    I truly respect the way you teach. I like it how you try to slide in the theory stuff in a way that it is easy to understand, instead of just going through the chords of Wonderwall or whatever. When people ask me for good channels or sites to learn basic theory and to get started with music I always tell them to check out Sean Daniel. This is why I now must ask you to keep up the good work, because my honour and trustworthiness lies in your hands.

    Interesting stuff. This is kind of what I discovered a few months back with hammer-ons but only in the standard form (not moving around). Truly, I didn't know why it sounded good, but knew that it did. Now I understand it's in a scale and I can move around a bit more. This is really a great tip!

    Wow, this is really an epiphany. I was definitely guilty of thinking of "scales for solos" and "chords for rhythm". I'm really excited to try mixing some knowledge of scales in to make my chord playing more interesting. Thanks for the great channel Sean!

    Love your tutorials man I appreciate all of them so much. just as a question (open to everyone) rather than use a capo how would you do those inflections relative to the key of say : A minor, and would you use the c major scale over that or stick with the A minor pentatonic

    Thanks Sean. Another great video. This is such a great explanation of a sound I hear all the time in music. For years, I could never figure it out what they were doing. Such a simple techniquie, with a good description. Throw in a capo and you can do that anywhere right?

Have you ever made or would you make a video on substituting more 'jazzy' chords for 'normal' chords? I am just never sure when and how I can use these crazier chords so that it will sound good!     Neil Young's "Old man" utilizes the E minor pentatonic in this fashion . It's real cool song I enjoy plating it . Also Cinnamon girl is in drop d tuning that Sean uses in his riff deconstruction video, of a Filter song .

    Great video! Out of curiosity, I see that you play a D chord, how come it sounds okay even though parts of the chord which include (first string second fret) wasnt one of the notes of the G pentatonic scale?

    I recently learned that you can substitute the V7 for the diminished chord, so D7 could sub for F#dim. I noticed you threw in the D7 here. It might make a good lesson on why this works.

    Love your videos. How would playing the Em pentatonic work with Gmaj7, Cmaj7, and D7...would the same idea work using the relative minor? Just curious.

      +Larry Zeiders yup it all works exactly the same. You're just using extended chords with it but same philosophy applies :)

    - Any particular reason for choosing relative minor pentatonic scale. Can't we achieve dat same stuff playing within the main key's major scale or probably mixing both.

      Yes! Definitely mix both scales together :) I just chose minor pentatonic because that seems to be the one guitar players gravitate to the most.

    that was so eloquently stated about how "we" separate our selves from either learning lead "scales" or learning the melodies of songs that has been my problem i'm constantly in the class room i'm always sitting on the bench when it should be time for recess but the way u married "hooked up these two lost soul was brilliant they should be hooking up and making whoopie and speaking of whoopie i want to thank you and the gorgeous katie lowe for making me very happy by taking my request of joining together to sing black bird there's going to be a little something in yours and lady lowe's stocking for christmas and not just a lump of coal like what i'm used too i have a feeling christmas is coming early this year 💰😇 even if it doesn't have my name on it, u and your pep'[s can rest assured it came from me!!! me!!! me!!! and not taylor swift 😂

    May I confirm.. if you going to mix a pentatonic scale in with some chords that it's best to play the 6th minor pentatonic? As opposed to playing the G pentatonic with G Chords? (I've tried combining by playing the G pentatonic with my G scale chords.. I'm guessing this is wrong now?)
