- Our time in Nepal has been absolutely amazing. But today, it got even better when we were invited by a gracious local Nepali family to cook a Nepal traditional meal here in Pokhara 🇳🇵
For those of you who are not familiar with dal baht, dal baht is a staple dish here in Nepal. It's comprised of steamed rice (bhat) placed in the middle surrounded by lentil soup (dal) and sides like vegetables, curries, achars, and chutney's all served on a large plate or tray. Basically it's an entire plate of PERFECTION 😍. Something for everyone and while they might not all sound tasty together...they are!
Served twice a day in most parts of Nepal, this is one of the best ways to get all your nourishment in one meal and a meal that doesn't stop as you will see in this vlog!
We can't thank the family at Lakeside Inn Hotel enough for this incredible experience. Not only are they kind, respectful, genuine, and gracious individuals they made our stay at their family owned hotel one of the best experiences we've ever had at a hotel...anywhere in the world. We would recommend anyone who makes their way to Pokhara to stay here for a plethora of reasons.

They were some of the kindest people and we were so thankful they not just allowed us to film but also be a part of it. Goooood ! A twist , you dont just interact but a little of immersion of what locals does. Hope next vlogs try more of this , not only cooking but other ways too : plowing , gardening , cutting woids , etc whatever is predominant where you are .
Sadly you got sick when you're in Pokharah. You have not maximize your stay. During lockdowns , many foreigners were stranded there , 2 of them are vloggers will whereabout and thomas klabber. I followed them then , as im entertain at home quarantine too in my country. They almost explored the whole pokharah. The best thing is , a kindhearted restaurant , Moondance , gave free meals for any stranded foreigner. Wish , by chance you eat there , giving back of their generosity, Maybe , when you return , if not.

They were the kindest people to us both from the moment we got there until the moment we left. The grandmother gave us a blessing at 5am the day we left which was so incredibly kind and made us both want to always come back there when we go!! ❤️

We all need to jump into the kitchen one day and cook our favorite foods for each other! What's your go to meal to cook Miggy and Jim? Our is flank steak with a bed of brown rice, roasted peppers with zucchini and sprinkle some melted cheddar cheese on top 😝
That was so great that they let you into their kitchen to learn how to prepare Dal baht! I've never seen a cauliflower as massive as that one lol. Your meal looked so tasty, I think we could eat second helpings...and third helpings of it. Hope you guys are doing well :)

Cooking with the family was such a HIGHLIGHT! We loved every single second of our time in the kitchen and reminded us how rusty we were with our chopping and peeling skills lol. Nepali spices are very simple.. it's just powder mix of cumin and coriander seed and for garam masala make some powder mix of cinnamon, green cardamom, black-pepper,nutmeg, cloves, bay-leaf, mace and star anise . And always put fenugreek seeds first thing after putting oil on pan when making veggies. I think Nepali cousins are easy to make and delicious to eat 😋. Hope that helps👍

Daal bhat is best if you order “Thakali Daal bhaat” which is more authentic Nepali style !!
Meat - is not good in the mountains coz they don’t slaughter animals in the mountains (no violence for majority Buddhist/Hindus) .. because of that, they have to carry the meat to the mountains and of ours it’s not refrigerated- so, meet is not the best if you go for trekking ... but in the cities you can trust the meat - at least at nice places !! Hope you have more vlogs from Nepal !! Tc

It was bigger than both of our foreheads combined and that's saying something 😂😂😂😂 We had a lot of fun in the kitchen and would do it all over again, except next time, we will need a snack before cooking since we were starving by the time it was all cooked 🤭
