom. You have to be happy with yourself and who you are though to be able to spend time alone and be content. Most people seem to need other people around all the time to be happy and those people would likely call it loneliness.

I never get lonely. I honestly don't know what that's like and I don't want to know. I have a friend who expresses her loneliness and it sounds very sad. I wish everyone could enjoy being alone and happy with themselves. Idk if this helps but I also have great family and friends that I love dearly and I'm Aromantic so I don't feel the need to be in romantic relationships. 😊
this was beautiful alyssa. i am setting out on my vanlife journey january 20th and i cannot be more excited. the only thing is I've been trying to work remotely via applying to hourly remote jobs and freelancing and its just been tough so I decided I will get part time jobs and stay in towns for a couple months at a time. This isn't quite what I planned or wanted but I always believe things happen for a reason and that everything works out so maybe it is a blessing in disguise. But anyway, rant aside, I hope you have a great new year that fills you with so much joy.

After only a year of my vehicle dwelling journey I definitely understand the feeling of not knowing what your purpose is. I was actually just talking to someone about that subject today. I feel like nomadic life would be stressful for me driving around trying to find places to sleep, shower, and use the restroom. Also if the car breaks down or there is an accident I wouldn't have a place to go because the home would be destroyed.

And yes, the Redwoods are magical, the most magical place in the world (imho). I just think of stepping into a Coastal Redwood grove and everything seems just a little lighter and a bit more special. The sudden silence, soft forest floor, and the unique special smell sends me to other worlds, different planets. So you're right on that note. I have a lifetime membership in the Humboldt Redwoods Interpretive Association, in Weott, Ca. Money well spent in support of that particular group.

I am homeless with my dog and two cats, I have a tent along with a van that I got on Black Friday. I used to watch @regretless and imagined myself like that. But given the situation that I have been presented, it definitely tends to get a little lonely. It is winter time where I am at and thankfully for my furbabies, all of us stay warm together. Downfall is that one of my cats tend to get car sick and throws up 😒 and not having the funds to wash, let alone take a shower like I would like. Plays a big roll. Being homeless sort of pushed me into vanlife, In a way that I was not expecting. Also having someone that I am involved with who claims to support me and the business that I am trying to make happen, not around to show the support can make things twenty times harder. Watching your videos and a few others, are keeping me from giving up. Please keep making content. It is sad how society treats those of us who are homeless or try to make vanlife the new "Norm." 💚💚💚💚
If you don't need a defined plan, don't have one. Plans are overrated. I've lived my whole life on no more than a general idea of what I'm doing next. Is it the best for 'success' as defined by society? Nah, probably not. But it's low stress, and my kids survived to adulthood just fine.

I can tell that you have changed since you're not with Stevie anymore. You've lost your spark for van life. You are young, beautiful and loveable. No matter what you're doing in life, I'm sure your fans will follow. I think you should do what makes you happy. If you're bored and lonely that isn't good. I guess it might be time to do some deep diving into what makes you happy and enjoy life. You are at an age where you should be having the time of your life. I think you need a creative outlet. Creativity brings purpose, joy, peace and fulfillment. If you want to still have your freedom you can incorporate your creative venture into your video's. As per your quote. I think it can be either or both. Like you said it takes a certain kind of person to live in their vehicle.
